How many incisions do you have?
I was prepared for 5 incisions. When I woke up and picked down on my tummy I saw 6! Even on my discharge paers they had to cross out the pre-written 5 incisions and make it 6. I am wondering if the doc . made one where he shouldn't have! They are nice neat incisions and 2 of them are larger than the rest. I guess the on on my left upper side is the port because that hurt the most after surgery. Just curious-how many incisions do you have?

Back to Work Now
Funny because my bra seems tight too! I was thinking I can't wait to lose weight in my boobs! I wore stretchy pants today-much better! Belly is still tender though and all my bandages are still on. I look like a battered woman with the bruises from the IVs!! I bruise really easily! *Gordana - I use to have a classroom and I can't imagine going back 4 days post op! That's so sweet that the kids are concerned!

Feeling Hungry!
I was banded a week ago too. This week I am allowed creamy soups, puddings, oatmeal, etc. I had Italian Wedding soup for dinner-I probably shouldn't have had the balls but I did chew them really good. I feel full now. I am not getting enough water in-have to work on that! I do 2 protein shakes (25 grams of protein a pice) and the shakes fill me up. I bough refried beans, hummus, and ricotta cheese-can't wait tii try them. Did you buy sugar free popcycles-they help a lot! I also bought decaf Chai Tea and that is something really nice to sip on. Good luck to you!

Best Protein Shake, HELP!!!!
Totally Lean GNC Premade Protein drink. Lots of protein, vitamins and Lactose free. I like the Swiss Chocolate-it's the best I have found. They are about $2.25 a piece but very delicous. I would suggest buying individual bottles of various brands abd tryingthem out! I started out with thick shakes like Atkins but now I am sick of them!

Excellent response!! I needed to hear those words too!

Will I Be Dieting Forever!!??
I would be very concerned about the fill process of your band. Discuss your concerns with your doctor and ask him why it doesn't seem to be acting as a too lto help you with your appetite. Something just doesn't sound right if that is all you lost. Be your own advocate and be proactive with your doctor and nutritionist. Plan your meals each day and keep a food journal for a couple of weeks. Bring that journal into to your doctor and nutritionist. With proper restriction I can't see why you aren't losing more. I wish you a successful journey!

Post-Honeymoon but pre-first-fill phase
My first fill is 5 weeks away. The first week post-op I had trouble getting anything down, but as I am approaching week 2 I can get thingss down a lot quicker and more of it! I am a little worried whatthe next 5 weeks will bring! I hear that it actually might take a few fils to get that just-right feeling. I guess these are the things to ask yourself: Am I getting all my Water in? I am planning my meals/snacks? Am I eating Protein first and avoid drinking prior to and after eating so food stays in the pouch longer? Have I started some form of exercise? Am I taking my Vitamins? Am I getting enough protein in? Am I liniting my caffine intake? We CAN do this!!!

This was me before. 3
Girl you have done Fantastic!!!!!!!!! Wow! Congratulations on losing all that weight! I can feel your frustration with your doctor. You'll get there!! You said you lost 152 pounds- when did you lose the rest? I see you have lost 27 pounds in 5 months (after surgery). The only other thing I could suggest it to find another doctor to do your fills? I would think the doctor would be okay with losing more than 1 pound per week?

Tried Starting My Letter
OMG! I know EXACTLY what you mean! I never told my daughters I was having the surgery so I really wanted to let them know something and thought about writing them letters too. All I wished for was to wake up from the surgery and when I was in recovery I said to myself "I'm alive!, Thank you God!" I think it's a natural fear. I think the change of anything going wrong with Lapband suregery is less than 1%-there great odds! People everyday get much , much, much more complicated surgies and do great , so you shouldn't worry! If a letter is too hard what about a voice recording or if you can tape yourself with a web cam? I opted not to write the letter and to just keep positive.

Back to Work Now
Went back to work today. I have a desk job for the most part but I am sore!! I tried on pants today thinking they might be loose but they weren't, even though I lost weight. Maybe I am still swollen? I really shouldn't have worn pants with a zipper and button because it's digging into my incisions. I have my zipper half unzipped! Anyone going back to work remember to wear loose, stretchy, comforatble pants! I am so tired and sore..but the good part is that my office is nice and cold and it's hot outside!! Tomorrow I move onto mushies!! I can't wait to stop bythe supermarket to get some things in!

Pain under rib cage?
I would say that sounds normal-I feel the same way (except I do not get shortness of breath). Remember they were in your tummy with all kinds of instruments so it's expected to be sore. I would be concerned about the shortness of breath. Do you have that breathing machine that you blow into? Try using that on a regular basis and see if it helps. Hope you feel better soon!

Day 4 after surgery HELP
Don't worry about a BM yet-I didn't get one until 4 days post surgery. Ice is good for your sore tummy! Drink, drink, drink!! Water should be with you at ALL times. If you are not a big water drinker try putting some Crystal LIght into it. The shakes you are drinking might not agree with you and give you gas. Can you tolerate milk? If not then maybe you need to switch it up. Hope you feel better!!!

removing bandages
Not much pain -trying work tomorrow. I do have a sore throat sometimes-really tight-wondering if it's GERD or Acid reflux. No, not enough proteins! lol It's so hard to get them in at this stage! I am down 14 (counting pre-op diet). Let me know what he says about the bandages

Prayer request
Deena I am so sorry to hear that you are in pain. Have you called the doctor to let him know? Are they gas pains in the neck area or pains from the incision or pains when you drink something (chest-type pains)? I think you are having natural feelings. I haven't been in much pain but I also think ..geeze will I always feel this way afer drinking a few ounces of liquids? The answer seems to be no. Give it time to heal, meanwhile you should be taking your meds. Let us know what kind of pain it is and we can offer ideas. As far as hunger goes make sure you get all the Protein in-protein gives you a "full" sense. It sounds like you may be drinking too much fluids at one time. Try measuring out fluids into a dixi cup and drink it-wait 15 minutes before taking anymore. Your band area is very swollen and can't take too much right now-but it will get better!! I know I get that feeling in the middle of my chest when I drink too much. God bless you and I do pray that you'll feel better soon. Please contact your doctor with your concerns.

Back to Work Tomorrow
What a crazy week! Had my surgery on Wednesday and now I am going back to work tomorrow. Diet-wise I have been doing okay. I can't wait to get on the clear liquids though-I mean enough is enough! But it will all be worth it I think I've lost 14 1/2 pounds in just 13 days so that's a good jumpstart! I have been researching a lot of recipes and websites too. The more I read the more I think "I Can Do This!" At 48 yrs. old I am ready to make a lifestyle change! Well I guess it's time to make a nice hot bowl of broth-(yawn)!
