How Did You Choose The Lap-band Vs Other Procedures?
Gastric bypass was out of the question for me. It has major mal-absorpion issues which I would worry about when I get in my 70's or 80's. I wont have to worry about that with the lapband.

2 Days After Lap Band Surgery And I Cant Get Much Down
I was banded on 12/07 and had the same problem. its probably the gas, I ate gas X every 4 hours to help. And if you drink hot liquids instead of cold, it goes down alot easier and feels much better on your tummy. :-) good luck! Try to sugar free hot apple cidar packs. They are wonderful and helped get me thru, you can find them next to the hot cocoa mixes.

Brand New Me Starts This Week! Had Lap Band Surgery Monday
Hi Nicole! I was banded on Dec 7th ( my new birthday). Although I was VERY lucky, I had hardly ANY pain, just alot of soreness in my stomach area. I have seen many posts about the pain in the chest and nausea. I know I was very blessed and lucky to be spared. Our whole way of thinking when it comes to eating and drinking has changed. My nurse told me " you have to take small sips or swallows and breathe in between each one to let it go down. and when you eat, take very small bites, like 1/2 tsp full and wait for it to go down so it doesnt back up in your throat." I have been following her instructions. I can only eat about 1/4 of mushies and I feel full. Im losing about a pound a day a total of 13 pounds since surgery. I feel better, I am extremely happy and everyone around me can tell. We have made a great decision getting the lap band, one that will be greatly rewarding in the future. Good luck in your weightloss adventure and keep us posted on how you are doing! Welcome to the other side!!

How Much Do We Start Walking After lap band Surgery And When?
I have been really tender lately on the biggest incision I assume where my port went in. I am ready to go to the gym, but a little on the skeptical side since the soreness affects my left side of my stomach. Pretty much from top to bottom. Should I wait longer? I had my surgery on Dec 7.

When do the Lap band Surgical Strips come off?
My dr said to leave the strip on and let them fall off naturally. That way we know that everything is healed. I have alot of itching also and I am on Day 6. Only 2 have fallen off so far.

Post Lap Band Surgery Op Pain
Hi Lou, I was banded on 12/7 also. I have lost 14 pounds since my preop diet. I guess I was pretty lucky with the pain, my worst pain was in my legs from pushing myself up in the hospital bed.Did your doctor give you any pain medication? Mine gave me some liquid loritab, but I use is sparingly. like a TEASPOON in the morning and maybe one in the afternoon if my tummy starts hurting. Yesterday I decided to clean my house and cleant the bathrooms and my tummy is pretty sore today from it. I have been doing the broth, jello (at room temp), and hot apple cider to get me through. Yesterday I had my protein tomato soup for lunch which was a nice change. Some friends came by yesterday and really boosted my ego when they said that I looked great and they could already tell that I had lost some weight. Just think of all the great things we will be able to do when we are thinner!!! chin up and start saying goodbye to all those plus sized clothes! Hope this helps!

Website For Muscle Milk Lite?
Thank you so much! I had ordered 3 of them and I was looking to see if they have little packets of isolate protein to add to foods like apple sauce. The apple sauce you buy in the store doesnt have any protein in it. I saw cake batter but was scared to order it, I will get it next time since you have done the taste test.

Day 3 Postop
I mashed up the noodles in to mush. Then I added water. I was VERY careful on how I ate. If I took a spoon of broth with a few chopped up noodles, then I followed it with just broth. Today is day 4 and I can have my protein tomato soup. Looking forward to that today

Lap Band Surgery On Dec 9....gas And No Appetite - Any Suggestions
I was banded on Dec 7th and feel the same way. the dr gave me a small 1/2 cup of water and said to make sure I sip on it and get 1 down per hour. so thats what I strive to do. yesterday I got a 20 oz bottle of water and made that my goal to drink by the end of the day. If you do that along with your broths and jellos ( which were really hard to get down) you should be okay. Also try to hot apple cider, it comes sugar free and is delcious and help alot with the gas. You can find the powder packs next to the hot chocolate mixes. Good Luck!

Day 3 Postop
finally some of the soreness has gone away!. I guess I pushed myself up in the hospital bed so much that the backs of my calves were screaming at me! All is well, and i was up and around today. Has hot cider for breakfast, chicken broth for lunch, around 5 I had hot cider and 1/2 cp of chicken noodle soup. I mashed up a few of the noodles and was very careful to make sure that it was small enough to go down. Down 6 pounds in 3 days... yey me! still having trouble getting cold water or jello down though.

It is delicious and it comes in sugar free also. I drink the regular its only 80 cal. and I have it for breakfast. Hope it helps!I was banded 3 days ago myself.

Pain and numbness in my right leg/hip during exercise.
check how tight you have your shoes laced. My husband has always said that your feet expand when you excercise and people who have their shoes tied too tight will experience numbness in their feet. I loosened mine up and it stopped.

Are You Having Problems Taking Your Meds Post Lap Band Surgery??
since we are on liquids only, dr told me not to take my bp meds or my fluid pills. I had already stopped my arthritis medicine. He told me to watch my bp and if it started going up but since I am on clear liquids only I should need it. My bp been fine and I have no swelling in my ankles so I havent taken any. Now I do have alot of trouble getting jello down, my tummy doesnt like anything cold. So I have only been able to drink hot broth and hot apple cider. Everytime I try jello my stomach cramps up real bad. I am going to call the dr on monday and see if that is normal. I will probably put a post out on the forum also to see if anyone else is having that problem.

2 Weeks Post Lap Band Surgery And It's Time To Eat!
You might want to think twice about your choice of food. If you have only been banded about 2 weeks, you are going to make yourself sick with a hamburger and dr pepper. Go ahead and eat it, you wont do it again. stick with the food plan and have some mashed potatoes and maybe some mushy vegetables with it. Good Luck!

Liquid Diet Is Making Me Crazy!
I did shakes for lunch and did applebees soup and salad for lunch then shake for supper. The lunch portions are really small. This worked really well for me. The day before my surgery I had all clear liquids and I was banded on wednesday. I have not been hungry since. I have 2 more days of clear liquids, the hardes thing I find to get down is the water, I do much better with heated chicken broth or hot apple cider. Try the cider its found next to the hot cocoa mix. It is excellent and it will get you through. Good Luck!

Banded Yesterday!!
im on clear liquids for 3 more days, chicken broth, beef broth, vitamin water. Try the hot apple cidar next to the hot cocoa mix. it is really yummy and helps with the pain. I have not been hungry at all since my surgery day before yesterday. mainly just stomach cramps from the gas. I am very glad we are in minimal pain, I have read some posts where it was excrutiaing (spelling?) Hope you have a great weekend, this is one time where we can say "its all downhill from here" and be happy about it.

Day 1 Post Op
Banded day before yesterday, and yesterday the nurse said it was still considered day 0 since I was still in the hospital. So today is day one. Ooooo doggie, my tummie hurts this morning from my incision and its just a rumblin and grimblin in there. Still, I got up and cooked my husband breakfast which consisted of scrambled eggs with ham and I am sipping on my hot apple cider. I know it has 80 calories in it, but it really goes down easy and help with my pain. I am going to try to walk a little at the gym today. Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Day 2 And Pain Is Crazy
I was banded on Wednesday. I have some pain but not alot. The hospital gave me two breathing treatments and wants me to do the breathing machine 5 times a day to help move the gas away from my lungs. I was given some liquid loritab for pain but only took it last night before bed. Get up and move around, walk, it makes it easier and I bet I ate 6 gas x tablets(chewable) yesterday alone. also do the windmill with your arms. I do big circles one side then the other and then together. My biggest problems is that I find it very hard to drink anything, I still have alot of gas in my stomach that when I swallow the gas pushes my jello back up into my esaphogus. Good luck!
