    Totally Discouraged :(

Everyone here is absolutely right on the money! I have been banded for three years now. I have experienced the same as you with no questions about it. If you have lost 60lbs in that time frame that is some kind of awesome!! Go see your surgeon and let them know what's going on. I have had to learn the hard way over these years if your not in the green zone and your not actively exercising you will not lose weight. You will either maintain or gain depending on the types of food you eat. It has taken me 6 adjustments to get it right and ofcouse that's over 3 years. This is something that cannot be accomplished over night. And your friends and family should support you in your efforts whether its slow, fast, or at a standstill. Its all up to you! Good luck with your decision and again WAY TO GO with 60lbs down!!

    Jealous Co-workers

I have had my band for 3 years now. I have lost 87lbs. I have roughly 70lb pounds more to lose so that is still a ways, yet. But my problem is that my so called friends "only a hand full" are jealous of my weight loss. I work in nursing so I deal with "some know it alls" and they are So jealous that they themselves have decided to have wls, which is a great thing for them but I don't really think that they want to. One of them in particular will be having a sleeve in the upcoming months. Ofcourse I have been having trouble with my port being painful so my surgeon and I have been discussing the sleeve option. I mistakenly shared that info with this person and they acted as if the sleeve was better than the band in the first place. They had even made comments in front of other co-workers that the band doesn't help with hunger management only the sleeve. I was furious. I thought to myself she knows nothing about the band and she knows nothing of the sleeve because she has neither! She deliberately talks about how I workout to which if she worked out she could lose weight like me without having anything done. Now she is having trouble in this area and she has called me in the past for advice but I told her to pretty much F off! She is getting closer to her surgery date and she has openly said that she isn't sure if she really wants to go through with it. She still gives me a hard time at work since I have cut any kind of information ties of my personal business. I know Im not in this boat alone so how do you deal?

    long time since last fill

Usually after a fill my usual surgeon recommends 3 days clear liquids. Seven days full liquid. Then as tolerated per nutritional guidelines. Shocks my metabolism! Works out great! With exercise during that time the weight just melted off. I had to start seeing a new surgeon and he said that was just my surgeons recommendations. His is 24 hour liquids. Then as tolerated. It really depends on the surgeon. Sometimes you have to just learn yourself what you can do by trial and error. Its a hard way, but I had to do the same

    Needing some HELP!!

I have the same issue and I have had so many fills and recently proclaiming to start over. I am in the green zone but I have to eat with a smaller spoon and read while I eat. It takes my mind off of the eating and ofcourse it takes me a little longer to finish even after everyone else at the table is done. Which aggravates me a lot even after 3 years of dealing. I take small sips usually using a water bottle. You have to find your nitch. What works best for you. Cut your meat up before you sit down. And I always drink after the meal. If I drink before the meal Im full before I sit down. If I were you I would use the old fashion long handled teaspoon. Its smaller than the average teaspoon now.
  5. Hope you dont mind me joining in the forum, after I read your post I know exactly how you feel. Starting over is my goal. 3 years ago yesterday I weighed 318. Today I weigh 237. Had to change surgeons recently, not happy about that, but it maybe what I need for the push to start over. He says I should weigh 150. Im 5'2 and my bone structure is large. I am afraid I will look sick if I get down to that. I am scared of being too thin.

    16 Months out

I was banded on July 28th so yesterday was my 3 anniversary. I go tomorrow to see the surgeon. I weighed 247 Six weeks ago and I have lost 10 pounds since then. I am nervous about going. The surgeon is new to me. He is not my reg. Surgeon. He flat out told me to stop playing and get serious. I weighed 318 when I started this adventure and I have had a lot of life changes since then that has effected me. My question is what should I weigh since its been three years. Im 5'2 and 35 years old. I have had 3 children and my body has changed. He says I should weigh 150. I am afraid I will look sick
  8. I started at 318 and now I am 238 as of today. It's been a struggle as you already know. not many people understand what we go through. I have read all if your posts and I know exactly where you have been and where you are going! I want to be at 199 or less in 6 months so hopefully if I strive hard for it I will fulfill my goal!

The lapband does work and im proof!!!

I have had my band for almost 3 years. I started at 318 wnd now I am 238. I too have had to realize the commitment of changing eating habits to almost all vegan! I feel great! When I eat something that is loaded with sugar, carbs, calories, fat, or salt I feel awful! The food we eat really makes a difference in how we feel. Dr. Joe Fuhrman nutritional researcher and physician points out the toxic lifestyle we subject ourselves to. I am reading his book " Eat to Live" I am using it as a guide to break my habits of unhealthy eating. Exercise has become an everyday necessity. It is not an option. I have figured that out the hard way! For those of you that are limited with mobility for exercising try swimming! I started out doing that. I quit for a while but I have recently started back. I am excited to see what the future hold for me... And I wish you all the same journey! It's been hard, but I want to have good health and this is what must happen to get there! Discipline is a hard thing to learn when you have been out of control, especially when it comes to food and bad habits!! 1200 calories and maybe just a tad under is an awesome rule of thumb!

    Port question?

My port hurts too but it doesn't move around. The more weight I lose the more it hurts when I wear any clothes that is a little tight at the waist line. I have a fill in surgeon for my regular surgeon for a while. My surgeon was deployed to Afghanastan and who knows when he will back. I told the full in surgeon and he shrugged it off so am I just a whinny baby or should I be concerned for the discomfort?
  13. Banded since July 28,2010. I weighed 318. Now 238. Anniversary is coming up and I would like to be at 200, which is my weight goal. Issues with staying on track with excersise routine. Any suggestions?
  14. 1-2 Kroger Salmon Fillets seasoned with McCormick Salmon citrus rub on both sides... cook on top of stove in a tsp. of real butter or bake in the oven until flaky. Serve with salad, lowfat vinegar dressing. Servings are several meals. Delicious!!!
