    Top 5 Things Im Grateful For . . .

At 1 year in and 78 pounds down, I am grateful for: 1. Going from an 18 to a 10 and shopping at regular stores in the regular size section. 2. Being a leader in my cycling/spinning class when 10 months ago I couldn't last 5 minutes on the back. 3. Being healthy and active with my husband and kids because I'm not tired all the time. 4. Weighing less than my husband for the first time in our 15 year marriage. 5. This is TMI but....looking down and being able to see what I am doing when I'm shaving my bikini area without the use of mirrors
  4. Hello all from a avid lurker, sometimes poster. I started my journey one year ago today. On the day of my surgery, I weighed 248 lbs. This morning I weighed 170 lbs That's 78 lbs in one year. Woohoo! I've gone from a size 18/20 to size 10. I don't think I have EVER been a size 10. I currently have 6.25 cc in a 10 cc band. The following have been my fills: 6/6/11.... Surgery 7/28/11......3cc in 9/21/11.....2cc in 11/10/1.....1cc in 2/23/12...... .5cc in 5/30/12...... .25cc OUT I live in south Texas and warmer weather definitely made my band way too tight. Exercise I work out about 3/4 times a week. Love elliptical ( spinning) classes and just started kickboxing classes I only lift weights during some type of cardio class. food It's harder for me to eat in the mornings than in the evenings. I'm not a shake person. Try to stick to Proteins first but I'm going to honest, I'm not a perfect eater. Its weird but sometimes I feel like my band talks to me. I can look at a food and one day my band tells me it's ok and other days it says " DON'T YOU DARE" haha. What I didn't realize would change after the surgery: < That I'd become a morning person. (I get up for 5:15 am spinning classes three times a week) < That I'd weigh less than my husband ( first time in 15 years of marriage ) < That plateaus are part of the journey. Just keep doing what you're doing and ride them out. I had one last about 6 weeks! I've had 3 major plateaus. All lasted about a month. What cani say, just keep on keeping on. < That roller coasters are sooo much more exciting. I used to squeeze in the seat. I went to a park in May, and I kept FLYING off the seat. Sooo cool! My goal is to loose 90 lbs. I've got 12lbs to go. Am I sad that I didn't accomplish it in a year? Nahh! It's a journey, not a race. Good luck to all! We can do this!!! Cyndee Starting weight. 248 Current weight 170 Goal weight 158 12 lbs to go!!!!

    Dental Cleaning: Funny

OMG. I can just picture it! Too funny! Thanks for the laugh!!
  7. Ok. I'm a year post op (6/6) and I've lost 78 lbs. I've gone from a size 18 to a size 10. I'm told I look great but I've got to honest, sometimes I don't see it or realize how far I've come. I got a HUGE reality check yesterday. Over a year ago I flew in a plane and squeezed myself with the seatbelt. I didn't want to ask for an extension so I sucked it all in and barely buckled up. You couldn't even see my seatbelt as it was tight and hidden under my big belly. Yesterday I flew on a plane with my family which included my sister and her two year old twins. One fell asleep in my arms mid-air. The seatbelt light came on and I didn't want to put my nephew down because I didn't want him to wake up. Ready? Ready! The seat belt fit around me AND my nephew AND IT WAS STILL LOOSE!!! I couldn't believe it. I was in tears. It was a reality on how far I've come. My weight has come off slow and I've run across many plateaus but it has and will continue to come off. I just wanted to share

  12. A year ago today I got a voicemail that changed my life. In the months before, I was having issues with my thyroid. I had scans and biopsies done and I was referred to an endocrinologist. She had me do all sorts of blood work. Her voicemail a year ago said that I had thyroiditis. It when your levels go up and down and you go from having hypo- thyroid to hyper thyroid. She was more concerned with my sugar levels and told me that my Ac1 was at 6.4 which is onset diabetes. I made up my mind after that voicemail that I was having the lap band done. I had my surgery 6/6/11. I have a little less than 3 mos to go for my banniversary. So far I'm down 67 lbs. I'm not weighing myself during lent and I'm ok with that. I was never a morning person and now I wake up at 4:45 am very weekday to go to he gym before I go to work. I'm so grateful for the band. My thyroid issues are gone and my sugar levels are fine now. I still listen to hat voicemail every now and then to remind me of how unhealthy i was. I can't wait to post my 1year stats.

    Morning Excersize

I get up at 4:50 am Monday thur Thursday. My gym is less than 5 miles away. I do spinning classes at 5:15 am. On Tuesday's and Thursday's. And the elliptical on Mondays and Wednesday's. I was never a morning person, but now I feel my days are better and I have more energy if I excercise in the morning. I'm usually home by 6:45 ( the time I used to get up for work) and I don't eat till about 7 before I'm rushing to get the kids to school and me off to work.

Run My Life! What Should I Do?

You are not alone about having doubts. I had doubts even in the prep room waiting to go into surgery. I kept asking myself, "am I doing the right thing?". I probably realized about a week after the surgery that i did do the best thing for me. I'm 7 mos post op and 62 lbs lighter. I'd lose weight in the past but only about 20lbs and then it would come back with friends:). The lap band is work. If you're willing to work ( ie monitor your diet, exercise, etc), then the band will work for you. You already have an advantage with the support of your spouse. I think some type of support system is critical for success. Good luck to you.
  17. I was heavier when I met my future hubby. Prob about 20 lbs more. He joined the navy, we got married. He lost weight and I gained more. Two kids and 15 yrs later I was about 60 lbs more than him. Now that I weigh less I don't plan on going back. He came home Tuesday with all these vitamins and has decided to get in shape:). I'm glad we are getting healthier for ourselves and our kids.
  18. Thanks for the info! Definitely going to check it out!

AND NOW i've discovered pintrest with so many awesome recipes! I'm going to try to stick to the healthy ones. I made roasted Brussels sprouts from the pioneer woman and they were delicious. Arrange on two baking sheets and toss with olive oil. Sprinkle with plenty of salt and pepper and roast at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until brown. Combine balsamic vinegar and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and reduce until very thick, about 15 to 20 minutes.
