Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
My surgeon for the lap band and the sleeve is Dr. Mark Paya. His office is in West Hills, California and my surgery was done at U.C. Irvine (required by Anthem). My band never slipped because of a technique he does to ensure it stays put. I just didn't have the success with it I had hoped for. It wasn't for my particular personality. I hated having it in me and I learned how to eat anything with it. It wasn't any fault of Dr. Paya. He's a fantastic surgeon and I found him while researching lap band surgery 4 years ago. He was actually recommended by the manufacturer of the lap band. Love you Doc Paya!!

9 months out and I am STARVING!!!!
I don't know about banding the sleeve, but the sleeve can be revised to gastric bypass. If I were you I would try shaking things up. Eat different stuff...vary your daily calorie intake, do totally different exercise, even exercise at a different time of day if possible. Then talk to a dietician. Good luck and huggs!

Panera anyone?
Had the french onion soup at Panera last night and it went down like a dream! I love their soups and they have a nice selection. My daughter works there and says they use mostly organic everything and everything is fresh too. Love Panera!

Refried beans!! Heaven!
I just had refried Beans this week too and yes, they were Heaven!! The beans at Taco Bell are 4 Weight Watcher's points so it's good to know in a pinch I can get those and have a 4 point lunch which is awesome.

Cookbooks
You all probably figured this out already but I just discovered it LOL There are a few cookbooks out there specifically for people who have had WL surgery! "Recipes for Life After Weight Loss Surgery" "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" These two I bought at Amazon and had them sent to my Kindle (that way I can enlarge the print so I can read the recipe while I'm cooking!) Anyway, they both look really good so I wanted to share my find!

Thrilled with my Revision
I hated that lap band but didn't realize how much until now. I'm losing weight quicker and yes I'm kind of weak right now but it's getting better all the time. When I eat three bites of a scrambled egg I'm full, and the full feeling lasts 3 hours or more. With the lap band I still had my huge stomach so I would eat, feel pain high up between my breasts, the food would go down, the pain would go away and I'd be hungry again. The lap band made so much sense to me at the time but now I almost view it as barbaric. And the port was really painful for me. I just thing the concept of a smaller stomach without losing part of your intestines and all that re-routing makes sense! The revision to the sleeve is absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself and my health. I'm 3 weeks and 4 days post op and started aqua aerobics already, and I love it! I'm going tomorrow morning which will be my third time this week! Who AM I? Have a great weekend friends!

Painful "Port" Incision
I'm now a little over 2 weeks post op and feeling much better! I'm glad for the band experience because I think it prepared me for this. Be sure to keep in touch after your surgery!

I want a scrambled egg!
When were you able to eat a scrambled egg? My instructions say pureed scrambled eggs starting the 5th week! And what the heck is a pureed egg? LOL Yuck Just curious....

Went back to work today...

How to eat at McDonald's after the sleeve....
I was a McDonald's addict right up until a week before surgery .... I'm two weeks post op and nothing sounds good from there anymore, not even the new jalapeno cheddar Mc Chicken! I have had a few sips of hubby's sweet tea though. I'm planning to save my lunch money and never eat there again. I hope I can do it!!!

Pureed/Blenderized Foods Suggestions
My doc had me on clear liquids for two weeks (surgery was June 27) so now technically Im just going into full liquids and I'm really irritated! I've started on some pureed soups. I put them in the blender (bean and bacon is my favorite) then cook them and sprinkle a little low fat cheddar. I can only eat about 2 ounces but it's heavenly. I can't wait until I can eat a scrambled egg!! Seems like so many of you get to eat pureed foods sooner than me. I can't wait to crunch something...anything!

Did you get off Depression meds after surgery?
I was on Wellbutrin before surgery along with a water pill for blood pressure and hormone replacement therapy. I weaned all of it down before surgery and have not taken anything since my surgery 2 weeks ago. So far I'm giddy, low bp, and no hot flashes so I hope it continues!

Calling all ACID sufferers!
I posted a few days ago about my awful acid and now I want to update you. My doc originally prescribed Prevacid Solutabs but insurance denied it. After trying other over the counter medicines including Xantac 150 twice a day I talked to a bariatric nurse that my insurance company assigned to me and she said that time released pills won't work. They don't stay in your stomach long enough to do any good. LONG story short, and after much discomfort I paid cash for the Prevacid Solutabs. I took one on my way home from the pharmacy at 6pm Friday night and within 2 hours my acid was 70% gone. I went to bed and woke up the next morning acid free. I didn't even take my next pill until 9pm Saturday night. My acid is 100% gone. The instructions say that if needed antacids can be used with the medication under the supervision of your physician. I am absolutely giddy!! Also, my nurse told me that my doc just needs to re-submit with a better explanation and the insurance company will pay for it. ACID sufferers call your docs and good luck!!

Is the ACID forever now?
LOL this conversaton turned hysterically funny! BTW the Prevacid Solutabs have 100% stopped the acid! I'm so happy! Ask your Doc if you are having problems like I was...I think I'll even make a new topic post.

Painful "Port" Incision
Mine didn't need drained yet. He put a pressure bandage on it and it's much better already!

Is the ACID forever now?
UPDATE: My Doc had prescribed Prevacid Solutabs but insurance denied them so I was taking Xantac twice a day with constant acid all day long!. Well, I just talked to the nurse and she explained that anything that's timed released is no good because it doesn't stay in my stomach long enough to work. DUH! She strongly recommended the Solutabs so I went back to the pharmacy and paid cash for 1 week's worth ($58.00 for 7) and she said my doc needs to re-submit it with a better explanation. I took one and already feel better! She said the acid is bad for the staples too which is scary!
