  7. thats what the body media is suposed to do as well how much did the jawbone cost if you dont mind my asking
  8. ok so ive gone to see the skin removal surgeon and im not yet at my goal but close to it but when i went to see him he said that medicare doesnt let them know until after the surgery is done if it has been approved or not im just wondering if this has held true to anyone else and what was the outcome??? im not sure if i can take the chance of not knowing and then get a huge bill in the mail later and not be able to afford it!

  10. ive been wondering the same thing about the body bugg or they have a new one called body media these are both expensive but im wondering if it would be worth it?
  11. my weight is 178... 2 lbs under my goal whoohoo!!
  12. i didnt get to weigh myself this morning i know im still at least 180 (hopefully less)... i will weigh myself 2morrow and check in!
  13. So i have a friend considering wls and i went to a seminar with her! its been a year and 3 months since ive had my surgery and close to 2 years since i started this journey! how amazing it was to sit and listen to the basics again! i almost felt those nerves again of starting the lap band journey and for once was almost a little proud of myself! as the dr talked about the amount of weight people normally lose in their first year based on Statistics i realized where i thought i would be and where i am now and how great it feels to have lost 100 lbs! just thought id share!
  14. injuries can be difficult! at least your not gaining though! if your not paying for your appt (i dont know what insurance you have or if your self pay) whats the harm in going? the weight loss team here are the most supportive and the only people who keep me sane sometimes plus they have more suggestions then i would ever think of! id go in and see what they have to say like i said whats the harm?
  15. Thanks patty! i saw that you met your goal as well congrats!! how amazing is it to set a goal and reach it? i hope this luck continues! im so used to failing at losing weight it never feels real ya know?
  16. i have come to the conclusion that i will meet my goal, i have 10 lbs to go before the plastic surgeon will remove the skin and i have about 20 until i meet my goal. i am hoping i will be minus 10 in at the most 2 months. would like 2 have the skin gone by summer! once again guys thanks for all your help and words of support! i guess only we can allow ourselves not to be the people that we want to be! i hate second guessing myself! i guess i was just sick of hearing not to get my hopes up! but you guys are all right i need to decide whats best for me!
  17. 180 this morning! met my january goal! anything more would be great!
  18. thank you guys for all your responses and i will be sure to ask why people say this esp people who do not understand... surgeons i guess some have their reasoning like the wls surgeon has seen how many people with issues or who arent meeting their goals or who have allowed themselves to not get everything they could get out of wls but then i look at the cosmetic surgeon and wonder why he responded that way ya know? maybe just anxious to do the surgery so that he can get paid? idk but i dont think that they should have that kind of attitude i mean amp ppl up tell them they can and maybe they will believe it and do it! but friends and family who havent had it done? whats the issue? like you floridays why do people say your withering away? im still a size 14 it may be less once the skin is removed but what maybe a size? im still considered overweight and have been overweight or obese my entire life i dont want this anymore that is why i got the surgery done... my boyfriend is one who seems to think im fine and that i dont need 2 lose anymore. it just adds more stress because i then start to question myself and honestly i still havent seen the difference in myself yet the aprn said it takes everyone different amounts of time to see im still waiting but i want to be the appropriate weight for my height and i will get there and you guys are great for listening and helping me work through this! and again i will be sure to ask ?s to the next person who says something like that 2 me!
  19. im just wondering why everyone keeps telling me not to get my hopes up? i am putting in the effort as of today im minus 99lbs. it took me a while to get used to the band but i have and im here i mean my surgeon originally told me i wouldnt get past 225 in the first year and at my one year i was 198 so i exceded his expectations why am i still being told not to get my hopes up? is it that they see people who fail more often then not or does it have to do with me? its just a little discouraging ya know?
  20. my surgeon has said the same thing 10 lbs away from goal will be ok right now i am 22 lbs away so i need another 11-12 lbs which can be done!
  21. my surgeon told me to cut your food up as if you were about to feed it to a baby... and they have always said at least 30 chews i sometimes need more depending on what the food is such as meats just about any kind i have to chew it until it pretty much mush
  22. ok so im 5'7 and my starting weight was 280 i am now 182 my personal goal is to be what would be considered as my "normal" weight range for my height which is 159 and that is the very top! i have had my surgery done for a year and a little over 2 months. i feel like i am constantly hearing from people not to get disappointed if i dont reach my goal! i have heard it from doctors the most recent was a cosmetic surgeon for skin removal. but i have heard it from the surgeon who did my band i have heard it from family, friends i just feel like im constantly hearing it im wondering if my goal isnt set to high? am i setting myself up for failure? i used to feel as though it was an accurate goal now im questioning it and i cant get the skin removed until im 10lbs away from my goal. should i lower my expectations of myself or should i wait and continue until i hit that 169-170 mark?
  23. Can I not do this without surgery? only you can answer that we all made the decision to get the surgery done because we felt and or knew we couldnt do it without the surgery Can I not enjoy food again? you can still enjoy food just not everything you may want and not as much the lap band is only a tool to help you loose weight it doesnt stop you from eating everything! Why don't I see success stories for men? there are alot of men out there with success stories and there are a few on this site Can you tell me your start height/weight, current weight and how long it took you to get there. Feel free to answer one or all! Thanks! im not a guy but my start weight was 280 im 5'7 and i am now 182(last i checked which was a few days ago) it took me a year and 2 in a half months to get here!
  24. it varies for everyone. all doctors are not the same i think i started off with getting 1cc everytime i went in and then it was half cc and now 1/4.... some doctors do alot more then that at first (i wish mine did) and then ive heard alot of people say the same thing as pebbagirl but they should be taking it semi slowly i guess. again it just depends on the dr.
