Utter Shock
Congratulations on your approval! I know how frustrating it can be.It was almost worth paying for the surgery myself rather than go through what I went through 5 years ago trying to get approved! I was banded on June 27th!! Very happy with my investment. Just wish my insurance policy paid for WLS.

Any june 2011 Banders???
I am very frustrated! My weight has not gone down in 3 weeks...grrrr! I've been eating between 800 and 1000 calories a day and exercising. My first fill, I think, will be this Thursday. I PRAY this will get things going. Everyone says this is normal but I see lots of people on this forum losing 30 lbs and more the first 6 weeks. Sorry for the pitty party!

I was banded 6/27. i lost 11 lbs pre op and 6 pounds surgery week. I have now gone back and forth with 3 llbs for 3 weeks!!!!!! No weight loss at all. I have stuck to my diet plan like crazy and exercised everyday. Drinking 64 + ozs of Water daily. Forget restriction. Why am I not losing ANY weight AT ALL!!!! I feel your pain!

FRUSRATED BEYOND BELIEF!!!!
Thank you for the last two replies. I'm hanging in there and trying to not get too discouraged. My dh has been so positive and supportive! I don't know how a person could go through this process alone. FYI I'm on vacation for the next two and a half weeks. Our car is PACKED with all the food and protein drinks I need - and my trusty scale! LOL

Two things about weighing yourself
I totally agree with Nurse 535! I get critisized for weighing daily but for me it helps me NOT freak on weigh in day because I have my daily record to look at.

I did it! I reached my first HUGE Goal!

Clear protein srink
I drink Isopure Clear Protein Water. I like the Grape Crush! The 20 oz bottle has 160 calories, o fat, o carb, and a whopping 40g protein. I sip throughout the day along with my water intake. If you need to up your protein it's an easy way to do it.

Afraid to call
I went through the whole pre op testing/insurance debacle 5 years ago only to learn my insurace did not cover WLS for anyone! I was so discouraged - gained another 40 lbs-aged another 5 years (53 years old now) and decided in May to bite tne bullet and just pay for thr surgery. I had my surgery June 27 and haven't looked back, only wish I would have done it years ago! So CALL!!!!!!

Thank you sooo much. It's always nice to know you're not alone. I just had a piece of cheese!lol- FRUSRATED BEYOND BELIEF!!!!
I am so frustrated!! I lost 11 pounds during the month before surgery-3 weeks liquids. Surgery was on June 27th. I went down 6 lbs by the end of that week. Woo Hoo!!!! I've NEVER lost that much in a week. Of course I ate next to nothing because anesthesia always depresses my appetite for a week afterwards. I did get every drop of Water in during that time. Okay why am I so frustrated? I went down 2 lbs one single day during the past two weeks, but those 2 lbs have played games with me since that day up 1, up 2, up 3...I never know. I have kept track of every bite that goes in my mouth. I'm on soft Proteins now, not allowed any carbs except veggies and dairy which is great for my diabetes. I am averaging between 600 and 800 calories per day, between 20 and 40 carbs, 70 - 120g Protein, and under 25 g fat. I'm exercising 30 -45 min daily; nothing too strenuous yet. I know what you're all thinking- that's not enough calories. Well I'm 54 and very motivated. I feel like this is my last chance and I'm just trying so hard. Forget the band...how could I gain 1-3 lbs during the past two weeks eating like this. I feel hunger pains several times a day and I gulp water to help them go away. I called my nutritionist today and she was very nice. She wants me to up my calories to 1000 and see if that helps. I'm not sure what to eat? If I could have cream of wheat, oatmeal, potatoes, or whole grain breads it would be easy. Thanks in advance to all of you out there who I know will give me some words of wisdom. On a very positive note - I've reduced my insulin by half!!! Wow-my health was my main and most important reason for having this surgery. And it is helping no doubt. I'll be thrilled when I get "optimization"(new term for restriction..lol) out of my band. Thanks for reading and feel free to ask any questions if you just don't get my point! Today's Food: Protein shake 186 cal. 3oz shaved turkey 100 cal. lt string cheese 50 cal. 4oz Tilapia 109 cal. 1c. green Beans 40 cal. 1/2 c peas 100 cal. 20oz Isopure Protein Clear Water 160 cal. Greek Yogurt 120 cal. 64 oz plain water Total 865 calories- Pre-OP starts in one week - tell me your favorite shake
I love the Designer Whey Chocolate and French Vanilla. It only has 2g of carb which is important to me, and can be bought at your local supermarket. I mix a flavored instant coffee into my shake in the morning, Yum!- Pasta, Rice, Potatoes...
I'm not allowed any carbs except thru veggies and dairy. I'm 21/2 weeks out. He wants me on low low carb til i reach goal.- Surgery Friday and im FREAKING out!
DITTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Not losing weight
I AM FRUSTRATED AS WELL! WEEK TWO-NO WEIGHT LOSS AT ALL GRRRRRR!!!!! I'M WORKING SOOOO HARD AND DOING ALL THE RIGHT THINGS ACCORDING TO MY DOCS PLAN.- hard time with not drinking
I really worried about this because I am a huge fan of water; with or without meals! Surprisingly I've done really well. I put my drink out of reach during my meal AND...... I think about my pouch needing to slowly fill up as I eat, creating that feeling of being satiated. Another trick is to drink a 16oz glass of Water 30 min, before your meal. Hope this helps!- Lap-Band in a week!
Don't worry. All will go so well and you'll finally be on your journey! The actual surgery and recovery were SO much easier than I expected. You'll do great! Stay positive!!!- New to site
Welcome Ken! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!- Swimming
I got clearance at one week. I had dermabond, so no stitches. He also knows I'm a lap swimmer so that may have have helped his decision.- First Fill
My surgeon informed me after my surgery that he left my band empty because it was a snug fit. This is my question: My next appointment will be 6 weeks post op. Do you think he will be more aggressive with the first fill, or is this an unanswerable question????? - FRUSRATED BEYOND BELIEF!!!!
