  1. I found a tongue scraper at walmart. It looks like a loop with a handle. They are usually located with the toothbrushes and floss...
  2. Call me stupid, but what is the MOM or the Metamucil for? Just fiber supplement??
  3. Christie We actually just refinanced our home about 8 months ago, so I dont know if that is a viable option, but it does stir some thoughts in my head....lol Thanks for the advice! Karen p.s. I am hoping to have my surgery late June.....keep me posted on yours
  4. I have an appointment on May 17th with Dr. Borland in New Iberia, La. Now, I am working on getting the money together that I need for the surgery. I dont have a co-signer (other than my husband, and the one place I have gone thru wont let me use him) so I am going a couple of different routes.... I am not letting that slow me down though! I am excited about my consult with the doc....
  5. How did it go?? Anybody heard?

  12. Congrats on the quick date! I have been considering using Dr. Aceves too. I was looking into another doc in Mex but due to the unlimited amount of success stories at the hands of Dr. Aceves, he would be my first choice. However, I dont think my family will be too keen on going to Mexico. Although I dont have any fears myself about going.
  13. Congrats on the smoking thing! I know that is HUGE for you. I agree with everyone else about the pre-op diet....tackle one battle at time. A few things that fit will really help you to feel better, even if it is something that you will not get much wear out of. Now that I am typing this, I am remembering that either on this forum or on obesityhelp.com there is a classified type section where you can trade or purchase clothes from other members like us. That may be a good place to start....Good luck to you! All of this is short lived and you will be even more confident and beautiful than you already are! Karen
  14. where are yall getting the greek yogurt from? I have never heard of that.... BTW, good luck on your surgery! Keep us posted on your progress...

  19. Can anyone tell me about the process of financing for VSG? Do you have to put money down? Is your loan high interest? What about length of time financed? I am looking to have my surgery at the cost of less than 10K and was wondering about how much the payments would be on average?? I havent contacted anyone about getting approval yet and was just curious about some things before I have my credit pulled for approval.... Thanks in advance!
  20. I have told a handful of people that I was considering WLS with all varieties of responses. I have found that most people will say "I will support you in whatever choice you make, just do your homework first and make sure you know what you are doing." And everyone probably knows someone who has had WLS and is suffering with complications. So therefore, they are gonna say something negative like "oh you dont want to do that" or " are you CRAZY??" gotta love that one... So, for the most part, I am not gonna tell alot people about it until after it is done. And then I will tell some people, but I am not gonna walk around with a sign attached to me that says "Look at me! I had WLS" LOL And I certainly will not tell many people at all if I decide to go to Mexico. I have enough worries about that decision without other people telling me crazy stories about drug cartel killings, or how dangerous it is. UGH! I think I will just stick with the opinions of people who have had WLS and the docs they used and make an educated plan for ME, based on what is best for ME. Good luck to you..Dont let people rain on your parade!
  21. I am 100% convinced of the sleeve too. I met a lady who had had the LB 10 days prior to me meeting her and she looked great and raved about it. I Q&A'd her and when she showed me where her port was and let me see it, all I could think was "gross"! I didnt want the port! So that did it for me... My Dad and one of my sisters have both had the RNY and have had success with it. My sister doesnt look really that healthy, but the more research I am doing and the more questions I ask her and others, I am discovering that she is not taking her vitamins or supplements that she should be taking. She also doesnt do any protein supplements that I know of. She is experiencing what I believe is "dumping" too. Yuck! I dont want to have to suffer with that just to be thin. So the RNY is not something that I really considered either. So, having said that, I started researching the VSG and I am sooo ready! My insurance will not cover it, so I am gonna be cash-pay. I havent discussed any of this with my husband either, because I knew that given the history with my sister, he would NOT be supportive. So I have read, and read, and read....and I have answers to most of the questions I think he will have, or reasons he will come up with. Good luck to you! This site is an unlimited supply of information!
  22. You will do fine. You are a strong willed person by the sound of it....Congrats and good luck!
  23. Good luck mswendy....my thoughts and prayers will be with you!
  24. This is great information for everyone. I am still in the research stage, and it is great to see what everyone goes thru, good and bad, so that we have an idea of what to expect when we do it ourselves.
