  1. I "only" had to pay a $600 fee. Fees in the thousands are crazy! Is that the only surgeon of excellence near you? http://www.surgicalreview.org/
  2. GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!! Your video was awesome. You look like you have lost a lot more than 100 pounds. WOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Yes, I had to take a 3 hour class before surgery. I was also handed a thick booklet and asked to read it. It was very informative and worth it. Granted, most of those things we have learned here, but not every surgeon follows the same guidelines. In that class you will find out in detail what your surgeon wants you to do during the next year or so. I didn't have to pay $250 for the class per say, but I paid a $600 fee that included the class and other services. In regards to the tests, it depends on your health and the doctor. He should have given you an idea of what his "typical" tests are though. I found that out from my surgeon early on, because I have read here how some doctors go crazy ordering stuff and I didn't want to do that UNLESS of course they were really necessary. You can probably get that question answered during the class. Best wishes!!!!!!!
  4. Good for you for calling your insurance. That was my very first step. Many people don't and put all their trust on the insurance coordinator at the surgeons office. Also, did you find out what criteria they use to choose the Center of Distinctions? If they believe those places have higher standards, then you might want to consider them. My first criteria was that my surgeon had to be a Surgeon of Excellence. These Centers of Distinction might be Centers of Excellence. Best wishes!
  5. I'm excited for you!!!!! I also did my nails, eyebrows and hair! LOL You are prepared, you have all the knowledge you need, you have your friends support........you don't need anything else. Breathe in a and out a few times and SMILE!
  6. Liliana I still eat and sip all day long. Otherwise I wouldn't make my protein & fluid requirement.
  7. A 4-5 star hotel might accommodate you and put in a tiny fridge for you or at a minimum they might let you use a fridge they have in an office somewhere. Speaking to a manager might be worth a try since you are staying for 2 full weeks and it's for medical reasons. Don't wait until you arrive though. Call as soon as your reservation is in their system. Best wishes!
  8. I will be 4 weeks in 2 days and I weigh 1/2 ounce dense protein (with something like mayo, ranch dressing etc so it goes down easier) and 1/2 ounce cooked veggie. I can't quite finish it yet. You might want to start with 1/4 ounce of each. Hopefully you are meeting your protein goals by still drinking your shakes.
  9. Wow thin, healthy AND handsome! Congratulations!
  10. Myfitnesspal is great, like Lissa said. I am only one week ahead of you and we are at the same eating stage. I also drink 2 Protein shakes a day prepared with 8 ounces of Lactaid skim milk for a total of 72 grams of protein because there is no way to get a lot of protein from foods at this point. (that must be the longest sentence ever!) In regards to eggs, I have eaten 3/4 of a boiled one with mayo (egg salad) and it was too much. I will try 1/2 next time. For all other Proteins like chicken, lactose free cheese etc, I weigh half an ounce and pair it with 1/2 ounce of cooked vegetable. I come close to finishing that. As the days go by, I am sure I will be able to add more. Lately I have been eating between 570 calories to 735. I say if you can eat a whole egg, go for it. Perhaps sometime soon you can drink 1-1/2 Protein shake, versus 2. By the way, I use full fat mayo, full fat cheeses & real Peanut Butter. I do use skim milk because I am used to it and I consume 16 ounces a day. I feel the amount we consume is so small, I might as well savor something that tastes yummy. I am not trying to change your mind about your choices though. We all know what works for us. Did I answer your questions? P.S. In regards to the Beans I am going to email my NUT to ask if it is ok to take an enzyme supplement to help me digest them. (Even though she prefers me to eat protein from animal sources.)
  11. I am sorry you are feeling this way. Since yesterday I have seen posts asking you to call your surgeon. Please call, don't let it get worse.
  12. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! WOW you look wonderful!

Is that your picture? If it is..........you are mistaken. You have a very pretty face, but something tells me you won't believe me and that is sad. To cheer you up though I will tell you that I have the flattest butt you will ever see. I can't wait to be able to fit into those panties with cushion on them. Now THAT is sad! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!! Be kind to yourself sweetie.
  18. Hip Hip Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come sit next to me on the losers bench please! I too love your smile and that big personality of yours!
  19. I was told at the hospital to drink warm drinks first thing in the morning. I still start my day with tea at 3 wks out. I was purposely not given ice chips. Cold drinks still hurt. So I say, try them both and whatever hurts less, so you can consume more, go for it. OR ask your surgeon, of course. I hope you feel better!
  20. It is a natural reaction for women to want to take care of everyone first but I am sick of it. I am only 3 wks out and I WANT to take care of myself! If I don't, I will be dead. My husband and daughter are doing just fine. It is us that put a lot of pressure on ourselves. I'm important too. This is my time. I don't want to be the old me EVER! I hope you feel better and figure out a good balance.
