    need to eat more??

So to all you work out fanatics, when you are doing an intense workout, do you find that you need to eat more to fuel your body? I'm only a 2 weeks out but started back to a cardio drills class that I love. I know it's a little premature but i modified to fit what worked. Problem is, I'm HUNGRY!!! I don't feel like I'm getting enough food to fuel a workout like this. Thoughts?

    Always Hungry

I am hungry alot too. I guess some of us just never lose it completely. With that said, certain factors contribute. Do you exercise alot? I exercise atleast 5 days a week and intense so the doc says I am creating some hunger by working out so hard. This journey for me is not as easy as others in the fact that I have to work just as hard as before, work out just as much and watch everything I eat. I read about those who have weight just falling off. Stay focused!! Exercise if you don't, and fill yourself with the most dense protein you can before all else. I find that cottage cheese and fish fill me the most and the quickest with the smallest amounts so it becomes making the RIGHT choice!! People like us who can still eat everything and in greater quantities just have to work at it more. You didn't go through this process to continue on your old path so change it now while you still can!! Good luck!!

    Vigorous vs moderate exercise

Do you have access to a treadmill? Hills might not be the best for your injury but walking backwards on a treadmill may help you. It strengthens some different muscles in your quads that in turn help support your knees. I always get a good sweat going when I do this. Also, maybe eliminate hills for a while and just do some interval training such as walking at a moderate pace for a minute and then faster walk/jog for 2min. and keep alternating this. It will get your heart rate up and change what you are currently doing. Push yourself out of your comfort zone without putting yourself at risk for injury.

    Insurance - DENIED!!!

I got approved a couple of days later with the peer to peer. I just called and called both my doc. office and insurance until I got the answer I wanted. Good Luck, hope it all works out quickly for you.
  5. When it's time for salad and veggies, does anyone still count the 4oz. or do you just eat these somewhat freely when hungry. I love salad and all the veggies that go in them and was wondering if I will need to include them in my measurements or can have these as "free" type items.
  6. Well, here is someone who is half and half with the answer. I am glad I did it. I'm 2wks 2days and have lost 21 lbs. So I am happy. I have PCOS and Hashimotos Disease so losing is extremely difficult unless I have major calorie restriction as I do now. I exercise alot and ate fairly, well before. So, the part of me that questions this is the fact that I am hungry. If I still have to feel the hunger and calorie strict to this extreme, then what was the difference if I did that with or without this surgery. Eating 3 small 4oz. meals just isn't enough for me and I fear that the hunger will take control and bad decisions will be made thus without the surgery, I would be in the same boat. Hopefully, a s I continue this journey, I can stick to this calorie restriction better than I could before and in the end make this the best decision for me. On another note, it has already helped my .PCOS, cycle, and extreme water retention. Overall, I FEEL GOOD!!!!

measure salad or other super low cal veggies?

do you only do 4 oz. per meal? I am finding it impossible to only eat 3x a day with 4oz. each time and get in all my Protein. Besides, I am still hungry. I don't want to mess my new sleeve up but I don't want to feel hungry either. We all know where that leads to. Also, don't ya think it's important to get in veggies too. Fiber etc. I want to be healthy, not just thin. I exercise ALOT so I feel like I need to eat more to fuel myself.
  8. even if the liquid is like a Soup or something else opaque? I am trying to stick to the 4 oz. but sometimes still feel hungry. I don't want to stretch my sleeve but I do want to make sure my body has all the fuel it needs. I exercise alot. Even at 2 weeks out, I'm back to cardio drills class and even a little running today. So, what do you think, eat a snack or two? Thanks for your help!!!
  9. Should I only be drinking 4oz. of protein shake if it's a meal or because it's liquid can I have it all? I have been going over 4 oz. at my meals, will i stretch my pouch already? Only 2 weeks out, down 21 lbs. but need to eat so I'm not hungry!!
  10. So, my Doc said get my protein naturally and only eat 3 four oz. meals a day. HOW do I get in all the protein I need???? Also, 3 4oz. meals isn't making me full. I do work out alot so that could be part of it but does anyone eat more often or larger amount? Also, what is the calorie count I should be going for? Doc said 200-400 but that's not much, especially with an active lifestyle. ADVICE PLEASE!!!
  11. It will only be 2 weeks this coming wed. and I am on soft and mushy. I am still hungry after 4 oz. and I don't feel any restriction!!! What is going on? Also, stalled already. Lost 17lbs. the first week and now nothing this week. Feeling Extremely fustrated that I am the one this surgery won't work for. What do I do if I'm still hungry after 4 oz. Does everyone just eat 3 meals a day or do people still have a small healthy snack. My MD said NO to any snack but if I'm hungry???? Any help would be appreciated.
  12. thanks for all the info, great help!! What about a little bit of low fat cheese? Anyone use it? Pretty good source of protein. Thoughts?
  13. What is everyone eating in the course of a day. Portions, meals drinks, etc. I'm still a newbie and need some help
  14. I'm on soft and mushy. But, I am still hungry after 4oz. of food and don't feel any restriction. What does it feel like. Also, how much were you eating? Just 3 meals a day or more?
  15. Thanks for the help. This forum is a lifesaver!!!
  16. I am 5 days out and think I'm hungry. I am trying to drink alot of liquids but I "think" there is hunger there. Is this normal to feel hungry? Also, how much liquid should we be consuming? As much as possible? Any help would be great!!

    i think im hungry!!

Thanks everyone!! I will def. try the acid reducer. Tonight I keep fighting with myself to not start moist and mushy early. Wed. I can start and I have lost 17lbs. already so I want to keep the forward motion. Of course now I have the fear that when I do eat, I will not lose.
  18. So I had surgery last wed and I am down 17 yes 17LBS. I can't believe it. Of course, skeptical me says that it's going to stop and the minute I eat food, the weight will just stick. Can someone PLEASE tell me that it's not the case. Has anyone else felt this way? Fear of failure of eating? Too Many emotions to think straight.
  19. I am so excited to find this group. I too am a major gym freak even without weight loss. So, I was wondering how people who excersised alot previuosly do after the surgery. I know that when anyone start to move, that will help with weight loss but what about those of us who were already doing that with no wt. loss results. will we be just as successful?

    Insurance - DENIED!!!

Same happened to me today. Got a call from the hospital to confirm my info and when i called my surgeons office, they told me insurance denied. Waiting to hear about the peer to peer. So dissappointed as well. Bmi is38 and they are saying that PCOS, thyroid disease and all my other things like back pain, high cholesterol etc. are not comorbidities. Hoping this all works out for me and everyone else in the situation. Good Luck all!!!
