    Weightloss Expectations

I've lost 41 lbs since my surgery on August 16th. I do eat a lot of chicken and my breakfast is either protein shake or carnation instant breakfast sugar free. I don't exercise like I am supposed to but getting better! I am glad I had the surgery!

    October 19th Surgery

Consider this a special gift to yourself...congrats!
  3. 8 weeks post op tomorrow and down 35 lbs. Moving slowly..but moving and that is what matters!

  4. I just completed my 3rd week post op and having started mushy foods. I've noticed over the last several days that as soon as I eat dinner, regardless of what it is, I get very tired. Does anyone else experience this?

    Tired after dinner?

So it's not just me...good to know!! Thanks!
  6. Nestle is the maker of the Beneprotein. You can buy it from their site or Walkgreens/CVS.

    Vitamin-med rejection

I cannot tolerate my multi-vitamin either so I am holding off on taking it until I move to soft food to see if that helps.

  9. I am having that feeling in the center of my chest also. I think I will do only liquids tomorrow to see if that helps.

    I Just Wanna POOP!

I take Fiber Advance Gummies. They taste good and it helps me get the fiber in and helps me go.

    mushies????

Mashed potatoes, no sugar applesauce, sf jello and low fat refried beans.
  12. haven't really had any of this. My sense of smell is not changed at all. I've only tasted a couple of things that tasted different/bad (mostly sweet things). I haven't had a different body odor, fuzzy tongue or really bad breath. I have noticed that sometimes my urine smells different, even though it's pretty clear (I drink 2-3 l of Water a day). ETA: Something super weird is that since surgery, I can neither hear nor feel myself pee. It's totally silent. WTF is that about? If I change my posture a bit, I can make it make some noise, but if I don't, I can't really tell when I'm done unless I look. Seriously, wtf. Love the humor in your comment...keepin it light!
  13. Thanks for the comment about your period. I am getting my first post-op period and it appears to be very old blood also. Glad it's not just me! Wow! Great question! I thought it was just me. Texasmom, I've had the same problem and it seems to come and go. But when it's here, it's not good! Also, my periods are really weird now. They come on time but it looks like old blood. It's so weird and nasty. Does anyone else have this problem? It's embarrassing to even mention but hey, this is a pretty personal conversation after all.
  14. My surgery was on a Tuesday and I came home on Thursday and began working from home that Friday and following week. This was primarily because I really did not know what to expect and was afraid of throwing up. I went back into the office this past Monday and I was fine. My biggest issue was just being extremely tired when I got home, I could have literally gone to bed at 6pm. However, instead I took a walk with my daughter and that usually gave me my second wind. As for food, I got some great 4 oz Glad containers to pre-package my lunch. My biggest issue in the office has been gurling and gas. By the time I leave the office I cannot wait to just let it out...LOL!
  15. I'm in the same boat and sometime I have to remind myself to eat. I pack my lunch with a small 4 oz container of jello, 4oz protein drink and some other 4 oz snack like sf applesauce. It is my goal while at work to eat some (if not all) of each before I leave the office.
  16. Here's a funny for you: I ordered my kids a pepperoni pizza and all I wanted was a piece of the cheese. I took a chunk of it and chewed it until the taste was completely gone , kinda like gum, and then spit it out. My kids laughed at me but that was all I needed to take care of that craving!

    pain on right or left????

Mine was both...left where the stomache was removed and right where the drain was. 2 1/2 weeks out now and I really don't have any more pain anywhere.
  18. When will insurance companies and employers ever realize that it costs them more to pay for our obesity related diseases and health issues??? So sad! I hope everything works out for your mom!
  19. Love your "chin" comment! I too have lost one of my two chins. Actually the first place my husband noticed my weight loss was in my face. Sunny, I'm a slow loser too and I was sleeved almost 10 days before you! It's a drag when I don't see the scale moving but I try to concentrate on other NSV's. Like the fact that ONE of my chins is gone (still have 2). lol. and the fact that my clothes fit better than they have in years. I'm sure your body is like mine and it's taking its time to adjust. WE WILL LOSE this weight. And this might sound funny to you, but I found when I was able to start eating, and my calories and carbs went up, that is when the scale moves. Did you join myfitnesspal? If so, look for me on there. My user name is prinxessdeb. Good luck sweetie and keep up the great work!
  20. I was sleeved on the 16th and was 235 on the day of surgery. Tonight I finally got below 220 so that's 15 lbs, not far off from you. I bought Beneprotein from Walgreens (mail delivery) and I add one scoop to soup or mashed potatoes (4oz). It gives me 6gm of protein per scoop and there is no taste. However, I am still struggling to get in all of my proteins. I have a lot of the Bariatric Advantage protein mix left but although it was real tasty before surgery, it just seems too thick for me now. I have one more week of pureed foods although I have really struggled with pureed as it is not very good. I've instead stuck with Carnation Instant Breakfast sugar free drinks for breakfast and cream soup (strained) mixed with the protein powder for lunch and/or dinner. I've also starting having more sugar free jello and have found sugar free cool whip which is a nice treat. I've also bent the rules slightly and have had Panera Macaroni and Cheese. I split one bowl into four 4oz containers but can never finish all 4 ounces in one sitting. I chew it really well. Once I started eating this I actually think my heartburn got better also. Also, low fat refried beans have been pretty good to me but again, only a few bites.
  21. I am taking Bariatric Advantage brand for all of my vitamins. They are chewable and some are very tart which is not my preference. I cannot take the multi-nutrient right now as it makes me throw-up. I'm hoping once I can start eating more solids that I can stomache them. However, I would prefer to move to a gummy type vitamin(s) after I run out of this 90 day supply. Any suggestions for the Calcium, Multi-Nutrient, B12 and Iron.
  22. I used to start the day with one 16.9oz bottled water and then just refill it throughout the day from the water machine at work. I also keep tally marks on the bottle and at the end of the day, I dispose of 1 bottle. Of course, I am not quite to that much intake yet but I do plan to keep that same cycle.

    over eating

I know most physicians say to never eat in front of the computer or TV but in our case I do think it helps. My Nutritionist als said that every bite should be chewed 30-35 times. She also said to eat until your "satisfied" rather than "full". Practice makes perfect I guess

    Day 4 since my surgery

My pain was more than I had expected and I also had back pain due to the uncomfortable hospital beds. I found it impossible to sleep on either side until I had the drain removed and I think the fact that I could only sleep on my back contributed to my pain. All better now though and I can actually sleep on my stomache which I have not done in a long time.

    Chewing Gum??

My nurse told me I could chew gum the day I left the hospital (sugar free of course) but she warned that I may experience more gas. I have had gum and the gas is the same either way.
