Initially denied -- but my peer-to-peer should be happening RIGHT NOW!!!! Trying to remain positive.

My peer-to-peer should be taking place right now. Hoping I'm approved.

Woke up in horrible gastric pain last nite. Vomiting and cold sweats!!! Had to lie down on bathroom tile -- just in agony. All this after finally receiving my "written" rejection that stated I do not have serious medical conditions and that my problem with the band these past 4 years is behavioral and not due to a malfunction! Peer to peer scheduled for 5/20, but i' m so scared it too will be denied! Don't know how much longer I can deal with this! I'm so depressed! BMI 37.7, 5'3", 211 lbs. asthma and can't breathe, vomiting, major GERD, food always gets stuck even after all restriction removed, one knee replaced already, renal cell carcinoma 2 years ago, high triglycerides, genetics!!!! Isn't this enough?!!! I can't do this alone. My mother was over 300 lbs when she died and my sister is 325 at least! I'm getting there fast!

Just contacted UHC to check on my benefits. I have Choice Plus through my employer and was told 6-month monitored diet plan isn't required.

I was denied as well. A Peer-to-Peer was scheduled for yesterday and MY DOCTOR MISSED IT!!! I don't know if there was an emergency or not, but I was sooooooo upset. Now I have to wait another week. I know a week doesn't seem like a long time to some, but I too am just so anxious to get this over with. I have GERD so bad I can't sleep. I have to lie in an upright position. PLUS, my chest hurts and it's hard to breathe. I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Just want this revision so badly.

Yes, it stinks. I'm better today though. I'm learning patience through this whole ordeal even though I have massive GERD. Can't take anymore medication for it because what I'm taking causes bone loss -- so I'm not eating 3 hours before bed, sleeping at an angle, and taking mylanta. I'm just miserable.

Yes, I'm in the healthcare profession. One usually lets staff know where he's going to be. But you're right. It's best not to assume anything and to just be patient. Thanx for the advice.

This makes me very sad because I love her so and she's one of the best!!! I'm just so totally upset right now!

My surgeon missed the Peer-to-Peer review to discuss my case!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE MISSED IT!!!! No one could find her -- they couldn't even find her PA. Now they can't reschedule it until May 20. I'm sooooo upset!!!! I have a lap band which has malfunctioned, but because I have a bmi of 38.6 and no "listed" co-morbidities other than asthma, pedal edema, and a major case of GERD, the insurance company denied my initial request for revision to gastric bypass. I've had a bilateral mastectomy and kidney cancer as well within the past 3 years, along with a knee replacement. So a Peer-to-Peer was scheduled for today and SHE MISSED IT!!!!
