  1. That was me after surgery!! I was so hot and would get like flashes. I would be fine and then just pouring with sweat and then fine and then sweaty again. It lasted for like a week or so. I think it is the anastetic coming out. Kelly
  2. Hello and welcome!! Push that Protein and keep it first!! That is what will keep you feeling satisfied the longest. Don't drink with your meals and wait 30-60 minutes before drinking after a meal!! We are all cheering you on. Keep us posted on your progress!! Kelly
  3. I am a type 2 diabetic and losing weight is THE ONLY WAY to make this type of diabetes better!! I lost 55lbs pre-op and within one week of having my surgery stopped taking my daily dose of 1,000 mg of Metformin. I am COMPLETLY in remission and my blood sugars remain in the high 80's to low 90's daily! Hope this helps! Kelly :D :D
  4. LOOKIN' GOOD!!! Keep it up! Kelly
  5. I eat according to my plan. It calls for 1/2 three times a day I don't really finish all of it and it is around 2-3 oz of meat depending on what type of meat it is, I can eat more beef than chicken for some reason. I can NEVER finish a whole scrambled egg either! It is so weird. I mainy eat meat at mealtimes, but when I have Snacks, I have veggies or fruit. I can't seem to do Protein with veggie and or fruit, I get too full. I think at 4 weeks I was doing about 1/4 c at a time. Hope this helps. Oh, I also am 11 weeks out as of MOnday! Kelly
  6. Every food is required to have the NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION listed on it packaging. Look for it on the back of the pack, can or whatever you take it out of. The serving size, calories, fat, carbs and Protein should be listed. That is where the information comes from. Kelly
  7. Yes, that test does take a while to get back. I think it was like 2 weeks. It is crazy long!! Don't worry, it will all work out. Each day is another day closer for you. Hugs, Kelly
  8. uggg apple. I am sorry. I guess that is why we are not suppose to eat that stuff. it swells BIG TIME!!! Sorry!! Feel better. Kelly
  9. My dr. told me NOT to submerge into Water until my seri-strips came off. NO baths or swimming, but showers were fine. Maybe you should ask your dr. Hope this helps! Kelly
  10. Isn't it funny how much each dr. and plan varies?? I too have Kaiser in N. California. I did not have to do a liquid diet, but was told to lose 25lbs. They give you a pre-op diet in a binder. I followed it and lost 55lbs. I did not HAVE TO, but I chose to. My Kaiser is AGAISNT Protein drinks and discourages them totally. I just think it is so crazy how every plan and dr and nut has different ideas. Kelly
  11. I didn't say it to be mean, I said it to make you realize that what you are giving up on is YOURSELF!! How silly to do such a thing. You have come so far and to just stop now is non-sense. That is all! Kelly
  12. That is so great and exciting!! I too am going to see my family in NOvember for my b-day and Thanksgiving. The last time they saw me I was 270lbs. I hope to be at goal by then, only 20 more to go!! Kelly
  13. I have not had any nausea or throwing up. I have been losing my hair tho. I started losing it about week 3. It is not scary amounts, just like 20 strands everytime I wash and brush my hair. I have really thick hair and it is not noticeable at all. Kelly
  14. I too have a desk job and had my surgery on Monday and went back the following Monday. I think if you don't have any complications, 10 days is pleanty time!! I was tired because I became severly anemic, but I was fine. Kelly
  15. My first egg was scarmbled very softly with a little shredded cheese and I was so shocked that I could only eat about 1/2 of it at 4 weeks out. I am 11 weeks out now and STILL can not finish an entire egg with cheese. I can do a whole egg without cheese. I also can eat 1 1/2 boiled eggs. WEIRD!! Good luck! Kelly
  16. You look awesome!! Good job. Kelly
  17. Dr Im assisted with mine!! How cool. We were operated on by the same people!! They ARE AWESOME!! Kelly
  18. What type of surgery did you have? I had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy What was the reason you had the surgery? Obesity, High blood pressure, diabetes. What was your chief complaint that resulted in the surgery? Obesity, High blood pressure, diabetes. How long were you suffering from the chief complaint? Since about the age of 9. I have lost and regained the same 100lbs 4 times in the last 15 years. Was the surgery elective or medically necessary? Elective What treatments or diagnostic tests were done prior to surgery/ Blood chemistries, urinalysis, EKG, Upper Endoscopy, Upper G.I. Were there any preoperative instructions? No food/drink after 10 pm the night before surgery and I was made to lose 25lbs pre-op. Were there any preoperative issues or complaints? No What was the outcome of the surgery? I was sleeved 11 weeks ago and have lost 40lbs and 95lbs overall. Was there a post operative visit? If so, how long post op? Yes. I had first follow-up at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, then once a year for life. Were there any post operative complications? None Was there any additional follow-up that has or will take place? Labs every 6 months.
  19. i would love to answer any questions you may have!! I am 11 weeks out this past monday and love my sleeve. inbox me or ask your questions here. you will get responses! Kelly
  20. Kaiser IS VERY STRICT and they tell you that up front! If you gain they don't like that. They don't want to operate on people that are not serious. And now you are just going to give up?? That is why they do what they do, they don't want to operate on you and then have you say, OH WELL, I quit!! I am glad that I had the most strict of surgeons at Kaiser. He kicked my ass into gear. I would not be where I am today if it weren't for him! Kelly
  21. Kristie, I think after you get all of the bad carbs out of your system, you will find that you really don't want them anymore. That is how I feel. I was sleeved 5/9 and have not had any bad carbs at all. I actually did a 5 month pre-op diet and ate very low carb before then also. I have not had bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes,Cookies, cake, pizza, etc.....and I really don't want it either. My body is free of that nasty stuff and the thought never even enters my mind. I think the longer we are away from it, the more we can stay away....it IS an addiction.!! Give it some time and I bet you will find that you won't want it either. Hugs, Kelly
  22. I agree about them taking great care of you in the hospital! Also about nobody having complications after surgery. I think it has a lot to do with the skilled hands that operate on you. Kaiser Richmond is ranked 3rd in the NATION for bariatric surgery!!! That is OUTSTANDING!!! Considering all of the bariatric surgery centers in the nation. Kaiser Richmond also educates you to the hilt and if you don't comply, you don't get surgery!! MLD, who was your surgeon? Kelly
  23. Good for you.. Those are great NSV's!! keep it up! Kelly
  24. You must think of it this way......where will you be this time next year on your birthday???? Give up stuff now and you will reap the benefits later. Next year, you will be able to eat normally, just smaller portions. You will be able to have a few drinks if that is your passion. You will be much much smaller and you will look awesome!! Don't be sad, be happy and Happiest Birthday to you!! Kelly
  25. Soft calories are soft liquidy foods in essence. These caloric liquids or soft foods increase the onset of hunger too soon before the next meal. Yogurt, ice cream, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, Soups, etc. They don't stay in our stomachs long and should be avoided after the full-liquid stage as much as possible. We should focus on more solid forms of Protein. Hope this helps! Kelly
