  1. Fantastic! Great job.
  2. Things are going well. But I am wondering how long the blue dye remains in system? I am still urinating blue - I feel like a smurf! :thumbup1:
  3. Well, LuvMeBunches and I have our spot on the Loser's Bench. Doing good except for some bruising and pain in the largest incision. Thanks for all the prayers!!!!
  4. Heading to the surgery center in 5 minutes!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Arrive in Vegas tonight. Paperwork (gotta love HIPPA) and final pre-op exam tomorrow. Surgery 7:30am. On Wednesday. I am anxious, but VERY excited!!! Wish me luck - prayers are definitely appreciated.
  6. If your position was eliminated, are you eligible for COBRA? I believe the 65% COBRA coverage is still in effect. So, you may be able to pay the 35% of your premium and still have the surgery and any possible complications covered. You have 60 days from the end of your coverage to apply for COBRA.

ok ... I'll bite and ask how you know about that? I was told that the carbs (sugar) in milk was acceptable as long as we watch the other carbs we eat.
  8. Mine was very similiar. We ended up talking like old friends, instead of dr/patient. I found that mine had WLS 9 years ago - losing and keeping off 140 pounds. WOW!
  9. So happy for you. When you get there, save me a spot on the loser's bench. I'll be joining you on Wednesday!
  10. I was told not to use a straw. I believe it was to reduce air/gas in the tummy. However, I have seen many posts about post-sleevers using straws. So, do you or don't you? If you don't - what were you told were the impacts of using a straw? (I have been using them pre-op to avoid the protein powder smell.)
  11. Was this nutritionist familiar with WLS - specifically vertical sleeve? If not, I would suggest finding someone who is. The weightloss seems to be doing great for you, therefore, I wouldn't suggest a change. However, I would think you would have more energy. What is your treadmill routine? How much can you do & what intensity level before you get dizzy?
  12. I so know what you are going through. I fly out tomorrow night and my surgery is on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. I'm just trying to focus on all the good things coming for me!
  13. 40 pounds in 2 months sounds fantastic. I think the girls have given you some good advice above. Try not to stress so much - you are losing weight and people are noticing. (Of course, that's easy to say this side of the sleeve. I'm sure I'll be obesessing soon enough! :biggrin0:)
  14. I am being sleeved on Wednesday (1/27) and paying $10,600 in the US. So, your price sounds very reasonable. Besides the stories here on the boards, I know 3 people with the band. All 3 have had issues with swelling, vomitting, not being able to hold food down, etc. (One has had to have all the Fluid taken out for the past 5 months - so she paid for a surgery that is doing her no good.) While I only have 1 friend with a sleeve & 2 with a gastric by-pass, they've had no issues and very happy with their choice. So, out of the6 people I know with WLS, the only 3 with complications have been banders. So, it was a definite NO for me! Best of luck on your decision.
  15. I was told to limit my carbs to 40 per day, but that oatmeal & mashed potatoes are allowed - I just have to count them. Of course, this is coming from someone not sleeved and only "book smart" at this time. But, if you are feeling weak and not getting enough calories/protein in, I think it makes sense to try something.
  16. Your doctor or nutritionist should be able to tell you the amount to take. After your post-surgery labs (6 weeks out or so), they may have to adjust them a bit.
  17. Have you tried Kelloggs Protein H2O? It has 5g of protein & 6 carbs, but at this point, a little may be better than nothing. I actually LIKE the pink lemonade. In fact, I am sipping on some now.
  18. Thank goodness I'm not the only "odd" one out here! :lol0:
  19. If the denial was based only on the missing psy eval, there should be no problem with a quick appeal process. Just take deep breaths. I'm sure your doctor's office is used to the red tape and the process - they will help you out.
  20. :lol0: :001_tt2: :biggrin0: :lol0: :001_tt2: :crying: :biggrin0: :lol0: :001_tt2:  :biggrin0: :lol0: :001_tt2: :001_rolleyes: :biggrin0: I do know what you mean. Understand the limitations and move forward. I am also glad to know that there is removal of negative comments about surgeons since it helps me to be a better consumer. I value this board also - it's been great to get so many options, opinions, and thoughts of people who have had or are considering the surgery. Thanks!
  21. Sorry - My doctor just did this simple letter & attached all the records. Hopefully someone else out there has a different example. Best of luck!
  22. I love it!!!! It looks absolutely perfect for your face and complexion.
  23. Welcome to VST and congratulations on your date. I'm on the 27th & I totally relate to the pre-op diet part!!!!
  24. I have some of the same issues - I can between 5 - 7 pounds when my period is about to start. I also have HUGE cravings for sweets and chips/salsa. I hope my sleeve can help me work around it. The head I have to deal with, but at least my tummy won't be sending me signals as well.
  25. I've definitely had the headaches with sugar withdrawal. Tylenol may help with it, but it didn't help me much. Just keep plugging along. You are almost there!
