  1. I am also struggling... my knee is still bum... going back to the sports med person tomorrow... we will see what she says... I am back on Southbeach.. hoping to get away from some of my unhealthy eating habits . I do feel better already and have lost 3 pounds, but I was up almost 14 pounds from my lowest... OUCH. The cute pants are tight. I don't like. Not being able to exercise as much does not help.... I was on TV twice this weekend, helping out at an art auction for the local PBS station... they say it adds 10 pounds, but I have to say even with the 14 pounds, I looked a heck of a lot better than I would have without the sleeve! I have started cooking for myself in the morning before work, this really has helped me in the past keep the food healthy and filling. Thanks for listening girls!
  2. You ladies are all so motivating! Look at you go! Congrats Meg, you really stuck with it and it shows!
  3. Meg, good work kicking that sugar habit and getting back into the 170's! I just hate new numbers (going up that is)
  4. I hope you had a wonderful birthday! Sometimes the world conspires to set you up with lemon cake and sugar cookies! I'm glad you enjoyed flirting with cookies on your birthday, you are NOT married to them, it was just a fling... and I bet the scales will not be too shocking, you will get right back on track and be just fine. Love the oatmeal statement, very funny!
  5. Look up hair loss on the search, most lose hair during weight loss... it does slow down and stop at some point. I am at 20months and my hair is not back to normal yet... it is growing back though....
  6. Thanks so much for the thoughtful message Dorrie! You are right... This morning I started cooking up some food that will help me to keep the carbs down, I cut up a bunch of veggies and stocked the fridge to make choices easier. I went out yesterday and bought glucosamine, acitomenophin(sp?) and ice packs. I don't know what helped, but after laying on all three, my knee pain went WAY down. Fingers crossed, this method will help in the future too! I also made a list of all the things that I need to get done... and things I LOVE to do, and am going down the list and lightening my mental load. Thanks for being there... I have been in a bit of a tail spin the last few weeks....
  7. Look at all the cute Babes in LBDs! You all look wonderful!
  8. Right there with you ladies! Gained around 8-9 pounds in the last 4 months, eating and exercise habits disrupted for sure... it is a day to day struggle... I try to get on the scale every day, and write the intake down...(got out of the habit of doing that for a few weeks) It really helps to keep on top of the reality of whats going in the pie hole!!! (They don't call it that for nothing!)
  9. Went on vacation in May 2012... and my mom in law and sis in law came for a 3 month visit. This was all fun. The problem for me started there though. My eating and exercise "Rut" was keeping me on the straight and narrow, and the rut went out the window when the inlaws showed up. During this time I started having worse and worse pain in my knee, and found out it was bone on bone in one spot. This crashed my exercise (the dance classes, not the walking thank goodness!) I gained about 5 pounds. Then my best friend died, and my lil'dog went to the vet and we found she has some kind of liver probs... $670 later... I started to eat my emotions for sure. I am up about 8-9 pounds at this point... I am still in the same size, but it is a little tight. I want to eat junk like no ones business. On the up side, I am going to physical therapy and am back to dance class half time. I do hope this will pass with will and healing. The sleeve is a fantastic tool, and I am sooo a success... but honestly, that 8-9 pounds is a downer. Last night my husband told me as a compliment that my but is coming back. OUCH! Thanks hun. Mixed blessing.
  10. Welcome back! Sounds like you had a blast!
  11. I have been coming to this site for about two years, and every step of the way there is something/someone here that brings insight, comfort and understanding to my new life.
  12. Im not a fanatic, however I have come to deeply love getting into my body, and helping it to move with more freedom... I got bone spurs as of late in my knee, and it took months to get the Dr app, then the Sports medicine app, then the physical therapy apps...I missed many dance classes over that time and SOOO missed them. I am back in class now, and am getting physical therapy once a week for a while...and learning about the weakness in my structure that hopefully will be gone soon! Love learning about the body!
  13. Thanks guys, I had a blast! The guy I had a secret crush on during highschool even asked me to dance... hubby didn't mind a bit. Thanks Hubby!
  14. Im having the same thing happen. I know when I eat carbs, I want carbs, this is part of it. I have been half way off the track with my exercise, but went to a physical therapist two days ago, and am looking forward to improving my ability to do more activities. It is work, thats for sure, but still Its so much better than before surgery! Good luck with the struggle Dorrie!
  15. OK, i wore my LBD to my 41st high school class reunion. Two of my best friends from school were there looking GREAT! Thank goodness for the sleeve!
  16. Great NSV's guys! Congratulations to you all!
  17. First, Deep breath. Lissa has some good advice. The way out of the stall is time. Do what your doc asks, and you will come out of the other end. Stalls are natural. Do you really think that eating less than 600 cals a day will maintain your body for long? Measure. Its really cool to see the numbers on the tape go lower and lower. This will probably not be your last stall. My first stall started at 2 1/2 weeks and lasted for 5 weeks. (on the scale...not measurements)
  18. If your diet is low carb, you might be in ketosis which makes your tongue feel like it is wearing a sock! Also, if you are drinking lots of whey, I know it makes my mouth feel kind of dry. brush your tongue, try minty gum.... wash your mouth out after drinking whey drinks...
  19. A BIG congratulations girl! You look and sound so healthy. I am a month behind you... still not at goal, but happy with what I have and still thinking I might be able to lose a couple more. YOU LOOK GREAT!
  20. So cool Coops, I know how hard won that lost pound is!
  21. Sacramento here! I could meet in Davis, Sac, Folsom, The closer to Sac the better chance I will come.
  22. Hurray hurray hurray!!!!!!!
  23. I just don't bother with the squirt of this and the bite of that... I round stuff up, I list something close in calories, I do what I can if I don't have the exact info. I try to measure my standard foods...I eye ball things sometimes, but need to measure or the portion size will creep up. I'm a sneaky one! I do the best I can with logging the food. I don't even count low cal veggies. I do count fruit though, because of the carbs. On the days that I am eating out a lot, or grazing a bite of this and a sip of that are the hardest, I sometimes give up on those days... but mostly those days are vacation days and oh well. Hang in there, Don't panic! You still have your sleeve, and it will help like you never had help before... just keep trying to do what you can every day. Don't beat yourself up... I don't know about you, but that makes me want to eat MORE... And lose strength to continue the fight.
  24. When I was preping for surgery they assured me that they would keep the salespersons out of the room when I was naked! I was strapped to a board and was standing upright during the surgery. It is a teaching hospital, and Im sure the room was packed with students... they were demonstrating robotic surgery on me for part of the time. No dignity, but I did it for science! My understanding was i was pretty much naked!
