  1. I was banded on Wednesday and today moved on to creamy liquids. Yay!! However, I can't seem to get my mind off sausage pizza and chicken nuggets. I'm not even a big pizza eater, but for some reason I am craving it like crazy today. And it seems like every commercial on tv is for chicken nuggets. I dreamed about french fries last night. I'm constantly thinking about food and it really seems like I'm hungry but a few sips of water kinda takes that feeling away. Does anyone else have/or had crazy cravings like this right after being banded??
  2. I am terribly hungry. I really wish I wasn't because the clear liquids just aren't cutting it for me. Even the Isopure isn't satisfying the hunger. Tomorrow I will be able to have the protein shakes along with creamy soup, pudding, and applesauce. I am really looking forward to it!! I'm feeling pretty good today, but I only got about an hour of sleep last night. The gas pains are horrid. And I can't squeeze out a fart or burp to save my life!!
  3. I'm so happy to say I got banded today! I'm not feeling too much pain. Just a little discomfort. Everything went great but I wish I could have something more substantial than clear liquids. Hopefully it's not just the pain meds and I will continue to feel ok. Hahaha, how ironic I'm wanting a protein shake to help with the hunger when just yesterday I was hating them!

If not a taxi, could hiring a driver be a possibility? Start your new life in a limo?? LOL, that would be awesome. Any possibility of a neighbor helping out? Or a college kid? I wish you the best of luck! I just got my band today and feel great. I hope it's not just the pain meds...
  5. I used to work for Goodwill and around here they have a certain day of every week that is called "quarter day". Certain clothing items are just .25. It's something to look into during this period.
  6. I could only have 3 Protein shakes a day and then everything else clear. I could also have sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello, so that helped a little tiny bit. All the sugary tasting stuff was driving me crazy though, so thank goodness for low sodium beef broth because that satisfies without the sugar taste. TOMORROW IS MY DAY!!! Yahoo!!
  7. Oh you ARE lucky! All I can have is 3 protein shakes, sugar free jello/popsicles, and clear chicken or beef broth. And of course a bunch of water. I'd love to be able to add some meat, green veggies, and yogurt. Isn't it funny how different doctors have such different pre diets?
  8. I'm also on my 9th day of the all liquid pre-op diet and I am having a tough time with it. The first few days were easy but I am really sick and tired of protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, and sugar free jello. I was also drinking beef broth and it was actually helping with the salt cravings but since I started sipping it a couple of times a day my weight has creeped up a couple of pounds. This after losing 15 from taking in only liquids. Soooo, I'm frustrated because I still have 5 days to go and now I'm afraid to drink the one thing that actually made the diet tolerable....
  9. I had to give up all carbonated beverages and all caffeinated drinks. If I could only have a diet pepsi I'm sure I would be so much happier.
  10. I found some vanilla caramel swirl protein powder today at my local grocery store(HyVee). I got it home and tried it and YUM, YUM!!! I just mixed it with slim milk and it tasted so good! I'm on day 4 of my liquid diet and have lost 9 pounds. I"m happy with that. It's a good start.
  11. My dietitian recommended Ensure High Protein. They are new and in a bigger bottle than the regular Ensure and only come in chocolate and homemade vanilla. I've tried the chocolate and like it a lot. It is a bit sweet, but actually quite yummy. They have 25 grams of protein and not too many calories.
  12. I had all my pre-op testing and started my liquid diet Wednesday the 24th. The liquid diet isn't going as bad as I thought it would. I am very grateful that I can have sugar free popsicles because they are sooo good and are helping get me through this! I do really miss my daily diet pepsi though. I didn't think it was going to be this hard to give that up. I too, am concerned about saggy skin when all is done and over...
  13. I wish mine only took an hour. It took me THREE hours! Before I went in for it they told me the average was 3 - 5 hours. The same questions were asked over and over again just in different variations. THEN, when I went back for the results it took another hour to tell me I've got an unhealthy relationship with food. LOL, ya think?? Why else would I weigh 260 pounds? 'Cause I have a very loving relationship with french fries!
  14. @stateofzen, you look AWESOME! Congrats on your fantastic success. My new goal is to post pics next September showing a successful weight loss like yours. Way to go!
  15. I get banded Sept.7. I'm hoping it goes well. The process to this point has been easier than I anticipated. However, I start my all liquid diet Wednesday, not sure how well I will cope on that.
  16. I really hope you find someone you are comfortable with and who has a more professional system. There are only a few programs in my area so I got lucky. Best of luck to you!!
  17. Wow! Sounds quite unprofessional to me. I had to pay $25 at the seminar I went to, but that was only if I decided I wanted to get in to the program. I have seen the dietitian twice and will see her once more before my surgery. I have NEVER had to pay anything to her. And this was before I even knew that the insurance was going to cover everything. I would be looking for a different surgeon if this happened to me. How dare they treat you that way!! Getting banded is a very important decision in a person's life and you need to be totally comfy with all aspects of the program. I don't want to say you got "ripped off" but I do think their business practices are a little questionable.
  18. I was told I had to be not smoking for 6 months or they wouldn't do the surgery. At the beginning it was mentioned that a nicotine test would be given to determine that I was not a smoker but that has not happened. So, I have not smoked in 6 months and my surgery is scheduled for September 7. No more has been said about the nicotine test so I don't know if that was a bluff or what. I know that quitting is the best thing to do, especially since I am starting a new healthy lifestyle. But, I must say, I miss it terribly. It was hard to quit after having smoked for 30 years but I did it and know that it is what is best. You are so right though, it's really a tough habit to break. And I am hoping and praying that I have the willpower to not pick it up again after I get banded.
  19. You definitely need to check with your surgeons office on what the exact requirements are. I have UnitedHealthCare and didn't have to lose any weight prior. I did have to do 6 months of weight management plus dietitian and pysch eval. Every insurance has different requirements. Another idea would be to call your insurance customer service and see if they can tell you all the requirements or even your human resources insurance/benefits coordinator. Good Luck!
  20. I have united health care. I'm just so amazed at how quickly I was approved.
  21. I guess I thought I wouldn't need much because it's laparoscopic outpatient surgery. I was just planning on wearing comfy waisted clothes (a dress is a great idea), slip on shoes (or flip flops), and taking a cushy pillow for the ride home. Now I'm wondering if I'm going to be unprepared. If for some reason I need to stay longer, I figure my hubby can always bring any needed items. I will have things ready at home though. I've already got my baby spoon and measuring stuff.
  22. I just found out today that I was approved (didn't even know they were turning it in yet)! I will be banded on Sept 7. Start my liquid pre-op diet August 24. I'm so excited!!
  23. I just found out this morning that my surgery date is September 7!! I didn't even know they were turning it in to insurance as I still have one more weight management visit with my primary care doc. They called me from the surgeons office this morning and said that they turned it in yesterday and got the approval this morning and when would I like to have the surgery! Wow!! I am just in shock that it went so easy for me. I'm actually glad I didn't know it was being turned in to insurance as I would have been a nervous wreck wondering about approval. I start my all liquid diet on Aug. 24th. Woot Woot!
