  1. Oh, and by the way....after Day One of my pouch test diet, I GAINED 1/2 pound!! Story of my freakin' life.
  2. YAY!! Haydee's back!!! We missed you!!!!!! That is just creepy on SO MANY LEVELS!!!! LOL The tofu is chopped up so fine that I promise you that they will NOT even know it's in there....but doubling the ham will be yummy too! Yeah, you know they say to "stay ahead of the pain" to control it best....so take your pills as soon as you start to feel uncomfortable. When you're done with 'em, send 'em down to me!! Finally got my house all undecorated and put away. OH! And while we were doing that Hero snuck out of the garage and RAN AWAY!! Our neighbor kept an eye on the house while we each got in our cars to go look for him! We couldn't find him anywhere for about 20 minutes! Finally our neighbor called and said Hero had come back to the house. We figure he ran into a backyard of a house not far from us that had the gate open....it's next door to the house where he has 3 kitty friends. Talk about PANIC!! But all is well that ends well.
  3. Hey Gina!! I survived Day One with Ham & Cheese soup and Protein Pudding and lots of fluid! I'm hungry right now, craving chocolate, but I'll survive! It's not bad at all. Looking forward to Day Two. Good luck everyone!
  4. Ya'll wanna go to a chat room??? There's one called "singles chat" that appears to be empty. I'll go in and see if any of you show up.
  5. I used light Velveeta and light sour cream -- it was still delish. Plus I added 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, plus a drained can of Rotel tomatoes which I pureed then added at the very end.
  6. Your LOLCat for the day!!.....
  7. JENN - Welcome home!!! So glad that is over and done with!! You'll feel like new in just a couple of days! I'm eating my ham & cheese soup for dinner -- decided it needed a little kick to it and added some minced ROTEL tomatoes (drained first) and OMG -- this is sooooooooo good!!!!! Bobster would like it this way! I've been a model 5-dayer today! :-) No sugar!!! NONE! Tracy - WAY TO GO GIRLIE!!! 6#!! That's wild!!
  8. Hey Judy - I made the ham and cheese soup, too! Just finished one cup....about to go get another! Yummmmm! I put a bunch of cayenne pepper in mine...did you doctor the recipe at all? First time I ever cooked with tofu...you can't even taste it! TracyinKs - I wasn't able to open the video either  How're you feeling? Heather - We need a pic of your Baby Bump, too! ********* Ok, here's where I've gotten off track: 1) eating slider foods rather than solid 2) eating too much food in one sitting...no matter how long it takes to get it down. I think that's a throw back to when I was too tight and to get any nutrition at all took me about 45 mins. per sitting. I think I am craving that pre-band 'full feeling' and if I work hard enough, I can get it! Grrrrr. 3) I take baby sips with about 50% of my meals and probably don't wait a full 30 minutes before drinking after meals (30 mins is what my doctor ordered) 4) Allowing myself to have sweets...chocolate is my major downfall. I am a bona fide chocaholic. I vow to improve in each of these areas!! Did you hear that!? I VOW!! (ROAR!!!) Pamela - are you drinking sugary sodas or sugar-free?? Re: meals, if I have a drink in front of me, I *will* succumb and take baby sips. I try just to not have any kind of drink around me period. Well, I cleaned out our storage closet and can actually walk in there now!! Got 2 big bags of garbage out of it, and 3 boxes of garage sale junk. Progress!! Now I'm (finally) off to take a shower! XOXO!! PS - Pamela - you do pretty much suck -- except for that gym thing and that dissertation thing. LOL!! Just kidding, sweetie!!
  9. Just FYI, tooth sensitivity and pain can be sign of an allergy. That's how I discovered I was allergic to penicillin! If you are taking any kind of new medication, definitely notify your doctor if you have pain. It can also be associated with joint pain.
  10. TracyinKS - I feel your pain!!! Well, actually I'm glad I'm NOT feeling your pain! I hate hangovers! It takes me 2 days to recover in my old age. Sooooooo not worth it. What did ya'll do....whose party? I went back to bed and now getting up for the day a second time! Don't exactly know where to start....coffee (again)?, shower?, cook soup?, or with the 1st priority....my Violets? Ah yes, the answer is simple! VIOLETS! ***Oh, by the way....if anyone is interested I'm selling my bodybugg v2 for $120 obo. I never use the damn thing. TRACYK -- FIVE POUNDS!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  11. Hey SueSue!!! So glad you joined us!! I just think it's so crazy how similar we are....even started at similar weights! I also gained 4# over the holidays! Please come back for your daily dose of Violets! You'll love it here! We're even planning a trip to Alabama in June...one of our Violets, Laura (aka FairyFacade), is having a baby in April so we planned a long weekend at a great lakehouse near her area so we can all get a chance to spoil him rotten! We also met in Texas last May....and we had an absolute BLAST. Stick around! You'll be glad you did!
  12. No, but I will if nobody here wants it.... just thought I'd give ya'll first dibs.
  13. I have a slightly used Bodybugg v2 for sale if anyone is interested. $120
  14. Well, i woke up at 3:00am! I think it might be because I took a nap yesterday, which I rarely do. So I made coffee and there's no going back to bed now! Kat - Why don't you just wait 'til monday to start your pouch test!? No big deal if you can't start same time as us. You're unfilled because of the steroids or what? I forget. When can you get a fill?
  15. Well, i start tomorrow!!! Went to the store to pick up my goodies and made some SF Hi-protein chocolate pudding. Mmmmm! Delish! Wish me luck! This scale has GOT TO MOVE!!!!!!!!
  16. You can also try increasing your fiber intake with lentils, legumes, and fresh veggies. That really seems to help me with hunger....as long as they're accompanied by good amounts of protein.
  17. Hiya Girliez, Pamela, exactly how many movies have you seen in the last 2 weeks??? LOL I haven't even heard of Grand Torino? I wonder if it's playing here? We went to go see Valkyrie yesterday...i thought it was pretty good from a historical standpoint and suspenseful....but don't think it will win any awards or anything. Cruise seemed kind of 'flat'...but his character was kind of 'flat' too. God, that man is handsome. Tracy - I just got back from the store and will be cooking tomorrow! Soups for my 5 day pouch test diet. I have tried to like black-eyed peas, I really have, but I can't stand 'em!!! Brady Bunch??? REALLY?????? :cursing: DH is playing golf tomorrow and the house is a wreck. I plan on throwing a LOT of things away while he is gone....tee hee. He's a pack rat DELUXE and I have to sneak crap out of the house! I'm packing up stuff for our community garage sale in April while I'm at it, too. Oh, yummy!! I made some high protein SF chocolate pudding to eat for snacks tomorrow and having a bit now....it's delish! 10g protein for 1/2 cup! You just make SF Jello pudding (large box) according to pkg directions then add 2 scoops (40g protein) of unflavored whey protein. Hope everyone had a great NY Day!!
  18. YEP! I could have written this myself. Well, maybe just try to maintain for awhile, pay attention to the negative self talk and try to be more positive about your ability to get control. Be patient with yourself and just keep visiting LBT.
  19. For those doing the 5-day Pouch Test, I found a couple of recipes for full liquid soups that sound awesome! Just thought I'd share one of them: Black Bean and Chorizo Bisque This is not a typical black bean soup, as it is not chunky in the least. It's completely smooth, which makes it more of a bisque. It uses chorizo, a Mexican sausage, but it's the uncooked, loose ground variety, not the hard salami-type sausage. As for chicken stock, the best kind out there is Imagine Free Range Organic, available at Whole Foods or other specialty markets. Good stock leads to good soup, and this stuff is truly delicious, even on its own! ingredients: 1 lb. package Mexican chorizo sausage 1 medium white onion, peeled & diced 1 tbsp ground cumin 3 cloves garlic, peeled & minced 1 quart chicken stock 2 bay leaves 3 28 oz cans black beans, rinsed & drained 1 lime, squeezed of juice handful of cilantro, chopped extremely fine equipment: two large stock pots or Dutch ovens blender NOTE: do not use a “boat-motor” style immersion blender for this recipe; it does not blend smooth enough to remove the finest pieces or lumps. 1. Brown the chorizo sausage in a deep Dutch oven over medium-high heat until cooked. Remove from the pot with a slotted spoon, and set to drain on a thick bed of paper towels. 2. Return the pot to medium heat with the sausage drippings still in it, and sauté the onion until softened, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and ground cumin and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add chicken stock, bay leaves, and drained beans, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes. 3. Add the browned sausage back to the pot, stir to combine, and simmer another 10-15 minutes to meld flavors. 4. Remove the pot from the heat, and remove bay leaves. Transfer soup to the blender using a ladle until the blender is no more than half-full. Put the top on, but allow for some venting (hot soup + blender = explosion, if not vented). Starting on low, puree for about 10 seconds, then move up to medium speed for 10 seconds, then high for 30. Once completely smooth, pour into another empty pot, and continue with the rest of the soup in batches. 5. Stir in cilantro and lime juice, serve with a dollop of sour cream.

  21. SueSue - I'm starting this pouch test diet tomorrow, too. I'm in a mental place similar to you. I've been choosing slider foods to help it go down rather than solid, healthy foods. What this translates to is things covered in cheese or other fats rather than going back to the bandster rules of small bites of solid Protein and chew, chew, chew. this pouch test is only 5 days and it might help me to lose a few pounds which would do my head an enormous amount of good. Maybe you should just follow http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/starting-holiday-detox-early-anyone-wanna-join-me-84070/'>this thread for awhile and see if it inspires you at all....that's what I did. Oh, and by the way...I haven't lost any significant amount of weight since 8 months post-op. Good luck to you and know you've got lots of support here.
  22. I'm reading [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Financial-Peace-Revisited-Dave-Ramsey/dp/0670032085]Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey[/ame]. Any Dave Ramsey fans out there? What a Godsend!
  23. GO LESLIE!!! Good luck!! Stay strong and keep your eye on the prize! What's on your menu? I start tomorrow with some of the other Violets.
  24. KAT - I'm sorry you're feeling so blue  No matter what, you're so much better, thinner and healthier than you were a few years ago...and these hives & steroids will be history soon enough. You'll perk up when that baby gets here, for sure!
