Diet Soda, Carbonated Water question
THANK YOU!!!! I so appreciate this post as I am a big carbinated Water drinker... I ran into a bit of a rut with crystal light and was having trouble getting my daily fluid in... I do crystal light, but at times I want the fizz, I want to drink the carbonated water. Since trying the carbonated water I am hitting around 70 - 90 fluid oz a day with my fluid, so it has really helped...

Feeling discouraged
Hhmmm are you watching your carb intake? Between calories and carbs it can really throw you off.. I have hunger issues if I let carbs sneak in... Hang in there, hope it gets better....

Diet Soda, Carbonated Water question
I drink the Wal-Mart brand "Zero Clear" - It is zero everything (caffene, calaries, sodium, etc... It does have 8 vitamins and Taurine for energy... it is a "sparkling water" --- I love it, my husband says it is way too sweet, but he doesnt like my crystal light either. I have not noticed any difference in hunger or weight loss by drinking the sparkling water. It does help me get my fluid intake in and gives me another choice other than plain water or cyrstal light.

Excess skin question
I too have asked questions about the sagging skin.... I am being told your age, amount of weight loss and skin elasticity have a huge role in how our skin rebounds after losing wieight. Moisturizers, lotions and creams certainly help as well as exercise to firm/tone --but in some situations there is nothing but surgery that can help the sagging skin.

Tuesday Weigh-In Day
Before getting sleeved in January I had read, read, read,,, anything and everything I could about WLS. I had read how people get so hung up on the scale, typically weighing themselves everyday and how frustrating it can be. I decided to only weigh myself once a week... every Tuesday. I weighed myself this morning and I have officially lost 90 lbs in 7 1/2 months!!! YEAH!!!! I know there are others that have just totally awesome stats, but for me to actually LOSE weight is great, and to lose this much weight - I am beyond words! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!

Food suggestions??
Hi! I am curious how the carbs are for you? I have not yet had any bread, rolls or buns....havent touched them cause of the unnecessary calories & carbs.... a grilled cheese sandwich sounds wonderful and english muffin with peanut butter... OMG.... but the carb issue is a concern, I have really been trying to stay away from the carbs... ugh.... dont they leave you wanting more?

Scared to start Soft Foods
I am 7 months out and still have days of difficulty with food sitting well with my tummy! When I find something that is good Protein and sits well in my tummy, I tend to stay with it! Fat Free cottage cheese.... I eat every single day. I love it.. but, I cant do yogart... have tried several different kinds of yogart and just cant. I cant do a pot roast or steak but I love beef Jerky.... It is totally odd what does and does not sit well, or taste well now... chicken and turkey have always been good for my tummy and protien/calories/carbs... so I stick primarily with Chicken & turkey... rotissere and sometimes deli sliced... it works for me! You will find what works for you by trail & error! Refried beens, eggs and Protein shakes are still part of my diet!

Failing in the protein department
Awww.... hang in there, it will get better! I could not get all my protien level in for a good 3-4 weeks out, and my primary Protein was shakes and the protein tube shots.... sip, sip, sip...

A question for those who lost 100+ pounds
Just remember we all are different, each doc/nut recommend different daily calorie/carb/protien.... but we all know our downfalls in diet and exercise... the surgery helps us tremondously, but we have to put much effort towards losing weight as well. I know from my past 7 months that Carbs are not my friend and I totally faithfully followed my calorie/carb/protien guidelines for the first 5 months... but if I dare slip just for one meal and have for example bread.... my downfall! A roll or slice of bread... I can tell I am craving more later, I get hungrier easily, its tough... Carbs are not my friend...period. Below are my stats, I want to reach a goal weight of 150 lbs. Do the math.. it would put me at needing to lose more than half my weight... I have never set an end date to hit my goal...I have my mind determined to be on the path to lose and to "someday" hit my goal weight of 150... I work on this daily, I work on making the right food choices, exercise and push my self to keep pluggin along... it is hard... somedays it is very hard... but then you weigh yourself and see a good loss, or you put on a pair of jeans that you never thought you would fit into and it ALL is worth it!!! Things like this keep your drive going for losing more, and staying on the right path! Good Luck, your making the right choice for a healthier you!!!!

what vitamins are you taking post op?
I take Centrum Chewable Multi vitamin each day I do sublingual liquid B Complex dropper ful each day I take a vitamin D and vitiman E suplement each day And my favorite friend is Biotin.... I started taking it at 1 month post op.. I take 5000 mcg twice a day - I found it at Meijers stores for 10.00 a bottle of 60.. It does promote hair growth, like the others said I notice more hair underarms, leg, nose hair.. but I can control those! ... I still lose hair, but I feel Biotin has helped a great deal... it also helps your nails stay strong!

Can liquid stretch your sleeve?
yes, like Foxbins said liquids cannot stretch out your pouch... liquids run through it, your fine and congrats on keeping the Fluid flowing that is so valuable in many ways, ,, you keep your hydration up, you feel fuller, it helps your skin & body.... You are doing awesome by pushing them fluids!!!

Out to eat
Wow... . I could totally see my mom doing this (if she had WLS)... why is it that moms feel like they have to tell so many personal things! I am often asked by the waitstaff if something is wrong with my food because I ate so little of it. On one occasion the waitress was very concerned, asked me twice about it... a few mintues later the resturant manager came over and said the waitress was concerned something may be wrong with my meal........... I was really surprised, and at first just a little ruffled by it, then the manager proceeded to talk so calmly and was so sweet, she was truly concerned that something was wrong and she offered to take my meal off the bill since I obviously did not like it.... I felt so bad! I told the manager that I was not feeling quite right and needed my stomach to calm down some, but the food was great... I am not sure if she believed me or not... I was impressed with this restuarnt though... they cared that much that a customer was unhappy with thier meal... which is rare for most resturants I am sure your mom means well,, and your pretty much not going to change her habit of telling people her story.. God Bless her,,, our moms are special arent they!!!!
