  1. I have been sleeved myself since march 16th down over 20lbs and feeling like my body is back to normal so to speak. In the last few weeks I have come to understand that its possible to go to a clinic that doesn't take proper precautions and many are having leaks and infections. One lady I heard ran up a $285,000 hospital bill in the U.S. after her lowest price sleeve turned into a night mare. Another lady I talked to quit one clinic she worked at that had many leaks and infections. She also told me that these same people that got mistreated DON'T speak up about it afterward. Please if you have had a bad experience speak up! When a lot of these are coming out of the same place we should be able to collectively do something about it! I feel so bad that there are many people going to places (with lowest VSG price) that are ramming people through without proper care (because they are doing 12 per day in the same O.R) and then ending up with leaks, infections and feeding tubes, man this is so bad!!! Please lets do something about this to save the misery of others.

    6 months out

Well six months out and doing good. The weight just keeps slowly coming off. Down 72 lbs now. I am doing a lot of biking so I have also out on some muscle. Just started lifting weights again a week ago so I expect to put some more weight with that. Into 38 in. jeans now... and I don't know the last time that happened! Bags and bags of my clothes to the thrift store... I refuse to spend much on clothes. I going with one pair of jeans at a time through the journey... I don't count carbs or cals at all and I am enjoying eating less food... Cookies (life style kind) every day with my Tim Horton's coffee. I would like to be down 100lbs by Christmas... It will be close! Blessings Russ
  3. Yes I am 6 months out and down 74lbs. I have though being exercising lots. I have spent a lot of time biking the last few months. Some days over 50K so I have put on a certain amount of muscle on my legs. I also have just started back to the Y and have begun lifting weights again so that will cause me to have more muscle/weight in my upper body. All the best Russ

70# lost is there more to go?

Hi there, It has been a while since a I have been on the boards... My wife and I were sleeved March 16th. I am down 68 lbs. and my wife 36, so it sounds you are doing very well! I started at 341 and am at 272.5 now. My wife 241 and now 205. I have about 60 lbs. to go. We have not been strict with our diet at all. We do eat healthy but I probably take in 1200 to 1500 cal each days. It sounds as if you have just hit a stall. You will start to lose again soon. How far yet have you to go? All the best Russ
  11. On Monday (Aug.16) will be at 5 months. and I am down 63 lbs. and my wife is down 34 lbs. We are slowly seeing the weight loss but we are not low calorie/carb counters... Between the 3 the 4 month period I lost only a few lbs. but the next month I lost about 10. I am thankful with the sleeve I am able to see weight come off (slowly) and STAY off. Other than the first month I have not had big poundage come off. I am telling my story so that some will be encouraged when they too are not loosing 30 or 40 lbs in a short time. If you loose 5 to 10 lbs per month over a period of time you will get there! Blessings Russ

    Lap Band vs VSG

I myself was going to go the lap band route. When I began more study I found that the VSG was the only way to go. I found way to many people that had problems with the band. Also I found many people that had the band and then had it removed to get the VSG. I am sure if you go and do a good research you will know without any doubt the VSG is your only real choice. Blessings Russ

    Feeling really tired.

At four weeks out I don't think that it is unusual that you feel tired, most do. At four weeks out I was still getting over the weird sleeping thing where I would wake up at 4 or so and couldn't get back to sleep. Are getting enough calories? What about protein? Some are only taking in 600 to 800 calories per day and I don't think it helps to lose when you are down that low and also makes you tired. Things will improve for you especially over the next 4 to 6 weeks. Blessings Russ

    100 Pounds Gone

    Absolutely great, enjoy life!
  17. This is indeed a tragedy and our hearts certainly go out to you! Another example why it is at great risk someone would decide to go Emmanuel/Jerusalem clinic!!! Thank you so much for coming forward to share your personal experience because many do not after what they endured. God bless you Russ
  18. Well today my wife and I are two months out and things are good! I got on the scales today and I am down 40lbs. From 341 to 301! My wife is down 22lbs. Russ & Sonia

    May16th- Two months out!

We eating everything in moderation. (I have 2 to 3 coffees a day as well) I make sure I am getting my protein in. I'd say I am around 1200 cal. per day. if you are too few I think it hurts you. I'll have a small home made hamburger and some broccoli for a meal. One egg omelet with a piece of toast in morning. I try to have two protein shakes each day. Low fat yogort which I add fresh fruit. I bike every day. Slowly it just keeps coming off and I don't check the scales too often!
  20. My wife and I got sleeved together March 16th so around the same time as you. I am down 40lbs. and she is down 21, so my wife is about the same as you. Women lose slower. Make sure you getting your 60 grams of protein each day and 64 oz of water.
