Week of February 8th ... join me?
I do not have surgery til May, but I want to wish all of you luck, especially you Bella. I hope you keep your weight down pre-op so there is no cancellation. I have wanted to do the same as you about dumping things out of my kitchen and dumping stuff out of the house. LOL...I have months to do it. My wife said that we should not dump out everything in the fridge and cupboard because they still live here and they will eat as before LOL...gonna have to be ok with this one I think. It will be fine. Again, good luck to everyone having there surgeries in the weeks to come. Peace, Rob

I am going to this Tiff! It describes exactly what I will probably feel and the end were good words to live by. Thanks so much for your comment!! I will post a blog to say what the doctor had to say.

*Almost* one week out...
- So anxious
Thanks Chandra for your words and the website resource. I will definately check it out. I am involved already on YouTube with a WLGroup and as a vlogger. I love seeing other people succeed at stuff. It is so encouraging. I will keep you posted. Go to see the doctor on Thursday to talk to him for the first time since this process began. Rob :confused1:- Making a List
I was supposed to see my doctor today, but I have 2 sick kids at home. This would have been the first actual visit with my doctor since the pre-op exam and education. I have been making a list of all the things I want to talk to him about. One of the things is his opinion on a psych consultation. I have had a bit of anxiety, but mostly just trying to figure out what I relationship is to food. Sometimes I feel like I have a decent relationship with food, then I think it is a bit extreme. I do not gorge myself ever, but I do have a sweet tooth. One of my things is avoiding the sweets, but I have been pretty decent this past month. Another thing on my list is the pre-op diet, the protein intake afterwards, drinks, etc. I, of course, have found this site to be my best resource for resources. Thanks for everyone here. I will keep reading and adding to the list. Just got off the phone with the doctors office, now I go in on Thursday. YAY!- *Almost* one week out...
Awesome to hear you are doing so well. Maybe you can help ME. A couple people have talked about this Wii Fit...what is it? Is it a scale or is it the game? Please, educate me. =)- Dealing with Pre-Op Anxiety?
Bambi, this will help me!! I am going to take some snap shots and a video of myself and put them in my laptop, so I can have them with me when I am in the hospital. I am going to go take out all my "skinny" clothes and put on what fits now. Look at what I have waiting for me in the months to come. I know I so look forward to looking better. Anxiety is part of this process, but I think Tiff and the others had great ideas. I, myself, try to find my "happy place" and stay focused on the positives. I had thought about seeing a psychiatrist before hand, I have decided to ask my doctor what he thinks, but it might be a good idea. Good luck!!! Rob- Tomorrow is the big day with Dr. Jay
Good luck with your surgery! I hope that you have a problemless surgery and post-op! Rob- mexican chicken and black beans
Shoot!! I have 4 months to wait for my surgery - I am trying this recipe tomorrow =)- VSG first Blog Ever
Welcome to the forum PtoS. Gratz on your date. I am still learning about the diet prior to surgery myself. I have seen a few different ones...it has been based a lot on your doctors wishes for you - some are conservative and some are aggressive. Good luck on your research, diet, and surgery...the people here are fantastic and very supportive. Rob- So anxious
Diane, Gratz on getting your pre-exam and testing done. I am done as well. I have a tentative date in May. I do understand what you are feeling. You have 6-8 weeks and I have about 4 months - it feels exactly the same hehe. I, like you, want to get it done NOW. I live in Norway and had made arrangements already to go on vacation to see my family in the USA in April. They wanted to do the surgery in March. I, of course, booked my tickets about a week before I called into to do my pre-exam and testing. It is ALL I can think about. I am on this site, like, 2-3 times a day. I am a sleeve addict right now LOL! Good luck in the quickest date possible. Keep us posted, I will be following your progress =) Rob- I am NORMAL!
AWESOME DEEDEE!!!! I so look forward to mine one day =) I have no doubts that it will just keep getting better and better.- Gallstones it is. . .
Tiff, I have heard that you can have gallbladder issues with rapid weight loss. Sorry to hear that you were so plagued by it. Percocets didn't help? Wow, definately ask for more pain meds =) You are in my thoughts and prayers. Be well and may you have a quick, safe, recovery. Rob- It is not enough to be thinner...it is much more.
- Feb 1st, for a sleeving good time
Good Luck Loser. Hope all goes well with your surgery and recovery. I am also someone with a bit of a love for food, but ever since I found out I was having the surgery, I have lost my appetite LOL! I dunno if that is normal, but I do know it has helped keep the weight off. I eat small and frequent instead of large and not so frequent. Liquids will be tough too, but if we get the ok to chew gum shortly after surgery, I will A-OK Rob- No more diabetic medication !!
Oh you do not know how glad I was to come across this thread. I have type II diabetes. I have had it for 16 years - medication controlled. I take minidiab, actos, and metaformin. I sure hope this surgery has the same effect on me. WTG and good luck in all you do...thanks for sharing. Rob- How long before did you start your PRE-OP DIET? Days? weeks?
Is there a strange feeling changing your diet like you and Linda did? I mean that literally, feeling as in headaches, nausea, etc.?- Diabetes and The Sleeve
I am curious if there is anyone else out there with Type II Diabetes that can answer this question. Does the Diabetes disappear after the surgery? I have heard it works well with the DS surgery, but I have heard nothing about the sleeve. Please, if you have answers ... share =) Thanks, Rob- Anyone schedule with Dr. Aceves Jan 31 - Feb 4?
Hey there. I will not be there, but I will be praying for you. I am excited to track your surgery with you. I see you have been through so much with your Band, and I know you are excited to get Sleeved. Good luck and as they say in Norway...Lykke Til (Good Luck) Rob- It is not enough to be thinner...it is much more.
I have battled with my body for the past 25 years...16 of which I have had Type II Diabetes. Over the years I have been trying to keep the weight off. Sometimes I have been very rebellious and ate what I darn well wanted to - of course, I paid for it too. I have always been on medication for the diabetes and have managed to dodge the insulin need. Last year, my doctor decided to have a long talk with me and we decided together, that the best thing for me would be to have WLS. I had in my thoughts, that I would lose weight the "normal" way this whole last year...and that was an epic FAIL. As a New Year's resolution, I was determined I would DO IT!! I have been successfully working out regularly, eating right, and feeling good about my crashing blood sugars (a good sign I am doing all the right things). My body has been telling me that with the right formula of diet and exercise I have no need for medication. BUT my weight has not been dropping off and I do not know why. I have lost 5 lbs in 3-4 weeks. Frustrating, but now, I believe my body needs more. 2 weeks ago I got my letter to report to the hospital for education and pre-surgery exam. It got me to thinking...do I need it? Should I do it? Ups and downs, Robert...lack of ability to keep it off - ya, I believe now, I need it. May is when it will happen. An actual date will be produced between now and the end of February. I will keep everyone appraised of the actual date. I am both nervous and excited. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Peace, Rob- Pre-Surgery Food
So sorry - Posted this in the wrong thread. Should have been posted in beginners. Hello everyone, I am an American living in Norway and it will be here that I get my surgery. They told me that I will be doing a special diet before my surgery. It is to prepare my brain for the changes to come. The diet will be based on some Norwegian food...but my my question is this: Did you guys get a special diet to prepare for your surgery? If so, what was it? They told me I should try to lose some weight before. I am making a good effort and exercise nearly daily and eat small meals - often. I have not yet started this diet of 990 calories. Please, let me know. Thanks for reading and your input would be appreciated. Rob- Here in Mexicali and sleeved
YAY! It is done. I pray for you to have a safe and fast recovery. I am getting more excited for mine now. Keep us updated as you feel better. No pressure =) Rob- I believe this is the right thing to do.
Tiffykins, Your words are inspiring. I feel like I am in the same boat with Andreanoelle. Up and down with emotions, this decision has consumed me (no pun intended =)) I hope that I feel the same as you after I go throught the surgery. I feel more confident already since I signed onto this forum. Thanks, Rob - So anxious
