  1. My insurance is with Cigna, and they were good. The holdup I had---for about 2 extra weeks was paperwork not being submitted from my surgeon's office. That had to be faxed. It all worked out fine but I was denied coverage from Cigna-----that letter jolted me, and it was an oversight from the surgeon's office with one missing document. Once I have my surgery----3 weeks after all was approved----I'll speak with someone about the snafus. I had been forewarned by another patient! And Cigna was just okay-----one call I got someone quite terrible and the second call was a wonderfully efficient person. Follow-up both, I say! Good luck to you!
  2. Congratulations to you! I have less than 2 weeks until my surgery, and posts like yours are so encouraging. You sound like a very smart person who only helps those of us following your progress!
  3. go to your doctor every 25 days and it will shave one month off! I did that and it worked.
  4. My surgery is in two weeks. I wish I had told NO one but a couple of people, although honesty is the best policy! Those who aren't supportive will drag you down and then if you have to argue/explain/justify------it's stressful when one doesn't need any more stress. I won't put mine on FB at all. ever. promise.....
  5. You MUST keep writing to us! My surgery is April 8th and I wish I could be on that plane first class with you and get it over with! I just have to drive 15 miles away for mine-----yours is quite an undertaking! Good luck to you! Write more! Publish a book! You're terrific! I hope it is as easy as it all can be for you ( and, of course, for ME< too! )
  6. My PCP was on board and I had to check in with her for 6 months of required visits for Cigna. It all went very well! Good luck to you!
  7. One more thought: I personally think that elective surgery is an overwhelmong thought in itself. But, like you, trying to lose a great deal of weight, over and over, is about as overwhelming a task and thought as it gets! We're going to feel so much better! Stay busy------you're going to be so happy.
  8. that's great! Mine is the 8th of April and I cannot wait!
  9. I certainly never heard any medical person say that low thyroid would be a reason NOT to do the surgery----in my case it's a reason TO DO IT! Weird----do not like insurance requirements, etc. Never heard of a review board!
  10. Mine is April 8th. We'll establish NEW recipes and will be the envy of all of our friends. I say let's stay busy and just get it behind us and enjoy the benefits!
  11. I was denied briefly as one piece of paperwork hadn't been included in the final packet sent off to Cigna. I had a mini-stroke, but it was faxed and all was well in a couple of days. Sounds like you're normal----anxiously waiting! Good luck!
  12. I am soooooo sorry for you. My surgeon has NO pre-op diet whatsoever, just lie low the last couple of days on carbs. Hold your head up high, the worst is over, and press on with your good self!
  13. I think you're doing the right thing. I'm your same BMI, get the same comments, and know this is for ME. I've over the naysayers bigtime. think of that next airline flight and how comfortable it will be!
  14. Good luck to you! I'm amazed you're even writing today! My surgery is in 2 1/2 weeks so I'll watch for your updates! And thank you ahead of time!
  15. Wed., April 6th---finally!
  16. Love the way you tell it like it is! I plan to totally quit wine for a long, long time.......
  17. Good luck to you! wish mine were tomorrow, too!
  18. Our sleeve group is new and has just met 3 times---once/month. It is GREAT. It is the most encouraging, upbeat program. I'm awaiting my date and love this forum!
  19. wish I could be right there with you. think of it as something VERY interesting. You'll be fine. You've made it this far: I think the hardest part was deciding to actually do it. I'm awaiting my surgery date. You are fortunate! Just stay busy until then-----read up on all things nutritional, and go for it! Best of luck to you!
  20. I'm 60 and awaiting a date. But my insurance didn't cover the sleeve until last fall. I have to keep that in mind, but how I wish I could have done this 10 years ago when the pounds started packing on! Good luck to you, Marti!
  21. I'll likely get my surgery date on Tuesday. The time does go by fairly quickly, and you'll be amazed at how much you'll learn from this forum! Good luck to you!
  22. About to call mine. they'll know today. Fingers and toes crossed. Congrats!
  23. Congratulations to you! It sounds as if you're doing pretty well for someone who's had surgery of any kind! My insurance co has had my final paperwork for 2 weeks now. And so I wait-----I'm so anxious to have this done! Did you have to stay 2 nights at the hospital? I'm sending you all good wishes for a more comfortable day today!
  24. Let's see all the ones I've tried: I didn't decide to do this instantly----it's been a couple of years in the works I know it's what is best for ME. I'm working with a great group of doctors and nutritionists and have lots of counseling on the matter. I'm not getting younger. I want off of BP medicine. This is simply a helpful TOOL and the rest will be up to me. I'm fortunate to have a wonderful team helping me at this weightloss center. Do any of those help? I've used them all---over and over and over!
  25. Blow off the mean lady with dignity and grace. Simply smile, greet, and go on with your positive self. And congratulations to you!
