Waking Up Choking
In the past few months, about once a month I wake up chocking and gasping for air. I am under a great deal of stress due to my mom having a stroke and work stuff. I have never experianced this before -- from what I have checked on the web it points to sleep apnea, however I have no issues with sleep. Also went to the doctor about this when it first happened and I did poorly on the respiratory test and she prescribed me an inhaler - but I discontinued because I didn't find it helpful. I know my weight may be a factor -- I have my last 3 month insurance required nutrition meeting this week - finally. Its really scary to wake up gasping for air and choking like that and was curious if anyone else ever had this? Thanks

Psych evaluation time frame?
I already had a shrink so for this it was 20 minutes. No test. That MMPI test is not accurate -- its used for a lot of other things as well. Usually your bariatric doctor will have a list of doctors for the pysch eval.

Juarez Mexico
http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2011/01/wounded-man-slain-at-clinic-in-juarez.html Just do some research............... I asked someone today and he wouldn't go anywhere near Mexico, but he said Tijuana is "safer" then any of the other options.

Federal BCBS of VA
I am about to go through this now. I have my letter from pysch and intermal med doctor. I am almost done with the 3 months of class requirement. I also don't smoke or had any substance abuse. My paperwork should be going forth second week of May. What surgeon are you using?

Juarez Mexico
do a little googling, you will see it is one of the most dangerous cities in the world and it is. Also go to www.ice.gov - and put in Ciudad Juarez in the search results. Although I am no advocate for Mexico - the girls and guys here have had a lot of success with Tijuana and Mexicali. Tijuana is more touristy then any of them. Good Luck and Be Safe.

Anybody Watch Ruby?
notsochubbybritneyspears replied to notsochubbybritneyspears's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AYeah that trainer situation was bad. I think she needs a lot of psych help -- she seems to get it, but I am thinking not for her. She is a lovely person and I would love to see her happy. She just seems like someone everyone should be friends with. The response about the money -- sooooo true. She has a house in Savannah and Los Angeles -- interesting.

So pissed and discouraged by Blue Cross
Which Blue Cross do you have? I have the federal and I only have 3 months. Maybe your doctors office can help you? I would defintely fight it.

acrylic nails?
I had emergency surgery for my kidney and my nails were on..................... My thoughts are first ask your hospital, second if they can control it with the polish/acrylic/gel on in an emergency I don't think its an issue I could be wrong.

What to say on psych evaluation?
I have depression and anxiety issues and was cleared. They want to make sure you understand what you are doing and to make sure you are not suicidal.

VSG Experience Vs. Other Surgery Experiences
I never had the tube with gallbladder

VSG Experience Vs. Other Surgery Experiences
Interesting you posted this, because I had my consult today and my surgeon said the sleeve will be similar to the gallbladder just an extra day. He said the major complaint he gets is nausea. Which they will treat. So, I was happy to hear it was like the gallbladder. I had mine out in 2000 and don't miss it.

Consult Done, I'm on my way
Had my consult and I love my surgeon - he is fantastic! I love all the office staff as well. So, BCBS Federal tagged on a new requirement that StacyS had mentioned but I wasn't told when I called. 3 month medically supervised diet crap. Which delays me to June to get surgery. My advice when you call your insurance companies, talk to at least 3 different people to see what they are telling you. I was told old requirements. Sigh.......oh well I am just happy to be on my way to better and healthier me.

Soda Question
notsochubbybritneyspears replied to notsochubbybritneyspears's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AWhen I talked to them on the phone I don't have to do a 3 month supervised diet -- I had to have a bunch of forms filled out prior to my consult. They are only requiring a pysch eval, regular doc eval and 2 years showing my weight. You are the first Federal BCBS that had to have a 3 month supervised diet I have seen. I have my consult Thursday. I am group code 104 is that helps.
