So so frustrated and feeling like a failure
I, too, find that sometimes when I feel hungry, I'm actually thirsty. Also, when I eat carbs, I crave carbs! They are nasty little demons! Good luck! It takes a while to figure out what works for you!

Is this normal??
Hang in there! You are going to be so happy with your sleeve! It has changed my life! I went straight from filled band to sleeve. No longer do I have the insatiable hunger that I had with the band. I consider myself a slow loser but I am down 46 lbs in 4.5 months. I can live with that!! Good luck and you'll do fine!!

eating too much!!! what do I do to stop?
Great Advise! I am reading and working the book...The End of Overeating by Kessler. He states that each time we do not succumb to an eating cue...we become stronger and more able to resist that cue the next time! It's not easy, but it works!! Good luck! Barb

Pain when I Swallow...Help!!!
Hey Guys! Has anybody had trouble with pain when swallowing...even when there is nothing to swallow? I have had trouble since last Sunday. The only think I can think that happened was that I over ate some chicken and rice on Saturday night. I was too full, but didn't throw it up...guess I should have...anyway, I went to bed full and woke with pain when I swallow. I called my dr on Tuesday and he told me to do liquids and to take the anti-spasm medicine that he had sent home with me after surgery. Today is Thursday and I am still unable to eat or drink without pain. I am really frightened that I really messed up. Please weigh in and let me know if anybody has had such a problem. I saw the dr today and he said to continue to take the maximum dose of the spasm medicine. Help! tell me this is going to go away!!! I was doing so well! oh yea, I'm about 3.5 months out and down 43 lbs as of today! :0( Barb

What were your reasons?
Welcome to the ''hood! Your story could have been mine! I had my sleeve surgery on May 3rd of this year and I have not regretted it at all. I don't think I would be considered a fast loser, but I am really happy with the results. I, too, only lost a total if 10 lbs over the 5 years that I had the band. So, losing 38 lbs and passing my lowest band weight has really been wonderful! You will do great! Just follow the rules Abd enjoy being able to eat like a normal person. It is amazing to live without constant barfing!!! I have only thrown up once since the surgery and that from s girl that used to throw up 2-3 times a day! Success! I love it!!! Good luck and keep us posted! Cheers- Barb

The Scale has decided to move again! Yipee!
Hi All! Yipee! Finally broke the barrier and I am under my lowest Lap band weight! I have been in a stall for a couple of weeks and it feels so good to get rolling again. You guys are so supportive, I really appreciate everyone of you! Now that I am nearing my halfway point, I am starting to think about my goal weight. It has been so long since I was anywhere near "normal". I would love to hear from you guys who have reached your "normal". How does it feel? Are you over the moon or a bit freaked out? Looking forward to your replies!! Barb

Why am I so hungry????????????
I have found that sometimes what I think is hunger is actually thirst. When I increase the H2O, it seems to help! Good Luck! Barb

I love seeing your time line! You have done great! Funny, too! My son's wedding was one of my Goal Dates and it was cancelled, too! Keep up the good work! Barb

Hi All! Jax thanks for the message and checking up on me! I am fine and doing well. I'll be 8 weeks post next Tuesday and have my Dr appointment on June 30. Anxious to see what his scales say. Clothes sure are fitting better and some are falling off!!! Lol I'm actually in the Caribbean this week on a 60th Birthday Bash girlfriend trip! Wow, this has been a tough one! Glad to be heading home to "normalcy"...whatever that is! For me it will be a week if shakes as my new little tummy is feeling the effects of too much everything!!! Love you guys and promise to stay in touch!! Off to take some cipro. Barb

The good thing about being a slow loser
I'm not quite 2 months out so I really can't call myself a slow loser yet. I do know that I am quite a bit slower that a friend who started the process one day before I did. You know, I've just chalked it up to different body types, different metabolism and the fact that I need to get my butt off the couch and out the door to exercise ! Yes, somedays I dwell on the scale, but most days I just enjoy the fact that I Am moving through my closet...do you guys have a closet full of lap band clothes that didn't fit anymore, too?...and getting rid of things as I go! I have actually moved all my winter clothes upstairs so I will have a place to go "shopping" in the Fall. Hopefully, I'll be bagging it all up for Goodwill!!! Life is good and my sleeve is my friend! Having my band removed/VSG surgery on 6/17!
Thanks Honey! I really am stoked! I love my sleeve! I love the fact that I am not fighting the old hunger monster. It truly is amazing. I love being satisfied with the food I am eating. The sleeve gives me time to think about the right choices. (it reminds me of how diet pills used to work, without the sleepless nights, that is!)

Having my band removed/VSG surgery on 6/17!
Hey Tiff! I love hearing you say that! I want to be "living proof", too! I've lost 26.5 lbs in 5 weeks. I am shooting for at least 10lbs a month until I reach my goal of 145. (that's about 5.5 months...do-able, right?)

4 Weeks Out just arrived in ONEderland!
Hi All! Just got back from my official 4 week weigh-in at the surgeon's office. I was so thrilled when the scale said 199.5!!! Today is my first day of "mushies" and I just had 1/3 cup of chicken salad. Went down well, but now is sitting in my new little tummy like a rock. I'm actually pretty happy that I feel so full. All those liquids had me wondering how tight I was going to be! Guess that Chicken Salad answered that question! lol Any "mushy" ideas will be greatly appreciated! Happy Tuesday! Barb
-
Moving to Thick Liquids on Tuesday...Ideas appreciated!
We are all so funny! I am disappointed because I CAN eat mushies with no problem! I want to have very good restriction and I worry that I do not. I am extremely happy that I am not hungry! I just hope Dr. Spaw gave me a teeny tiny tummy! lol

Moving to Thick Liquids on Tuesday...Ideas appreciated!
Thanks! I'll look into that! I have been putting Protein powder in my Jello Sugar Fre pudding...Pretty good but a little gummy! Happy Friday! Barb PS...Next Tuesday, I move to mushies!!!

Time from band out to sleeve performed
Makes perfect sense to me! I had my Band for 4.5 years and I was really happy that he was able to do it all at one time. I did go into surgery knowing that it was a possibility that I would wake up un-sleeved. Good luck! Barb

Time from band out to sleeve performed
Do you mind me asking why you have to wait 2 weeks? I had my band to sleeve revision back on May 3 and it was done in one surgery. I, also, had a huge lipoma removed while I was asleep! Just wondering. All doctors are different! Good luck with your surgery. You are going to love the sleeve! Barb quote name='anonynurse' timestamp='1306334808' post='155093'] Hi all. I am getting my band out on the 31st and then will be sleeved on June 16th. I just have a question: How hard is the time between the removal and then the revision in terms of appetite, nausea, weakness, pain, recovery and ability to work? I'll be on the pre-op diet during that interim. Thanks!
