  1. I didn't have to do the liquid diet, but did have a VERY strict Dr. I am glad that I did (do)!! He is very NO NONSENSE and expects you to follow his rules. This is a VERY SERIOUS surgery and you should do what they say!! You could have serious complications if you don't!! He gave me a low carb, low fat, high protein diet to follow and advised me to do it...didn't say I HAD TO, but advised me to and to lose 25lbs. I could not come to see him until I did. AND would not be given a surgery date until I did!! That motivated me!! I lost 55!! If you have a Dr. that is strict be glad! At least you know you have one that is not going to operate on just anyone to make money! That should make you feel good! At least you know he cares! I'm glad mine is the way he is and have told him so many times! Kelly
  2. NO PROBLEM!! My surgeon said the only problem was you could not wear tampons! They will give you these granny panty's to wear that have pads built in and you are good to go!! How cute!! I am sure all hospitals are the same! Good luck with your surgery!! Kelly
  3. when i was on liquids, i just drank whenever. on full liquids i did the same and i never felt restriction. when i went to pureed foods, i felt funny after a few bites, but don't think i was "full", i was just paranoid about getting too full and trowing up so when i would get a werid feeling, i would stop! now, i am on soft foods, i am allowed 1/2 c three times a day and i NEVER eat it all. i eat all protein at this point and i usually start to gurlgle when i start to get full. I have not got that FULL feeling and tightness in my chest that others feel and I have not thrown up, but when I start to gurlgle, like a drain, i stop! i definatley undereat my sleeve, but i am ok with that. kelly
  4. The Sweet Carmalized Onion Chicken burgers from Costco are sooo good too! I just heat them in the microwave for about 35 seconds and they have 22grams of protein to boot! Kelly
  5. I walked from day one home from the hospital. Futher and further everyday. I was not allowed to lift over 10lbs for the first 4 weeks and NO ab work. When I went for my first check-up at 6 weeks out, I was cleared to do whatever I wanted. Kelly
  6. You really should not worry about protein, carbs or calories until you are able to eat solid foods! Don't OBSESS!! Just focus on staying hydrated. You will be fine! Kelly
  7. You will just have to give your body time to heal. AND, I must say, that GAS is no joke!! I was a mess for 3-4 days! Just remember that you WILL be able to eat again! I am 8 weeks out today and I could enjoy a hamburger and some other items if I wanted to, but I am avoiding things at this point. You will get there, but not this early in the game! Wait a few months until you are healed and can enjoy a REAL meal and then celebrate your b-day then. You will be glad that you did! Congrats on your sleeve and Happy Birthday too!! Kelly
  8. If your dr. put steri-strips on you could be alergic to them. YOu might want to give them a call. That sounds a little worrysome. But as far as infection, I would not think so! Kelly
  9. I am exactly 8 weeks out today and feel like a million bucks! I have felt good since about 3 weeks out! I went back to work after a week. You will be fine! Good luck on your upcomming surgery! Kelly
  10. on my mushy stage, i was allowed bananas. some on here have issues with them, so, if i were you i would only eat maybe 1/4 of one at first to see how it goes for you. i did not have issues with it. however, people proabably just don't mention them because if you do what you are supposed to, which is protein first, you really do not have room for fruit. and they do have ALOT of carbs and sugar in them. i don't low carb, but do eat my protein first, but have a banana for a snack a couple times a week, as i get leg cramps and it helps. Kelly
  11. You should only be concerned if you have drainage that covers more than 3 guaze pads in a 24 hour period and the drainage is green/yellow and foul smelling. If you don't have drainage and it just itches, you are just healing! Kelly
  12. If you have anything that is not PROTEIN tasting. I hate most protein drinks because of the taste. YUCK!! Is that nectar stuff protein tasting? If you have some of that, I would like to try it! Thanks, Kelly
  13. Whew, good to know that you are o.k.!! Kelly
  14. Ok, so this has really made me MAD!! I went back and looked at your stats. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? You were sleeved a week after me I was on 5/9 and you 5/16 and you have lost 25lbs!! That is 7 weeks ago tomorrow and according to MY math, that is 3.6 lbs a week! WHO DOES THAT? You are right on target where you should be. I have lost 30lbs and if someone told me what she told you, I would punch them! I am so happy with my loss and would not want to be shot down like that! I am sorry, but you need to tell your mom to go fly a kite! Just sayin'! Kelly
  15. GOOD FOR YOU!! Welcome to ONDERLAND!! It is such a beautiful place to be!! Kelly
  16. First of all, how afwfu for you that your own mother would say something so horrible to you!! I am so sorry! That is not nice at all. She should be applauding your weight loss, not shooting you down! How sad! Every pound lost should be celebrated, not said it is not happening fast enough! WOW! I am not sure when you were sleeved or how long you have been at this, but Celebrate every pound and if people in your life are going to be negative about your weight loss, don't be around them! You should have people around that are going to support you, not beat you down! So what if it takes you 5 years to lose everything that you want to lose, at least you are doing it! Those that shoot you down are just jealous of you. Know that and keep your head up and keep doing what you are doing! You are doing GREAT! Every pound is a pound closer to where you want to be and be happy about it! Kelly
  17. I don't go as much as I use to either. Some days is more than others, but definatley not like I used to. I think and I am not a dr. by any means! That it is because a lot of the food we used to eat had Water in it and now that we can not eat as much a lot of that water is not in our bodies any longer. Could that be possible? I use to eat lots of veggies and fruit and now I can't. Make sense? I hope someone else chimes in here. Kelly
  18. I had my surgery 5/9/11, so 8 weeks ago tomorrow. I lost 55lbs pre-op and have lost 30 lbs since surgery. I did have a 2 week stall and lost NOTHING, but contribute that to not eating enough calories. Hence, the Slim Fast and Carnation Instant Breakfast I was drinking. That non-flavored Protein makes me GAG!! I can not stand it!! The only Protein Drink or mixes I can tolerate are GNC Whebolic Extreme 60 chocolate and Pure Protein vanilla mix and the ready to drink strawberry Cream (it is soooo yummy)!! Kelly
  19. I was in the same boat as you until about 5 weeks out.. I would try and eat thick or solid stuff even chewed to liquid and it just felt stuck!! I was so discouraged and felt defeated!! My first meal on mushies, I made chicken salad with canned chicken and it was stuck in my throat for 3 hours!! I was so upset. Then I tried and egg, same thing. Then cottage cheese, same thing! I thought I would never eat again! I was forced to drink Slim Fast Low Carb for a few weeks to get calories in because I couldn't get any nutrients from food and I HATE protein drinks! I finally have found one that I can handle, but then I couldn't!! Then about week 5 or so, it is like the swelling left. I tried some salmon and it just went down fine. I ate tri-tip the next day and it was fine, an egg, no problem! Some just take a longer time than others. I never had an issue with liquids, just solids. You will get there too! Just be patient. Get some Wendy's chili. That works well and is satisfying. Creamed soups, Foster Farms meatballs with some gravy pureed are sooo good too! Patients my friend. Once a week try something thicker and see how it goes, if not, go back and then try it next week! Good luck! Kelly
