  1. Yes I am 6 months out and down 74lbs. I have though being exercising lots. I have spent a lot of time biking the last few months. Some days over 50K so I have put on a certain amount of muscle on my legs. I also have just started back to the Y and have begun lifting weights again so that will cause me to have more muscle/weight in my upper body. All the best Russ
  2. Well six months out and doing good. The weight just keeps slowly coming off. Down 72 lbs now. I am doing a lot of biking so I have also out on some muscle. Just started lifting weights again a week ago so I expect to put some more weight with that. Into 38 in. jeans now... and I don't know the last time that happened! Bags and bags of my clothes to the thrift store... I refuse to spend much on clothes. I going with one pair of jeans at a time through the journey... I don't count carbs or cals at all and I am enjoying eating less food... Cookies (life style kind) every day with my Tim Horton's coffee. I would like to be down 100lbs by Christmas... It will be close! Blessings Russ
  3. Hi there, It has been a while since a I have been on the boards... My wife and I were sleeved March 16th. I am down 68 lbs. and my wife 36, so it sounds you are doing very well! I started at 341 and am at 272.5 now. My wife 241 and now 205. I have about 60 lbs. to go. We have not been strict with our diet at all. We do eat healthy but I probably take in 1200 to 1500 cal each days. It sounds as if you have just hit a stall. You will start to lose again soon. How far yet have you to go? All the best Russ
  4. On Monday (Aug.16) will be at 5 months. and I am down 63 lbs. and my wife is down 34 lbs. We are slowly seeing the weight loss but we are not low calorie/carb counters... Between the 3 the 4 month period I lost only a few lbs. but the next month I lost about 10. I am thankful with the sleeve I am able to see weight come off (slowly) and STAY off. Other than the first month I have not had big poundage come off. I am telling my story so that some will be encouraged when they too are not loosing 30 or 40 lbs in a short time. If you loose 5 to 10 lbs per month over a period of time you will get there! Blessings Russ
  5. Thanks for the good wishes, Russ!
  6. I myself was going to go the lap band route. When I began more study I found that the VSG was the only way to go. I found way to many people that had problems with the band. Also I found many people that had the band and then had it removed to get the VSG. I am sure if you go and do a good research you will know without any doubt the VSG is your only real choice. Blessings Russ
  7. Well with a bit of a stall after two months out I thought I would not hit the 50 lbs mark @ 3 months (VSG March16) But June 12th I was down 50 lbs.!!! Russ
  8. At four weeks out I don't think that it is unusual that you feel tired, most do. At four weeks out I was still getting over the weird sleeping thing where I would wake up at 4 or so and couldn't get back to sleep. Are getting enough calories? What about protein? Some are only taking in 600 to 800 calories per day and I don't think it helps to lose when you are down that low and also makes you tired. Things will improve for you especially over the next 4 to 6 weeks. Blessings Russ
  9. Absolutely great, enjoy life!
  10. We eating everything in moderation. (I have 2 to 3 coffees a day as well) I make sure I am getting my protein in. I'd say I am around 1200 cal. per day. if you are too few I think it hurts you. I'll have a small home made hamburger and some broccoli for a meal. One egg omelet with a piece of toast in morning. I try to have two protein shakes each day. Low fat yogort which I add fresh fruit. I bike every day. Slowly it just keeps coming off and I don't check the scales too often!
  11. My wife and I got sleeved together March 16th so around the same time as you. I am down 40lbs. and she is down 21, so my wife is about the same as you. Women lose slower. Make sure you getting your 60 grams of protein each day and 64 oz of water.
  12. Well today my wife and I are two months out and things are good! I got on the scales today and I am down 40lbs. From 341 to 301! My wife is down 22lbs. Russ & Sonia
  13. Yes I downloaded the pics from my camera onto my computer then when I go to upload them to my profile it browses to find the pics but then it won't allow me to do it. It just says upload failed...
  14. I have been trying to down load some pics to my profile and it just keeps saying failed. Can anyone advise? Russ
  15. Hello my name is Russ and my wife is Sonia and we were sleeved together March 16 2010. This is a really good way to do it! We can supply you all kinds of info if you want. Get back to us, Russ & Sonia
  16. my husband and I got sleeved the same day. He has been a 100% positive right from the beginning. So I have my own built in support system at home. I think for my self there has been more of a range of feelings. But over all it is wonderful to be free from the slavery of food, we are only one month out and are still adjusting to the new life style. I wanted to find out if other woman found them selves having a problem waking up in the middle of the night for no reason, just laying there wanting to sleep Ha Ha!!
  17. Thanks everyone for the replies. My wife and I just got back from a nice time biking. I am trying to average around 20k a day, (about 12.5 miles). It is something I really enjoy and if I have to go to the bank or any other errands I just go on my bike. Blessings Russ
  18. Well my wife and I are one month out today, April16th! I am down 27lbs and the love of my life is down 13lbs. Is this about normal? It seems my weight really stalled the last week and a half with most of the loss coming the first 2 1/2 weeks. Still having problems sleeping long enough. You know waking up at 4 or 5. Can anyone tell me how much longer this will go on for? The last two days combined, 48 kilometers on my bike ( sorry my American friends, I am from Canada, about 30 miles) Any input is appreciated, blessings Russ
  19. I know what you mean... I felt weird when I asked the guy with the grocery carts to lift my bags in the trunk I had never, never done anything like that before... Blessings Russ
  20. You will be fine. You won't set any records going through the airport (I know Sonia and I didn't going through San Diego airport) Make sure you get Water in and most of all DO not lift anything more than about 10 lbs. Ask for help! Even when you first get home for the first two weeks. When I went grocery shopping for first two weeks I would flag down the guy collecting shopping carts in the parking lot and would ask him to please put my groceries in my trunk because I just had an operation. When I got home I got my boy to bring them in. Don't lift your suitcase either get help! All the best Russ!
  21. Congratulations! For me and my wife the first 18 hours was horrendously painful and then rapidly improved from there and we never had to take anything for pain after day three. It is amazing how quick you recover though. Keep us posted on your progress! All the best Russ
