hey harleykat!! the liquid diet stinks!!! i am sure you can imagine! all dr's a different i had 2 weeks liquids. some have no pre-op diet just no food the day before or day of surgery. i did great the first 5 days then the weekend hit and i ate fast food, grilled food, snacky foods, anything i could swallow!!! basically a binge. (gee sounds like my diet history, no wonder i need the band!) then the next week i ate regular till 4 days before. i did 2 days Protein shakes only and 2 days Clear Liquids only. and believe it or not... LOST 6 pounds... now the post op diet is a little easier because you dont FEEL like eating much less like cheating!!!
  2. my dr has had patients go back to work the very next day. personnaly i dont see HOW!!! it wasnt that bad days 2-3 were the worse, but it was nothing the pain meds couldnt take care of!! things like getting in and out of bed were annoying in that you have to take it easy. looking back i really cant think of much that was just AWFUL. it is surgery so you have to expect that you'll be sore. i had mine on a monday and went back to work on friday. now i wont lie that first day back kicked my butt! i was pooped by the end of the day. i even worked through lunch so i didnt have to stay an extra hour! everyone is different! as far as others reaction...i have been rather open in telling people. i find that i want to tell every overweight person i see about the lapband! lol! now SOME family members i didnt tell because i know them and i didnt want to hear their sh%t! and alexandra's right they havent even noticed. i have read on other WLS boards where a lady had lost a total of 120 lbs and when people would ask her how much she had lost she would say 15 lbs even if she hadnt seen them in 5 months and had lost 40. when they asked her her total she would say 60 lbs. and no one ever questioned or doubted her. If you tell someone who has never been over 150 lbs that you have lost 150 then yeah they may look at you funny so just tell them a reasonable number to satisfy them... or tell them where to stick it! my family has been very supportive. they all want me to be healthy and live a long happy life. good luck shayne! keep us posted!
  3. i thought you got filled today... you could do a THICK soup pureed today and tommorrow move to mush foods. you may be swollen and eating something to thick could get stuck.
  4. well i was filled monday and for dinner i ate cream of chicken Soup with cheese added to make it thicker! i ate the whole can!!! i am still not restricted!!! i ate soup all day tuesday and wednesday ate refried Beans with cheese and chicken. thursday i had eggsalad for lunch and dinner ... 6" VEGGIE SUB yikes what was i thinking... i could tell i wasnt having any restriction though and i toasted the heck out of the bread! i was able to eat the whole thing in 30-45 minutes. still no pb or vomit. i would do a pureed soup tonight and tommorrow and then move to more soft foods.
  5. i to am 5 1/2 weeks banded and trying to stay in control!!! i have been telling myself that since 2 weeks out! i havent really had any restriction since then. i had my first fill on monday of 1.6 cc and still dont feel any restriction. my dr said what i am looking for is how i felt the 2-3 day post op. stuffed after 1 pudding!!!!! i schedule another fill for 10-2 and hope i will get some more restriction. i have been eating whatever i can get down...eating carbs, potatoes, bread, Pasta and if i wanted a cookie then 1 or 2 or maybe even 3! before i could eat a dozen with milk. i am eating chicken, veggies, eggs, bread all with no restriction!!!! it is less than before but i want that 1/2 cup restriction! now after i had my fill and have been able to STILL eat quite a bit my BF asked me last night 'is it gonna work??? you just got filled how come your still eating???' and i told him... BECAUSE I AM STILL HUNGRY!!! the band is designed to work when filled properly...yada yada yada... very irritating as i told him all this before hand!! Since i am not having the restriction i cant do it on my own. and i am not going to beat myself up over something that is medically explained. ( i may beat him up though if he keeps asking stupid questions! just kidding i think he has never had a problem with portion control and i guess just doesnt understand!!!) still havent pb'd or had any discomfort so thats good!!!! WE'RE ALL ON TRACK HERE!!!! WE JUST HAVE TO TOUGH IT OUT A FEW MORE WEEKS!!!! GOOD LUCK LOOOOOSERS!!!!!
  6. well then... i am ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at this thread!!!! :)
  7. dont feel bad bright! i dont know what ROTFLMAO means either!!!! odd that we knew exactly what PORN was though!!! LOL!!
  8. bev- does your dr put you on liquids after a fill? i have to do 2-3 days liquid 2-3 days mushies 2-3 days soft food and then reg food. they do it so you can get adjusted to new fill. i'd be souping it tonite!!! Donali- so glad i will get the full feeling! thats how i know im loose. i dont get full i just quite eating. i want to feel FULL! i havent pb'd either and i have been able to eat bread & steak. i savoured the steak knowing that i can kiss it goodbye after i am at the sweet spot. i have heard some can eat it but judging on how hard it is to chew it up to the right cosistancy i cant see myself eating it.
  9. thanks donali! i want to be restricted to where 1/2 cup is literally my stopping point! do you ever get FULL? my dr said the sweet spot i am going for is like 2-3 days post op when 1 pudding felt like a feast!!! i scheduled my 2nd fill for 10-2 hopefully i will get some good restriction. i am a little paranoid because the scale has started moving up:eek: i am starting high protien low carbs officially today!!!! that should help me. i did under 20 carbs (adtkins) all summer and since surgery have been loading up on carbs... i think my body is saying PICK A EATING HABIT AND STICK WITH IT!!!! so bye bye carbs!!! + some more fill= LOOSER!!!!
  10. i know that everyone is different and the sweet spot varies but now that i am dealing with fills i am wondering what other people have!! i got my first fill moday of 1.6 cc and still nothing. well ok- a little teeny restiction! at the dr office i did a drinking test they said the Water might 'back up in my throat' but no- i was able to pretty much able chug 10 oz of water. thats where they left me though! they do fills evey 2 weeks till you hit the sweet spot!
  11. i thought the same thing!!!!!!!!! i didnt know what a pom was so i figured it was PORN to!!!!! LOL!LOL!LOL!LOL!LOL!!!!
  12. thanks sophia!!! i took some more photos this weekend in clothes that FIT!!! the others were a bit baggy!!! i got my first fill yesterday and i am ready to really start loosing!!!! i will post the ohter pics as soon as i get them developed! i saw that you are pre-op, where are you in this process? i know the pre op waiting is trying!!!!!! you made my day:D :)
  13. hi elma!!! thats so awsome!!!!! what type of diet did you follow? is it all on your website?? i cant wait till you get the link up. i love reading about other bandster especially the ones at GOAL!!!!! i was just banded on 8-18 at 319 lbs and now weigh 308 with my first fill on monday!! i cant wait to get the ball rolling! i am going to try an adtkins style of eating...under 20 carbs a day, Water water water and of course exercise!!!
  14. its funny cause i have before and after and before and after and before and after photos. thank goodness i dont have to yo yo anymore!
  15. i know what you mean leo!!!! i finally had my first non-family member comment that i looked like i was loosing weight!!!!! i felt 'high' all day!!! my boyfriend was like 'i tell you that all the time' and i told him 'you say it because you have to!!!!' lol. sometimes i wonder why he stayed with me!!!! when i met him i weighed 200 pounds but i looked like this....it must be love....
  16. i was banded 8-18-03 and at 2-5 days post op i definitaly had those- why did i do this moments...they were fleeting though and it was the pain talking!!! i think the gas was the worst for me. just take some gas x it helped alot!!! make sure you are drinking enough fluids or a sports drink!!! you want to be very careful not to get dehydrated!! good luck!
  17. leo they were photos i scanned into my comp. 2 were from pretty far away i cropped thinking they would show up small and look a little sharper. the clothes i have on are really baggy i think i may put on some clothes that fit better and take a photo on my dig cam specifically for documenting weightloss. thanks leo. i really like looking at photos of others that show progress. i look at your site all the time! i have a journal on on obesityhelp.com maybe if i get brave enough i'll make a site like yours!
  18. boy those showed up big... what was i thinking... groan of embarrasment....
  19. 2 of these photos are some that have never seen the light of day!!!! they are the ones that made start think about gastric bypass... thank god i stumbled upon the band!!! i weighed roughley 350 in photo # 1 and 3 one is a body shot the other is with my boyfriend. they were taken memorial weekend at gulf shores AL. the day i got my photos back i started adtkins... and lost about 25 lbs. the photos in the tye dye t shirt were taken this past weekend 9-6-03 they show me at about 308. i can tell a difference.
  20. Alexandra... my boss has used the same Water bottle for months!!!! yuck! i usually lose mine or forget it so i have to buy a new one. i also have a cup i bought espescially for drinking water it holds 25 oz and is insulated! plus i can just throw it in the dishwasher!!! pre band i would do 32 oz bottles but post op they seem so big and hopeless! its pobably all in my mind!!! i have always been an all or nothing person in the past with water so i'll stay on the routine until i dont have to think about it anymore. it's easy for me to get sidetracked with sweet tea with lemon and splenda! i get my first fill on monday!!!! woohoo!!! i cant wait for the some restriction!!!!
  21. hey bright! i have schedule for drinking my Water because i dont particulary love it. i always drink from a 20 oz bottle (we have a bottled water dispenser at work so i just refill it. at home i have filtration system too) this is my water drinking routine: on the way to work 20 oz. i eat as soon as i get to work and wait till 9:30 to start again. before noon i must have drank another 20 oz. bottle. after lunch but before i leave work i drink another 20 oz bottle that is 60 oz for the day. on my way home i drink another 20 oz bottle that gives me 80 oz a day and then when i'm at home or on the go i drink sugar free flavored drinks.
  22. i have an official card from the BioEntrics corporation i got the card from my dr. it looks like a business card and is blue and mustard yellow it says this person has an adjustable gastric band inplanted around the stomach to assist weight loss... it also has a pic of an x-ray of the band and a drawing of the band... if you want one you might could call the 800 also printed on my card 800-432-8803 www.bioenterics.com i dont know if i'll use it or just enjoy the meal for a couple days???
  23. hi ya'll i was banded 8-18 and am scheduled for a fill on 9-15. i have lost 10 lbs since surgery- i had lost 15 but 5 came back as i introduced solids!!! i to have been able to eat anything... i have not pb'd or vomited and dont get chest pressure i just eat chew eat chew and by the time i think GOD I HAVE EATEN ALOT (about 1 1/2 - 2 cups) i quit eating but dont feel full just ashamed:eek: i dont feel tooo bad i hadnt had any carbs all summer so while i'm *healing* i am eating the carbs to. protien first though!!! i just got back from the dr and he confirmed that its because the swelling is down, as long as i am not feeling any discomfort that it isnt stretching, the food is just passing through. michelle 8-18-03 325/308/170 10 since banding 17 total
  24. the waiting is the hardest part!!!! :D i went through the same thing... i was lucky that my process wasnt as long as some others, timing is everything! my first appointment was 7-1 i had surgery on 8-18! (there was a cancelation the day i scheduled surgery so i got first dibs!!) good luck in your journey. i would do exactly what your doing now... research, research, research! and ask questions! you'll get there! GOOD LUCK!!!!! 'patience is a virtue' easier said than done!! lol
  25. it was really good! i ate on it for 3 days! i wish i had some now! i bought a whole chicken and i will make it again this weekend! it has all of my favorites...cheese, sourcream, guacamole, tomatoes....lots of flavor!!!
