  1. I'm two weeks out and I am closer to 80-100oz than 64. I have no issues with fluids at all.
  2. They gave it to me in the hosp day after surgery and I couldnt handle it... a few days later I actually like it. I eat the Fage 0% plain, and it doesn't bother me that much. Then again, I am 13 days post op and just rotate cottage cheese, greek yogurt, and baby food meats. If it works, I just dont mess with it.
  3. I was on clears for 1 day, then fulls for two weeks, and will be on purees for two weeks, soft for four weeks, and released to anything after that. Only part that surprised me was that they considered refried Beans a "full". I havent tried that as it seems kind of gummy for this early. I agree with the OP about the standards and procedures, but also agree with Tiffy. Medicine is far more art than science in some cases, and I think you find surgeons would chafe at having it all too standardized.
  4. I have been using Celebrate Vitamins ENS shakes that have all the vitamins and 25g of protien all in one. The other nice thing is that it has 4g of Fiber in every shake. I had my sleeve on 3/9 and I have went every other day since I got home.
  5. But dude I am right there with ya... same feelings of regret and depression even though I have dropped 30# in the last three weeks between the pre-op diet and the sleeve. I was even sleeved the same day. Hope it gets better soon.
  6. How much of the soup? Does it go by the same 2oz rule as the yogurt, or can you have more?
  7. Constipated? Also, you are entering the time where strictures will develop, according to my doctor's literature.
  8. CBL replied to Redcobra's topic in The Guys’ Room
my nutrition manual says to go by VOLUME not WEIGHT. I have some 1 and 2 ounce cups that I fill with my food for now. But I am only 5 days out.
  9. My surgeon's instructions say to "take liquids to tolerance". I can pretty easily get 8oz of Water down in less than an hour. Protien shakes and yogurts are different story. I know I have seen similar questions... I am not damaging myself by consuming that much water am I? Also, turned a major corner today. Yesterday I was def feeling sorry for myself... got 8 hours of GOOD sleep and feel much better today.
  10. I know that this is what I need to get healthy and be here for my kids... but they are 4 and 3 mo old, and I am terrified of leaving them without a father. I'm not sure where all this emotion is coming from. Now that I am so close after a year of preparation, I am so scared all of a sudden. I know I shouldn't be but I can't stop crying. Thanks for all the kind words.
  11. Surgery is Wednesday, and I am sitting here writing my "just in-case" letters to my wife and kids. I am a wreck.
  12. I went through my class on 03/03, getting sleeved 03/09. My surgeon has us on modified full liquids on Day 2. That seems pretty aggressive to me. Think I am going to do the Celebrate Protein / Vitamin mixes the first week then see how it goes. Just not too sure about jumping right on the horse so quickly. What do you guys think?
  13. My surgeon has us do Protein shake for bfast, lunch, and 6oz lean meat w some leafy veggies for dinner. I am on day 8 and the last two days have been very hard to get through with no energy. Started at 290, already down to 278. Is there a corner to turn, or should I just count on being sluggish till mushies are over?
  14. I'm hoping my game will improve when my man tits and huge gut are gone... did yours?
  15. I'm not scheduled yet, but I am approved for the surgery. Expecting a date around March 1st. Any chance I will be cleared to play by May 1st, and even if I am cleared, is it a reasonable expectation that I will be able to do it? Thanks.
  16. I have been in the supervised weight loss program at my doctor for about 8 months. I have lost 32 lbs (down from 322) since I began. They had me on a lower carb diet than normal (180 per day) and I consistently ate less than that, but was never seriously told that it was a problem. I received approval from UHC yesterday morning (yay!) Then at lunch the "Bariatric Nurse Coordinator (who I have never met or spoken to) called me to let me know that they could not schedule me for surgery due to objections from the dieticians that I "will hurt myself due to non-compliance with the program to date" and "you drink soda which is not allowed after surgery". So, I ask what I have to do. She tells me that I have to schedule more visits with dieticians until they deem me ready for the surgery. No idea how long or how many visits this will take. Has this happened to anyone else? I was beyond furious as I have to drive 1.5 hrs each way to see the dieticians. I also couldn't vent my frustration at her as I sensed that if I did, I would just be waiting longer as punishment. I am very frustrated as the mid Feb date I was quoted was going to fit my wife and my own work schedules quite well. I just can't believe they did this to me with no warning whatsover.
  17. My dad had that after RNY and was told he wasn't getting enough protein in.
  18. Lou- Did you write a scientific letter with citations and references, or just a narrative with how you see it? I have been trying to write a scientific one, but it is getting to be a pain to assemble the 20 references I am up to.
  19. Lou - I am getting ready to appeal for BCBS MA for same reason. Can I get a copy of your appeal letter as a template? Thanks.
  20. 1lb = 3500 calories. 80lb * 3500cal = 280,000 cal. 280,000cal / 28 days = 10,000 calorie deficit PER day. I find it hard to believe (but not impossible, I guess) that you are running a 10,000 calorie per day deficit.
