I ate 2 Del Taco Tacos
Okay, first of all I had gone grocery shopping and started getting really hungry. I drove through Del Taco for lunch for Hubby and me. I was thirsty so I got a diet coke and had a few sips. When I got home I took the food in and ate about 3 bites of a taco then brought in the groceries and put them away. Then I ate the rest of the taco. When hubby came in from painting our fence I fixed his plate and gave myself another taco .. of which I figured I would eat some meat out of....well next thing I knew I ate the whole thing. I'm not over stuffed and feel satisfied beyond belief! Now for Breakfast I had a string cheese and a couple of pita chips then tried to take a Vitamin and ended up throwing it all up. When it comes to solid meat I can eat maybe 1/4 cup at the most. And at any one sitting I can only eat about 1/2 cup of food all together. How could I eat 2 tacos? Has anyone else experienced this?

Newbie looking for help in SoCal
Hi Miyme, I'm from Lancaster Ca. Welcome! I had the lap band in 2007 and I had no complications, but my weight loss was poor. I just couldn't get the tightness right..it was either too tight or not tight enough. I lost 50 then gained back 15 when it had to be loosened after being way too tight and causing major acid reflux. At my last yearly exam my surgeon told me about VSG and I loved the thought of it. Just make my stomach smaller DUH!! This makes sense! He got it approved by my insurance and he did the revision on June 27th. I am THRILLED. I didn't realize how much I hated the lap band. Eating was NO fun and the port always hurt. I'm 9 weeks post op and have already lost 31 lbs and I'm under 200 lbs for the first time in 22 years. I highly recommend VSG. It just makes sense! My email address is tippy2us@verizon.net if you want to email me anytime. Take care!

I tried them on last week and they are almost too big!!!!! Oh and as of this morning, I'm in ONE-DER-LAND!!!! Not just visiting this time either! LOVE LOVE LOVE VSG!!

My One Worry
Here's the difference. If I ove rate with the lap-band it would hurt a minute then go down, and after that I could eat way too much. With the sleeve that does not happen. If I over eat, I'm in horrible pain and end up throwing up. You only do that a couple of times...believe me. I also visualize my sleeve. It's long and skinny, is not very stretchy, and does not contain the part of the stomach that makes you crave food and want to over eat. Visualize eating just enough to fill it up without stretching it every time you eat. That's working for me....so far. And yes, I eat crap I shouldn't eat now and then so I joined myfitnesspal.com and I log everything, even the bad stuff, and knowing I'm going to log it can usually keep me from eathing itl Best of luck to you! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I couldn't be happier!

Pros vs Cons of emptying band
My doctor emptied mine 4 days before surgery and I was under the impression that it was necessary for the surgery? I didn't gain any weight because I was on a liquid diet anyway. I LOVED having it emptied because I hated it so much.

Protein Bar Recommendations Please
Power Crunch are my favorite. They go down easy because they are light and crispy like a sugar wafer. 200 calories 10 carbs 14 protein. Vitamin Shoppe and Trader Joe's are the places I've seen them. Much cheaper at Trader Joes!

Does Doubt really mean Don't?
Well said Kelly!

Does your sleeve get tighter or looser depending on what you eat?
Stress does me in especially if I just ate, because it will come back up.

Poor weight loss after band to sleeve revision?
I had my revision on June 27th...about 8 weeks ago and I'm down 29 lbs. I do water aerobics twice a week and sometimes three. If I was more consistent with the exercise I'm sure I would be down more. I'm thrilled with my weight loss. It's exceeded my expectations! AND I'm thrilled to have that band out of my body!! I LOVE my sleeve!

Bariatric Advantage and Opti Fast
I used Opti-fast when I got the lap band and I bought it online. Are you from So. Cal? I wonder if we have the same doctor? Dr. Paya? I remember Opti-fast being available through him...Anyway, this time I bought my own whey protein and made my own shakes. I buy most of my vitamins at walmart or the vitamin shoppe but I do get my calcium citrate chews from bariatric advantage because I haven't been able to find the chewy ones (chocolate, caramel, etc.) in citrate form anywhere else.

*NEW* June Sleevers Master List
Hi, I was sleeved on June 27th. Now on August 15th I'm down 26 lbs!
-
What were your reasons?
No complications here. I just didn't have good weightloss after 4 years. And I hated the port, it bothered me. I'm so happy my surgeon mentioned the revision to me at my yearly check-up. The sleeve is a miracle!

Phantom like band feeling
Nope, my band is permanently erased from by body and my mind! I had extra pain where the port was, but even that's gone.
-
Did your surgeon take out the band first and then wait?
My band was removed and I was sleeved all at once. Thank God! I would hate to have waited!
-
How do feel about the lapband now that you have had yours removed?
I hated my band! Where the port was always hurt me....now I feel fantastic!!

4 Days Post OP
Sounds yummy but I couldn't even think of having anything that spicy! Even black pepper bothered me. I"m 6 weeks out now though and still haven't had tomato soup. I guess it's time to give it a try! Thanks for sharing your recipe. Also, my first two weeks I was on clear liquids and the 2nd two weeks full liquids....my surgeon is really tough! lol

eating too much!!! what do I do to stop?
Hi there, I'm a grazer by nature but trying hard to break that habit now that I've been blessed with VSG. Let me just tell you that I bet I could sit down and eat half a bag of chips. But I can't even eat 1/2 a cup of chicken! Soooo, it's the chicken I stick with. If I'm craving crunchy chips, I literally count out 5 or 10 chips, and have them after my solid protein....and usually I can only eat 3! I log everything at myfitnesspal.com which is awesome. It shows you how many calories, carbs, fat, and protein you are consuming. It has a database of literally every food in the world! It opened my eyes as to how many carbs I was eating, I made some adjustments, and the weight started flying off again. If you join (its free) add me as a friend (tippy2us) and we can help each other... Make the decision to make this procedure work for you. It's a very VERY helpful tool but it needs your help too! Go with solid proteins first and no liquids while eating and you will stay full longer.
