  1. I had my third fill last Tuesday. Since then I haven't been able to eat much other than liquids and creamed soups, and most of the time I can only eat a few bites of yogurt or creamed soup. Today I got real thirsty and drank a bunch of liquids not all at once, but I sipped on it over about 30 minutes. Since then I've had a small supper that went down without any problems, and even had a couple of bites of a breadstick (which I haven't had any bread until now it wouldn't have ever went down) anyways I'm worried why all of a sudden can I eat regular food without anything getting stuck? I know it's not good to get things stuck, but I'm worried becouse nearly everything since last Tuesday has gotten stuck causing me to only do liquids and yogurt, and craeam soup why now can I eat regular food. Is something wrong with my band?

    Need help

Ok Thanks! I'm so scared of the band slipping or something going wrong! I could never afford to pay for another one!
  3. I also used true results. I was private pay, but they take care of everything they will battle your insurance for you, and schedule all your appointments. It won't cost you any extra. As a matter of fact I used them becouse it was so much cheaper they can get good deals. They set me up with Dr. Joseph Cribbins in Plano. He's in the big building that is in the same parking lot as the presbyterian hospital in Plano. I also go to him for my fills, he does them under flouroscopy. I've been happy with my results.
  4. I am an RN I went back to work after a week, but I have good friends that are the CNA's and LPN's were I work, so I didn't do any lifting for about 5 weeks. I didn't want to mess anything up!

4 ccs in Band / So confused!

It can all be so frustrating at times! I can relate with you in some ways. I have gotten two fills so far since surgery May 25, 2011 they only give me 1 cc at a time, so I have 2 cc total. I loose weight really good the first 7-10 days I loose about 7-9 pounds then nothing the rest of the month! It sounds crazy but it is true!! I'm not sure why this is exactly, but what I do try to think about is how far I've came since the beginning! I've never lost 40 pounds in a little over three months before. I would love to share with you a book that I found packed away the other day, I wrote about it in another tread just a minute ago, I had to read this book for a biology class I had when I was in college for the nursing program. It's called The ultimate fit or fat by Covert Bailey. It is thin doesn't take long to read, and it breaks down what is going on in the body before, during, and after excersice. It explains how to exercise the right way to ensure your body is burning fat and making more fat burning enzymes not just burning stored sugar. It also explains which excersices burns more fat than others. It is a dated looking book and starts out slow, but has alot of helpful information. I just wanted to share that with you. I'm not sure if you like to read or not, but it was an eye opener for me when I re-read it recently. Good luck to you, and everyone out there who is on this journey. We will be sucessful!!
  6. I wanted to share with everyone a book I came across that I had forgotten about. It's titled The ultimate fit or fat by Covert Bailey. I had to read it years ago for a college class I had when I was in the nursing program. It starts out slow and looks kind of dated. If you will read it, you will see how much sense it makes. It talks about nutrition and exercise. It breaks down the reasons why exercise is important and how to do it properly to ensure your body is burning fat and making more fat burning enzymes and not just burning sugar. The author is a doctor so he will explain things from a biology viewpoint. He will explain how certain exercise will burn more fat than others. All the exercises he talks about are things that can be done at home no gym membership required. You may be shocked to read this information. The book is thin won't take long to read. It may just change your life. I re-read it a few weeks ago and it all makes sense I feel more confident than ever that I can loose the weight I need.

    Let's Talk Exercise!

I love your reply! I thought I was the only one that turns on 80's music! Sometimes I use some 90's that's more my era, but I love 80's!

I have to make a decision..

I would go for the sleeve! I thought about it myself, and at times wonder if I should've gone that route! You will do good with the sleeve. I think that you won't have any regrets! Surgeries are scary no matter what your having done, and they all have complications risk, so just go with the one your doctor thinks would be best, and be regret-free! Good luck, and keep us posted. Also you can stay with this forum if you want!! I would def. join a sleeve forum for answers to questions, but your always welcomed here too!
  10. I too was very hungry after surgery! I just kept drinking, and finally it got better. I'm two weeks post op, and can't wait to get to eat again! The only thing I can eat besides popsicles, and jello is creamed soups for the first 5 weeks. I'm counting the days down!

I would so like to be a pre-op!

I didn't post yesterday simply becouse I didn't know what to say! You are right it just wasn't meant to be at this time! I hope you consider possibly going through the process without the surgery (if that makes since!!) Start with the 2 week pre-op diet then 5 weeks post-op diet then change to eating like a lapband pt. does. I take small everything sips of liquids as well as bites, and wait a minute between each bite. Use a saucer plate to eat off, count all your calories, and chew up everything very well! Don't drink 30 minutes before or after your meal, so that it will stay in your stomach longer, and you stay full longer. I'm sure you know all this! It's just an idea. I do have a band, and have lost lots of wt already, but I don't have much restriction yet. I haven't had any fills, and won't for another 3 weeks! I get hungry, and crave things I can't eat just like I did before. I just deal with it differently now. I try to sip on water or protein shake when I get hungry etc. I just know it's going to work for you somehow!
  12. I'm so happy for you! It was exciting to hear your progress, and to see that you can still eat some reg food just a tiny amount without spitting up or any of that stuff! I hope I can get where you are soon! I was banded on May 25th so I'm still on the full liquid until the last week of June!

Will be watching for the results tomorrow!

    Full on Panic Mode

You are doing the right thing! I spent several years with a BMI like yours, and wish I would've done something then! Instead I waited, and by the time I done it I had a BMI of 50! Go for it! I was banded on May 25th. Started my pre-op on May 11. I've already lost 18 pounds! It has been difficult at times, but I couldn't have done it without the help of my band!

    What don't I know

I also wanted to mention that you will have to drink protein shakes to supplement protein starting on your pre-op diet. I suggest to start getting different ones, and try them to see what works for you ahead of time. I didn't do that, and I was stuck several times with terrible tasting shakes I couldn't stand to drink, but was forced to until I could buy a different kind becouse I was already on my pre-op and couldn't eat meat. Finally I found unjury (classic chocolate is my fav!) I was so happy it tasted wonderful even my 14 year old tasted it and liked it. I had to order him a jug of it! He said it tast like a yahoo! Also find out what your pre-op diet will be, and start experimenting with the foods to see what you do, and don't like. Again I didn't do this ahead of time, and was stuck doing it during the diet. I learned fast that regular campbells soup and the healthy request campbells soup tasted way different!! Anyway that is my suggestion is to find out what the pre -op and post-op diets will be, and start figuring out what works for you ahead of time, and stock up on it!!

    What don't I know

I think you are making a great decision! You obviously have the perfect mindset to be a bandster! I was impressed by the way you worded your forum when you said something about getting a band to assist you with changing your life. That is exactly what it does it only helps you there is still a lot of work that has to come from within. I was banded on the 25th of May, and my doctor requires me to be on a diet that consist of sugar free liquids, Protein shakes, popsicles, yougurt, pudding, creamed Soups for the first 5 weeks. All sugar free, and low sodium! It has been tough at times! You have to realize that the band doesn't get filled for the first time until 5 or 6 weeks post-op, there is some restriction that is from just putting the band on, but not like it will be after a fill. I think it is important to know that yes even after you get you band you will go through periods when you feel hungry, and you have to fight it off that first month until you start getting fills! It will take several fills (everyone is different) to get to that "sweet" spot. With that being said it is the best thing I've ever done. The hunger doesn't stay it just comes every now and then. I've learned to drink Water or some Protein shake, and it ususally goes away! It has been worth it I've lost a total of 18 pounds since I started with the 2 week pre-op diet on the 11th of May. Good luck with your decision!
  17. I was just banded a week ago on the 25th. I am starving. I'm still on clear liquids plus protein shakes. I've stuck to it well, and have lost 8 lbs since surgery a week ago. It has been tough at times my stomach growls constantly with hunger!! I wonder if maybe I'm not drinking enough water? I stick to the 2 ounces at a time that the paper tells me to drink, so I'm not sure if I could hold more or not! I feel satisfied for about 20 or 30 minutes then the growling starts back in my stomach!! Is this normal? If so then I'm ok with it! I'm willing to do what it takes to make this work!

I would so like to be a pre-op!

Today and tomorrow are the last days to vote! Please don't put it off! And Henrikka, I would want the same done for me! It only takes a minute, so it's no problem or burden at all! Please Henrikka don't feel bad at all if you don't get it (for us that is I've tried to help you on my own free will) I don't like to talk negative,so I'm keeping a positive outlook that it will happen. I never thought it would happen for me either! I finally saved 10,000 dollars, and was still so discouraged becouse the surgeons around here where I live had a price of 15,000 to 16,000 dollars. I was so upset, and just feeling down one day when just for fun I typed in lapbands in Dallas, and at that moment I knew my dream was going to come true! I started seeing all these places pop up on the computer that offered lapbands for 8,500-9,900! I went with TLC Edge (used Dr. Cribbins from Plano,TX) and paid $8,590 all inclusive price. I couldn't believe it I actually had money left over!! I've wanted wt. loss surgery since before the lapband even came out. It was just one disappointment after another then everything changed within just a few seconds! So I feel either way you will end up with a lapband! Good luck Henrikka! I can't wait until June 6th when the results are announced!
  22. I used TLC Edge, and have been very satisfied with them. I looked into True results, but eventually decided on TLC Edge. I used DR. Cribbins. There was not any real reason that I chose one over the other, they both appeared great. I guess TLC Edge just felt like what was meant for me. They were also a little cheaper ( I am private pay)! With that being said the reason TLC Edge is cheaper is that for the price they only include 1 fill after surgery, True results price is more, but includes more fills afterwards. With TLC Edge the fills are 200 dollars, they do them under fluoroscopy to try and prevent the "guessing game" that some pple go through when they get fills that are either not enough, or too much! I'm not sure how true results does their fills it may be something you want to check on. TLC Edge was $1,400.00 dollars cheaper. Like I said that only includes one fill. Good luck with your decision!
