Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here
G'morning all- I had a long post last night...then lost it...so I just said %*#! it and went to bed. LOL No, mom is still in the hospital. NOW her potassium is low so they're pumping her full of that before they do this colonoscopy...supposedly she's getting out today. She has a new roommate now...a very nice lady who is facing all sorts of new health issues. Her phone rings constantly and you can't help but overhear, but from what I gather she went into a diabetic coma and she didn't even know she was diabetic! But then I also figured out that she was FIRED from her job while she was in the hospital!!! Her boss actually had a courier deliver a letter to her as she was laying in her bed! And...get this...he's a lawyer! OMG!! Anyway, she may have pancreatic cancer on top of all that and is waiting to hear. So, my friends, the lesson here is to be grateful! Things could be so much worse! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It means so much to be able to come here to vent and be supported. XOXOXOXO Pammy - I'm thinking about you!! I do hope your knee miraculously healed itself! How are you feeling? Judy - you are an exercise FREAK! Surely you are losing weight!...right? TracyK - Don't tell me.... You dropped another 2 pounds today? LOL You might need to change your goal weight to 125! Ya'll have a great day!!

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here
Good morning, everyone! I'm kind of a wreck today and just need to vent. I went to the hospital to see mom last night and she's not doing well at all! She has one more test this morning and i'm hoping they'll discharge her very soon after that. I just want to get her home and nurse her back to health! Hospitals suck so bad...it's no place to be if your sick, that is FOR SURE. She's so much worse than when she went in...her anemia might be 'cured' but she's just toasted from all the stress, lack of food and sleep. Just pray for her, if you will... she might not bounce back from this ordeal! Laura - I hope you had a great birthday and so sorry DH was sick! Man, there's been a lot of crap going around, hasn't there? So what's your favorite dish at Red Lobster? I'm always curious why people like that restaurant so much...it IS very, very popular. I've been once or twice and not found it to be great...but maybe it's because we have so many fine seafood restaurants here on the coast that I"m just spoiled! Mahi-Mahi is my favorite! And I used to love fried shrimp! Can't eat shrimp at all anymore  Denise - How is everything with your daughter that was having such issues with her bf? I think about her often. Jenn - Maybe your grandmother is now up there pulling some strings for you to snag that job. Ask for her help!! You know how angels are...you gotta ask! Love you guys... ttyl!

Laura - I hear you on the eating/no smoking thing!! Sorry to tell you, but that kind of behavior got me 60# in the blink of an eye. I was very comfortably at my goal weight (after Atkins)...then quit smoking like i told myself I would. BAM!!! Say hello to 60# and a new high weight. Don't know what to tell you other than what you already know. Sorry!

Shrink'n Violets TIP 'O THE DAY!!
Aristotle said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." Which are you going to reinforce today? Your old tired habit or your healthy new one? Because the brain cells that fire together wire together, whichever you choose becomes ever more grooved in. The choice is yours. --M.J. Ryan

I sure wish Jenn would check in. (((Jenn))) Laura - you're a lucky girl!! That's beautiful!!!! It'll fit you just perfectly in a short while! Tracy - Glad Frank is better!! My boss has this THING about never taking a sick day.....even when he's SICK!!! So guess what?! He's been here for two days with the *#!@*# flu!! It really makes me mad when people do that. So inconsiderate (not to mention stupid)!! All I can do is wash my hands about 100 times/day and keep them away from my face. Mom's still in the hospital ... should be getting out today. DH still being a jerk. My weight was at 185.4 this morning....a 6 month high. <sigh> Going to call about getting a fill. On the bright side, I have signed up for 2 metalsmithing classes...that makes me happy.

Thanks, you guys.... Pam, she is taking soooooooo many medications right now. i could list them all and tell you what each one is for but I"ll spare you. She's not in pain, I think she just has a fear of colonoscopies for some reason...she has never had one although she's had every other kind of test under the sun in her lifetime. I don't know what's gotten into her, but getting doped up is the last thing she would want. She just wants to go home....even if "home" is my house now. She has a 100 yr old, virtually comatose moaner and groaner in the bed next to her and i think it's gettin on her last nerve. The sterioids she has to take make her agitated and aggressive....along with her anxiety disorder! She takes Lexapro for that.

Kat - Thanks for adding my mom to the prayer list. That is so very kind of you. She's still in the hospital and doing better since she received 2 pints of blood and some Iron. They have not determined the cause of her anemia and are ruling out gastrointestinal causes by doing an endoscopy and colonoscopy. HOWEVER, today she is refusing to do a colonoscopy and is demanding to be discharged. I have a call into the doctor and am waiting to hear what he has to say about THAT! Of all days, DH is being a jerk, too. Sometimes I wish I had a guy like Rick or the Bobster...but I don't. Not a good day for the Doodler at all.

Jenn - Don't know if you're tuned in and logged on or not...or will be maybe later, but i had a thought for you. My bff's mom died in the hospital recently after a long illness. Her husband and kids were by her side 24/7 for weeks...but it came time for the kids to get back home, get the kids back in school and try to get some normalcy in their lives. BFF was going to head right back in a day or so. Her mother had passed within 12 hours of their all leaving. BFF's dad stayed behind, of course, to be with his wife. He did leave her side to go down to the cafeteria for a break, to get a little food and coffee. When he came back up, his wife had passed. The nurses told them that this happens quite often....that being by their side actually keeps them tied to us and wanting to stay near....but in the quiet...alone....they will finally choose to let go and pass over. Interesting. Hope it helps you in some way. Love you.

Shrink'n Violets TIP 'O THE DAY!!
"Anything you know you forget. It's all about getting confused and getting unconfused." That's a piece of wisdom from Buddhist teacher Sylvia Boorstein to remind us that we're only human. Are you treating yourself kindly today? You may mess up or forget. When you do, your task is to hold yourself in love, not shame. You and I are human beings dealing with the challenges of growth. When you treat yourself with kindness, you can try again with greater wisdom for having faltered. --M.J. Ryan

Laura, I seriously doubt there is much they can do for you at the doctors office.... you have the flu. It's a virus and they can't give you any kind of pill for that! Just call and ask what you should be taking. Try some Thera-flu tea? Hot tea with honey and lemon? Chicken soup is a good bet. Just lots and lots of fluids, ok? It will help to keep that gunk flowing out of your head and chest. Mucinex is an expectorant...it loosens the congestion in your chest, that's all. You need a decongestant for your head and Tylenol for your aches and pains...or children's Motrin would be even better. Oh, and Chloroseptic for your sore throat.

I remember a "tip" I once read that made good sense to me...maybe it was here on LBT. You make a deal with yourself something like, "No LBT until I do 30 minutes on the <insert torture device here>." A reward for your hard work. Work, then play. In YOUR case, you could say no more "O"s until I do 30 minutes on the...." That'll get your butt motivated!!
