Holiday Goodies At Work
I work in an office that receives many gifts of food during the holiday season. I am finding it very hard not to try a "taste" of these goodies. It's mostly cookies and sweet stuff that seems to go down real easy for me. So, I try it and then feel guilty for having done so. I'm so mad at myself because I know I'm doing the wrong thing. Is anyone else having this type of problem? I've only been banded 3 months and did great at Thanksgiving with a nice loss that week. But now, I'm really struggling...

I hope your hubby gets his transplant and is soon on the road to recovery. I can't imagine what you are going through. You are an amazing woman! Stay strong!!

Awww, Pugs, sorry about your loss. May the memories comfort you during this sad time. It's so hard to have to make that decision. I've been there and feel your pain. On the plus side, good for you for not turning to food to comfort you!

Holy Cow I had a crappy week! Fought pneumonia and a sinus infection all week long. Of course that meant I didn't feel like exercising or eating right. I did have soup, but it was chicken noodle, so high sodium and high carbs. AND, ice cream! OMG, what the heck is wrong with me?!? LOL, I know it was wrong, but it really made me feel better. I'm scared to get on the scale. Tomorrow's a new day though, and I've already packed my healthy lunch, so back on track for me. Hope everyone has a great week!

I haven't found any food yet that I can't eat. I have had "stuck" episodes, but those were from eating too fast or not chewing enough. I've been real careful since my second fill though and haven't had a problem again, yet. I haven't been feeling well since Friday so haven't been eating much. And that's ok, but I also haven't been getting my fluids in either and that's not ok. I'm on antibiotics now (for pneumonia), so I'm hoping to be on the mend soon and get back with the program.

Gnc Protein Powders
It's not the powder protein, but I love the Isopure zero carb bottled drinks. My favorite is blue raspberry. The grape is good also. I'm hoping for GNC gift cards for birthday and Christmas gifts this year so I can stock up!

Failed My Sleep Study!!!!
I took a couple/few antihistamines before I went. That way I was able to fall asleep quicker. Even then I still was only able to get about 4 hours recorded sleep time. Sometimes if the problems show up soon after you fall asleep they will fit you for a mask the same night and you don't have to go back. That happened with my hubby. Good luck to you!

Exactly! I am terrible at doing new things by myself. It's really really hard for me, even when I take a xanax for two. LOL! I really wish I could get over that fear.

Sept 2011 bandsters
Hello fellow September bandsters. I haven't posted much but follow this thread religiously. I love the support and encouragement. I, too, am struggling with the exercise portion of my new lifestyle. Since it started getting colder I haven't been on my bike at all. I need to get walking but for some reason can't get the motivation. Argh.... I have had one fill and have my second one on the day before Thanksgiving. Yikes, what was I thinking when I ok'd that appt? Oh well, I guess it's not too big of a deal since it will just be my hubby and me this year. I'll make him a turkey and I'll have mashed taters if I can tolerate them. I was wondering if any of you use a fitbit. I've seen lots of good reviews for them and was thinking of asking Santa for one for Christmas...

So discouraged
I agree. I think you may be getting too many carbs. Try tracking your food intake for a week or so. Myfitnesspal is a great way to track. It will help you see your daily numbers as far as carbs, prottein, fiber, etc...

- Finally an answer!!!!!!!!!
Yay!! You have an answer! And while having a kidney issue isn't fun, it must feel great to finally know the reason for no weight loss. Hopefully the scale will continue to move downward for you!- Sept 2011 bandsters
ugh, double post- Sept 2011 bandsters
Six months??? Wow, that is long time!! My problem is I don't really care much for cooked mushy veggies. I way prefer them raw. Going six months without would be really hard.- Sept 2011 bandsters
Has anyone else been told not to eat lettuce/raw veggies for a couple of months? I was banded 9/7 and my nutritionist told me not to have any salad, carrots, celery, etc. until the beginning of November. I can have cooked veggies just not raw. I've been really craving a salad and can't wait until next week when I can have one.- CPAP, Sleep Apnea, and Frustration Oh My!
It took me a month or so but I really noticed the difference once I got the hang of it. I still kinda cuss at it nightly because I really want a mask that covers my mouth and nose and they can't seem to fit me in one. So, I have to use one that goes just over my nose and wear a chin strap. Ugh. The combo of the two is a pain, but it is really worth it for me. For the first time in many years I am able to sleep through the night. I guess I can say I got lucky because my hubby got his machine at about the same time as I did so we started it together. That helped a little with the emotional side of it. I think that once you get used to the thing and start getting a really good nights sleep you probably won't be under so much stress nightly when it's time to put it on. I wish you much luck!- Diet Soda Addict
Teehee I wish you luck with quitting cold turkey. I really thought I had it under control until that sip today. Shame on me!! haha- Diet Soda Addict
Sorry if I posted the same thing twice....I can't figure out how to delete.- Diet Soda Addict
I've been so good not drinking soda. Like the rest of you, I was a total addict. My favorite was Pepsi Max! I loved the extra caffeine! I've gone without it since mid August and didn't have a problem until today. My DH and I went to Arby's for lunch. They had a pic in their window of a sandwich, fries and a glistening, bubbly diet pop. Oh my, it was calling my name.....but I didn't order one. My husband did. And I took a sip....That soda tasted even better than it looked in the poster. It was cold and bubbly and the syrup to carbonation ratio was perfect. Will someone please tell me again why we aren't supposed to have carbonation? I can't stop thinking about that sip of soda and how fabulous it tasted... I need to hear again what it is going to do to me and how horribly evil it is. Thanks fellow bandsters!!- Sept 2011 bandsters
Sorry you are feeling so bad. I was able to feel my port at 11 days post op and it kinda stuck out, but I was not in any pain at all by then. Everyone has a different pain threshold but I think that maybe by now you shouldn't be having that much. It might be time to call the Dr and find out if they think it's normal. I sure hope the pain goes away for you soon!- Transition from Liquids too easy!!
Every surgeon really is different. Mine specifically told me that I should be losing 1 - 3 pounds a week after the first week. So, they don't believe in the "time for healing" way of thinking. Once I started losing, it's been averaging about 2 lbs/week. I get my first fill on the 19th. I'm sooo looking forward to it. The hunger between meals hasn't been as bad as it was, but I've been drinking lots of protein so I think that's helping. - Finally an answer!!!!!!!!!
