  2. I am a fast eater too. I do not have a surgery date yet. I guess we should start practicing eating slower. I haven't started yet, I guess I should get right on that.
  3. I am having my surgery in Early December and am a little concerned because I am a very fast eater. Even when I concentrate on eating slowly, I don't seem to slow down very much. Was anyone out there a fast eater before surgery and how did you deal with the change after the sleeve?
  4. My doctor told me it was protical for my tray to have a straw on it when I am in the hospital. But he said do not use it. I only drink with a straw now. It is good to hear so many of you use a straw after surgery. I hope I can after I have my surgery.
  5. I too am a optimist and only look for good things to happen after I am sleeved. But I do want to read about everyone's experience whether it is good or bad. I want to hear what to expect and what not to expect after my surgery. I would appreciate it if someone would let me know if a certain doctor or clinic was having a high number of problems(so I would not go there). Thanks for sharing.
  6. My pre op instructions said no straws too. The last support group I went to was hosted by three ladies that all have had one of the procedures(lap Band, Sleeve and or Gastric Y) done and they all drink out of straws and have had no trouble. The doctor said it would put air in your stomach therefore you have less room to put the nutrients in there you really need.
  7. I found out when I was going through the process of seeing if I wanted to have it done in a Civilian hospital or the military hospital. Tricare(Standard) will not pay for the Sleeve in a Civilian hospital because they consider it experimental. But they will pay for it when I go to a Army Hospital.
  8. Thank you so much for these questions. I will copy and paste them in a document and take them with me when I go. Thanks again, Theresa
  9. I saw a post a month or so back with a list of questions to ask your doctor before surgery. I can not find it now. I will need it for 8/30. Can anyone help me find this list. Thanks in advance.
  10. Congrats on your new doctor and new facility. I know you will do great!
  11. Never mind. I see it showed up on my page this time. LOL:huh0:
  12. How do I put a weight ticker on my page? Where do I copy and paste it? Thanks
  13. Are these drinks considered clear? Can you drink these 1 week after surgery?

Good to hear you are doing well. I have not been sleeved yet but it is in the near future. You don't want to drink fluids because you feel full?
  15. I am probably 2 months away from getting sleeved so I am keeping a watch on this site for insights and what to expect before and after being sleeved.
  16. I went to a civilian doctor first because I have civilian insurance too. They only cover GAstric Bypass and I did not want that. So I went to the army hospital and they are going to do it with my Tri-Care Standard. They will file with my civilian doctor but it is not going to cover it.
  17. Oh I am going to an ARmy hospital. I did not know you was going to a civilian hospital. Sorry
  18. I have Tri-Care Standard and they are going to do my Sleeve surgery at Eisenhower Hospital at Ft Gordon Ga.
  19. I asked my surgeon Tuesday how many had he had die from the surgery. He said none. Thank God
  20. Where does the doctor use a candle at during surgery?
  21. Okay I will print these questions out and take them with me to my doctor. Thanks,
  22. Where are the answers to these questions?
