  1. HH - Your trip sounds heavenly!! How long were you gone? Are the leaves changing? (must be!) I was there about 10 years ago and every little town is like a picture postcard....so beautiful! I'll bet ya'll had a wonderful time. Hey, maybe we could do that for our Violets trip?? That way Jenn could join us! I could definitely do a long weekend in Conn., VT or somewhere up there. It's so different from Texas!
  2. Yeah you have to vary your routine because, as with any other repetitive action, your body is very clever and will adapt to conserve energy. We do NOT want to conserve energy!
  3. Kat - I ditto what Michelle said. I have a friend who also had thyroid cancer...she was in her late 30's at the time. Her treatment was like Michelle described...nothing like the chemo you had before. We'll all be praying for you! It worked for Kinsey! We must have some kind of power with the Universe! If love counts for anything, then you're covered!! Amanda - You sure go to a lot of weddings! LOL Any excuse to celebrate, eh? Glad to hear your mam is going with you. TracyK - keep us informed about your nephew...poor baby. Makes me so sad that someone would be that desperate. When Evan (ds) was 15 I found suicide notes that he had written....and as you can imagine we jumped all over it and that marked the beginning of his treatment which has proven to be a life-saver (literally). He was dx'd borderline ADHD and 'mildly' bi-polar...the kind that hopefully he will outgrow when his hormones stop raging. He is 150% better now and where he was depressed and failing school, he is now much, much happier and, for the first time since elementary school, brought home A's and B's on this first six weeks' report card...including in Physics, Calculus and Engineering Design! You can imagine the sigh of relief I am breathing! Ya'll have a great day!
  4. If you have excellent credit (like I do) then you don't need to get a "medical procedure loan" unless you just want to do that! When I checked on those the interest rate was much higher than I was able to get on my credit card. I have 3 major credit cards. I called each of them and told them I was about to make a major purcchase of $14000... and what could they offer me in terms of special interest rates, etc. I ended up with 9 months at 0%, then 8.9% after that. The 'loan' was 14.9%! Shop around.
  5. I posted a poll back in March with a similar title. Over 300 people responded and 92% said that they would do it again...and 8% said they would not. Now I'm 6 months out and I love my band!!! If I had some type of complication and had to have it removed I'd be devastated. If I had the option of being re-banded I'd definitely do it.
  6. Well, I broke down and got a bugg....got it on Ebay for $230 brand new. Feel pretty good about that. So you'll be seeing me 'round here in a few days as i try to sort it all out!
  7. What's great about intense machines is that you do get a very good workout in a short period of time! I burn 100 calories in 10 minutes on the rowing machine....but I'd have to walk 35 minutes to burn the same amount! I'm all about getting out of the gym ASAP!! And I am only able to do about 10 mins on the rower before I poop out, too! But I started out doing 4 minutes 3 weeks ago...so I'm already making progress. You'd hate the treadmill eventually, too! You made a very good choice. Just be patient with yourself.
  8. Accountability time!... B: WC oatmeal with milk & butter L: chicken salad, 4 saltines, plum S: orange D: tilapia & green beans& sugar free fudgsicle Still working on my water -- should get in 64 oz. Exercise: rowing, cycle & elliptical 50 minutes NET CALORIES: 721; 58 g protein Everyone did great today!! Keep it up!!! TracyK - I am so very sorry about your nephew! That really breaks my heart. My boss has a son with a seizure disorder and he is in a group home and doing very well. Unfortunately it is extremely expensive. I cannot imagine the grief your sister (and all your family) must be experiencing. If something like that happened to my precious nephew I'd go crazy! Kat - I'm trying not to worry....but you're not helping!! When are you going to know the results of these tests? Jenn - Obviously there IS work in other towns as our fellow violets attest!... would you ever consider relocating? Sounds like your town just doesn't have any work! What's the dang deal?
  9. A husband and wife were scheduled to attend a Halloween party. The wife got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the Halloween party alone. He, being a devoted husband, protested, But she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his good time to be spoiled by her not going. So he took his costume and away he went. The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour, woke without pain, and as it was still early, decided to go to the party. As her husband didn't know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him. So she joined the party and soon spotted her husband in his costume, cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice 'chick' he could and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there. His wife went up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his new partner high and dry and devoted his time to her. She let him go as far as he wished, naturally, since he was her husband. After more drinks he finally whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed, so off they went to one of the cars and had passionate intercourse in the back seat. Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away and went home and put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make up for his outrageous behavior. She was sitting up reading when he came in, so she asked what kind of time he had. 'Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there.' Then she asked, 'Did you dance much?' He replied, I'll tell you; I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guy, so we went into the spare room and played poker all evening. 'You must have looked really silly wearing that costume playing poker all night!' she said with unashamed sarcasm. To which the husband replied, 'Actually, I gave my costume to your brother, apparently he had the time of his life'.
  10. WOO HOO!!! I just won an auction for a Body Bugg!! A new gizmo! $230!! Ok, I just calculated it and so far this weight loss journey has cost me roughly $477/pound lost! Remind me never to do this calculation again!!
  11. The body bugg does not calculate what calories you put IN....you do that thru the food input database on their website (like dailyplate.com) but the bugg does calculate how much energy (calories) you've expended during the day and I believe it does it by your pulse and body temp...things like that...in addition to information you've given on your profile. There is a monthly service fee also. There is a body bugg thread in the exercise forum with lots of info.
  12. Pamela - I totally want a Body Bugg and have been shopping on Ebay for one....I refuse to pay $350!!! I can maybe get one for $225-250 if I"m lucky. However, if you don't like using Daily Plate or Fitday, you probably won't like Body Bugg (from what I hear)....that the food data interface is "hard to use". Just something for you to research and think about. I figure I can get away with wearing one more easily now that the cooler weather is coming and I 'll be wearing more sleeves.
  13. Good Morning Sweeties! Well, it's Monday -- another opportunity to START OVER! Laura, I'm like you dear...I grazed all weekend...and my weekend was 3 days long! I made the mistake of buying some cookies "for the kids" :car: and ended up eating about 10 of them myself! I always dream of being retired but I tell ya, it's a good thing I'm not. I'm always grateful for the work week and the more strict environment it affords....I always have my water (Propel) right here, I keep healthy foods in the fridge and I stay busy. I weighed 186.6 this morning and I am just not a happy camper at all. :car: Oh, and I can't eat shrimp at all either!! Crab is ok. Who pledges with me to track every single calorie that goes into their mouth this week? We have to report in at the end of every day! Pamela - Girl, you sound sick like a dog!!! I"m glad you took the day off...there's no point going in sick. Just makes things worse! Gina - no need to apologize...always glad to see you! WAY TO GO on reaching your new milestone!! That feels so awesome...I seem to remember something about that!? LOL Kat - DANG that sure was a load of stuff you got for $15!!!! I got some beading done yesterday but the project is going to be a slow one...but fun!! It's so frustrating when I can't find a component I want, though. I spent probably 2+ hours looking online and in hardware and craft stores for a 1/2" antique brass O-ring. I finally found some on Ebay...I can get 100 of them from Hong Kong for $9!! LOL Anybody need one?? So then I researched how to oxidize raw brass and making the component myself. I have the brass sitting in a dish of vinegar now...LOL Hope it works. (Fun, huh??) Well, it keeps me off the streets.
  14. TracyK -- When did you get to 197??? Last I remember we were celebrating 199.5!!! How the heck did you lose 2.5# since then??? DANG!!! We need some WWTD bracelets now! Oh yes, I've 'forgotten' that I have the band before...at least a couple of times. And always doing like you did...just popping something in my mouth as I pass. That is a bad habit that I would love to break. Michelle - BREATHE!!! It will all come together in a day or two...you know you have to make a mess to clean up a mess!! A week is a long time. It'll be great! Yesterday I filled up a pitcher with water (64 oz) just to see if I was drinking as much water as I thought I was during the day. I mean, I knew I had to kick it up but I thought I was around 40+ oz. without 'trying'...y'know? Well yesterday I really was trying to PUSH the water and I only drank 42 ounces!! What an eye-opener!!! So I'm doing it again today and see if I can do better. Jeez...that was pitiful. It's 10:30 though and I've only had coffee which doesn't count. Judy - sounds like you had a great time!! We were thinking about you!!!!
  15. Laura - You are really looking so good!! so sexy!! Ms. Jen - I ALSO recommended that same book to Jennifur a long time ago. In the Meantime helped me turn my life around and get out of a relationship that had my head really messed up. I still recommend that book and I read it 8 years ago! Kat - Would you believe I didn't get to sit down to bead until 6:30p!! I'm doing a similar necklace to the last one...in antique brass but with reds, oranges, yellows and golds...(sponge coral, pineapple quartz, citrine, honey jade, carnelian, topaz, and Swarovski crystals). Pamela - sorry you're sick!! Hope you're planning to take it real easy tomorrow! Yeah, when my kids (14 and 17!) are here I have a hard time keeping the house clean, too! That's why I didn't get to bead until 6:30!!
  16. (((Pamela))) Well thank God your other students protected you, at least!!! I'm sure that 90% of your kids love you to pieces (just a hunch I have)....and the other 10% wouldn't treat anyone with respect...even if the Pope himself were standing there teaching that class. They oughta have full-time psychological counselors on staff to help the teachers like they do for the students. It's just not right to ask our teachers to put up with so much, to do so much and then pay them shit wages. There is a monument to this atrocity right across the road from my subdivision. It's called the Berry Center ... a $73 million facility that includes a football field, sports arena, theatre, etc. Man, is it fancy!! But yet the teachers have to pay for their own tuition for an advanced degree so that they can get a $1000 raise in their salary?? $73 million. That's a lot of clams. I just don't get it. We can find the money to fund a war that nobody wants....but don't have money to educate our children? I don't get it. Pammy - major congrats on the new number!!!! Gotta love it! I woke up this morning "feeling skinny"...I know you all know what I'm talking about! LOL Then step on the scale and gained a pound!! Grrrr. I was really hoping to see 184 this morning. Oh well!!!!!!! I get to bead today, so that makes me happy! Will encourage Evan (ds) to put in a job application or two today. He's not able to drive his car until he gets a job and its making me crazy to have to drive him everywhere like the old days!! Aaaaack! (((Jenn))) - did you hear anything more about that shop job??
  17. Uh, I don't look very smart compared to you geniuses!! I feel smart, but I guess I'm NOT. LOL
  18. NYTrink and I must have the same scale. I like the digital, it's very consistent. However, the BF% is way off and I'm not too keen on that!
  19. I just wanna know...is your desk always so neat?? You're making me look really BAD!!
  20. Laura - was it you who said that their favorite meatloaf was on the box of Lipton Onion Soup Mix? Well I made that tonight and it was delicious! Mmmmmm. Thanks!
  21. Pamela - I meant to mention to you that I am a Beatles freak! My sister is 7 years older than me and was 13 when they came to America.... you know what THAT means!! OMG that's all she could eat, breathe and sleep for 5 years. She wore out every album and had to buy 2nds many times. She still has all her old original ones...but they are not in good condition 'cause she played the hell out of them! While we were in Vegas we saw the Cirque de Soleil show "Love" which is a tribute to the Beatles. It was a truly amazing show....wonderful as all Cirque de Soleil shows are, but this one brought up so many emotions and memories for anyone as old as me! LOL I don't know when I've enjoyed any kind of show, concert or performance more than I enjoyed that one. So I bought the soundtrack when I got home and play it whenever i"m in the car. It's cool because it's got some interesting studio versions of the songs we love and they are mixed by George Martin himself. I also have a Beatles coffee table book that I've been reading when I sit down to eat and the house is quiet. I also just ordered Sgt. Pepper's, The White Album, and Abby Road CD's. So yeah, i guess you could say I'm a Beatles fan! LOL I see you were born in the Summer of Love!
  22. Can someone explain to me what is going on here? What is Page Ranking? I see that every once in awhile and it drives me nuts. HAYDEE - Josie wont be back until very late October or early November, I think. You and I can get together if you want! I can do Monday or Friday next week...or if you want to meet a bunch of crazy girls you can come out with us on Wed. We're gonna meet at this great little restaurant, sit on the patio and have wine and italian food! You are more than welcome!
  23. Kat, well yeah....I agree whole-heartedly! The other day I stopped in over at the October 07 thread just to give some encouragement and it was kinda sad....they only had a handful of people posting....with like one post every 2 days!! Once again I was made very grateful for the friendship and support I've found here. It's my day off today and I was up at 5:20. Grrrr. Oh well, lots I want to do today so might as well get into it...starting with the gym! It's getting bad when I can guess my weight within 0.4# almost every time. Ha! Who needs a scale? I'm still teetering. Have a good morning! I'll check in later!
  24. Hi Chantay! Welcome!! Here's a good article about drinking water and why it's important: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/water-cure-30944/
