  1. My surgeon told me that I should only eat about a cup each sitting(and that's about all I can eat)... I was wondering how some of you are able to have full meals with the band?? Also I was wondering if anyone has had any troubles with the band while flying or is it just a myth. I am flying to Florida for the 4th of July and am a bit concerned with this. Please reply! Thanks everyone!
  2. I went from a 9-9 1/2 to a 8 1/2. So for me it did! Which sucks because I have a closet full of heels that flip flop now
  3. I got my second fill yesterday and I'm on liquids until MONDAY!!! I hate this part! But I do LOVE the weight loss afterwards!
  4. My first fill was May 6th. I was given 4.2 ccs. I thought it was my sweet spot until I lost weight. The more weight I lost the more I Iost that filling of being full so quick. I'll be scheduling my second fill soon.
  5. Today I am 198lbs!!! I have waited so long to be back into the 100's! I just don't know what to do with myself!!! I have never exercised this much in my whole life, but it's paying off!! No regrets!!! Live...Laugh.....Love....
  6. Well I was banded March 31st, I had my first fill May 6th I was filled with 4.2cc's I feel as though this is good spot! infact the next day after my fill I lost 5lbs!!! I was super shocked! It feel so good to see the scale go down. I do Zumba 4 times a week and then attend the gym 3 times a week to do some weight lifting! Getting the lap band is the best thing that has happened to me in years! I love being active I find myself not wanting to lay around watching T.V. as much seems like I'm always grabbing my tennis shoes and heading out the door and that feels AMAZING! I wish you all the best of luck! WE CAN DO IT!!!
  7. Well I have Kaiser and they required me to take a 12 week class and in that class we had to complete a daily food journal until the end of the class. I completed all of the testing and appoinments while still attending the class. When I completed the class they submitted it to the insurance. However I didn't get my surgery until a month and half after the class was completed.I was a little disappointed but eventually it all worked out. Wishing you the best!
  8. OMG!! I am rarely hungry!! is this how I know if I'm at my sweet spot or not?
  9. This site list a Dr. Earl Fox in Richland if you haven't saw it already, maybe you should check him out! hope this helps!
  10. I got my first fill an hour ago. Which is about 5 weeks after surgery. I was filled 4.2 ccs. How my doctor determined what was a good amount for me was he had me drink water while he fille the band. He inserted a little at first and then filled more when I couldn't feel anything. He then inserted 5ccs but the water got stuck in the chest area so he let it out to 4.2ccs I drunk water and there was slight pressure and then it quickly went away. I'm on liquids for the weekend. Then back to regular food a cup at a time.
  11. When you find out please post on here. I was banded March 31... and recently it doesn't matter how much rest I get I am always exhausted. I need help also!
  12. I'm a tad bit nervous... just because it's something I've never experienced before. I hate the stupid barium drink it always makes me gag. I hope this process is simple and fast. Thanks for letting me know I won't get restriction on the first go round, that's what I was actually hoping for. But now I know. Hopefully I will feel something though. Thanks for the feed back guys!
  13. Okay ya'll let me have it! Tell me all the details and leave nothing out!!! lol
  14. I've never really had port pain, I have had situations where I have bent down in the shower or something and became of my port. But it has never been painful. I'm thinking you may have bent down too far or maybe too fast.. take your time you are still healing. Good Luck!
  15. My mom and I were a day apart also. She went the day before me! Everything is going to be great! The healing process is the part but even that is nothing. You will enjoy the support from your mother as she will you. I've been banded for 4 weeks and we are both doing great! Good luck to you both!
  16. Thanks everyone for your post and suggestions! I'm going to check them out! I know water is the best thing but sometimes I get so sick of drinking water! lol
  17. OMG! Been there done that!!! I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and I don't miss those things at all. Surprisingly I do drink them occasionally when I forget my breakfast. But yeah I got so burnt out on those things quickly. I tried just about every kind and the only one I can drink now is muscle milk light (chocolate). Good luck!
  18. Is anyone else getting sick of water and crystal light?? Does anyone know of other beverages that taste great? Don't get me wrong water is great after a crucial workout... but I am so tired of consuming it ALL day long! lol
  19. Just wondering what's a good amount of cc to get on my first fill! I would like to be restricted but also afraid of being too tight. Any suggestions?
  20. The only thing I can suggest is load up on mushies that are high in protein. It makes you feel full longer i.e. refried beans or mashed potatoes. Hope this helps a lil
  21. After having to do the liquid diet for 3 weeks total (before and after sugery) I would never suggest that to anyone. It is truly a miserable way of losing weight. It's something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. If you are just trying to lose some weight before hand as the others said count calories and exercise... That will do wonders. The liquid diet is like starvation. Load up on protein it keeps you full longer and stops the snack cravings. I hope this helps.
  22. Thanks guys! I'm gonna try more weight training. I thought I had to loose some more of this fat before I could start weight training. BTW PhilC, I love your signature, it's so true! lol
  23. My sister had the lab band almost 2 years ago. One year out she went on a cruise and her doctor unfilled her for her trip. It was actually his idea. But she did gain 4lbs when she got back. But she says it was ok because she didn't have to worry about getting stuck or anything else happening. I hear what everyone else has to say but I think it's your decision. If you feel it's best for you go for it. But remember whatever you gain is more you have to lose. I personally would not like to be too restricted when going on vacation and not being able to reach your doctor as quickly as you could if you were home.
  24. I don't know if this helps but I was told by my doctor that once I get filled I can only take drugs in liquid form. I was told because the band will be tight pills will be super slow to break down.
  25. During the day on my breaks from work (20 mins) I walk at a fast pace the walk also includes inclines. When I get off work I got to the gym and work out for about 35 minutes. When I walk during the day I am usually out of breath and sweating. At the gym I am usually on the eliptical. Is this enough exercise? or should I do more? I follow this routine about 5x's a day.
