  1. I am having severe arthritis and I am 6 weeks post op. I was wondering how people who have major problems are managing without NSAIDS. Can we take a crushed tablet mixed in food or something?
  2. my goal is to live with out NSAIDS .be fit and healthy. Before sleeve i was getting cramps, had pain in calves, back ache could stand for even 2 minutes due to circulation problems. all these problems have vanished!!! I was taking 5,6 pain killers daily for arthritic pain. Now no tablets just a liquid pain killer sometimes. I am confident that with more weight loss I will walk better.
  3. wALKING REDUCES GAS. but I too think you need more rest. it is a major surgery.
  4. Better to talk to your doctor. I hope you are not in Pain. all the best.Take care and take rest.
  5. yes i too have got blurry vision..must be the weakness. But I read in 1 post that someone's vision actually improved after sleeve!! lets hope for the best.
  6. mood swings and depression are bound to happen as there are huge hormonal changes in our body. cheer up you will be fine.
  7. I had the band but did nto loose much weight..then it slipped and I started putting on weight. I now have the sleeve and am loosing weight gradually.
  8. A "stall" a few weeks out is inevitable, and here's why. Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet. As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a saber tooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.

I feel like going back to my diet of soft foods...In India they dont believe in tracking Proteins...just stay hungry and loose weight..
  13. thanks chica...thats a positive update....I did need it...at the hospital they told me..u didnt loose with the band..but the weight loss in sleeve is 110%. Lets be positive...the weight will come down.

  18. hi Indigo!!! Today is a holiday here...no work and I am going crazy thinking I am not going to succeed...my weight has stalled since 2 weeks... I had the band for 2 yrs...lost 6 kg in the first 15 days and thats it...I hope this doesnt happen with the sleeve...oh no... I know its too early and I must be patient....i was taking Proteins now again on liquids..i am praying hard my body responds....constipation is also worrying me...
  19. no pain at all...dont worry..they will remove it and just put a dressing on top.
  20. thanks Indigo...I am feeling better...I thought only our doctors had such diets...others on this forum are eating a lot. Yes i will stick to my diet now..I was burping a lot with semi solids...that means it was hard on my stomach.
  21. i am following the Doc's orders...she said thin milk shakes...so hardly 20 gms Protein in a day....isnt it too low. I had started soft foods..every few hrs with some Proteins....fish also as I need Omega 3... Now again my body will wonder..why no proteins coming ..
  22. thanks so much for understanding. I was feeling low now I know I have so many friends who care I am feeling better. I have not lost weight since 10 days but i was ok as I had read about stalls. But at the hospital they did not approve of my diet. I was reading these forums and had started scrambled egg and oats with cheese. they disapproved and asked me to go back to Soups.and milk shakes. Here in India post operative is not so good. They want us to starve and loose maximum weight. I have stopped eggs and oats and cheese. The doc knows better. If I want to loose better follow their instructions.

  25. I too met my doctor yesterday and came back very upset...all she could say was no...no cheese no eggs...only Soups, body is still healing.. its been a month now and I am back to soups....I too was too upset.
