Momma's gonna have to get some new "BOOBS"
I will have everything done if I can.. I went from 305#'s to 175 (2 years in march) I'm 4'11. I'm a slow loser, But slow or not, every pound gone is a pound, I'll never see again. I can't imagine going this far, And not end up custom made...lol Scared to death tho...

Jello Shots Anyone?
Amazing thank you so much, as I can no longer take certain SR's, this has been quite a dilemma, as how to take regular meds, that are huge and need crushed. Thank you for sharing

Kill me now...
Count your blessings... lol I am the cook, here, Day after surgery business as usual...I'm not complaining, guess it would be cool if someone else cooked... I'm just so used to doing it, I miss food, (I think) I'm still not sure what to think of this life changing decision, I have made, the one thing I AM sure of, however.. is that it's permanent, thank god, 'cuz I'm a damn good cook! I'm 6 weeks out today, and It's so hard, a bite here, a foamie there, heart burn, nausea, cranky as hell, I'm ready to gargle gravel, just for some substance and something different, haha< happy with my choice?Yes, I'll be small soon, Hungry??? probably for the rest of my life... think I'll take up shopping,.but real hard to think of new jeans, with the smell of home made BBQ chicken burritos wafting thru the house, and me sitting here, thinking about a hot cup of chicken broth....ahhh, life.. it is good is it not???

Chocolate Milk
I just found Re-fuel by dairygold, it has 20 g's of protein, I've only seen it in chocolate, I cant drink a whole one but I use it as part of my meals thru out the day, I still cant eat more than a few tablespoons at a time, (I'm 6 weeks out) and I find it easier to drink something, so it being higher in calories doesn't bother me,

To those who are considering VGS
That was amazing, insightful, and inspiring. I am 6 weeks post op, and I thought almost all the same stuff,(I didn't send my potatoes back either.. lol) You will be just fine, The results are fantastic, the new way of thinking and eating, is quite frankly, a bitch, but when one is committed, to change, it is also a blessing! Nothing easy is worth having... Good luck in Ohio,I'll be thinking of you,

What Does it Feel Like?
Coffee... and dang I LOVED it B4>> can't stand it now... very odd, tastes like dookie and I don't ever finish it> I'm 1 month post op on wed, and I'm still mostly on liquids, cant seem to get anything substantial in< and I panic when I think about eating< so I decided to stay on mostly thin soups, or protein shakes, and see if that helps, Had the foamies once, don't want them again< My tummy talks all the time, I'm a hairdresser, and clients are like"you ok"?? LOL hopefully it settles soon, I also tried thin mashed potato's got about 2 tbl spoons in< that's when I had the foamies, and was miserable, losing like a maniac, but probably 'cuz I'm stinking starving, Haha> Such a learning process, huh??

Anybody else?
O yes me too, (3weeks yesterday) hicups, bubbles and nausea, I have about a 3 tiny bite max.

Does everyone have a drain after surgery?
I too have been very curious about the drain, I didn't have one, and went home the same day, 2weeks post op today, almost 30 pounds down, i am amazed..

PUREED
I boiled eggs, and had rotisserie chicken and used chicken broth to thin it, it was surprisingly tasty, so hard to come up with ideas... home made split pea has by far been my fave! 14 grams of protein(plus whatever from the bacon and chicken broth)per 1/4 cup, I find it hard to swallow, or have anything sit well if it's not liquid, tho. friday I get to start mushies, which doesn't seem to be much of a difference.
-
The count down!!!!!!!!
I get to start them Friday, not sure how exciting after purees... lol almost the same? Im sooo lost it isnt even funny. Luck girls

Piercings?
I have both my nipples pierced, and the nurse asked the anesthesiologist, and he said shouldn't be a problem, they taped everything else. my ears, wedding ring, good girl ring, everything. I would have took them out, had them 5 yrs now, but didn't have too. think it just depends on the comfort level of your team

Day After Surgery - Would Love Some Input
I'm 2 days post op, the gas pains are horrible, lots of walking, Dr. Said he made me super snug, (not sure what he meant) can start full liquids today, very tired, pain is tolerable, spasms suck tho. Just this morning can burp, and toot a little. Doesn't seem to help much, 2 tiny sips and feel bloated full, I hear it gets easier, sure hope so

5 days pre-op!
My day is the 16th, I haven't packed anything, I go home the same day< I read my surgeons, are the only guys in the "world" that send home same day..? Thank god for confidence, competence, AND skill!!!(Puget Sound Surgical Center) Dr. Landerholm will be doing my sleeve, Dr. Billing took my gallbladder out in Jan. I guess all 3 surgeons will be in there, they assist each other, I am wearing comfy clothes, to and from, and taking lip balm.. I am terrified, I really didnt think this day would ever get here, and didn't plan very well.I will go back the following morning for IV fluids, to insure hydration, and another check up, and be seen every week (i think he said) for the next 2 months,. SO I guess in a sense I will have a 'staycation' O and I have to take my cpap machine, and will take a hair tie... Good luck to us all, what a hell of a road trip we are embarking on huh????

Here it is Day 6 yalll! WOW this is really going fast!!!
My date is next wed... so nervous! The Pre op diet was basically The Atkins diet, not to bad, felt hungry all the time, missed fruit, Ive only lost One pound, in 2 weeks, but many inches.. odd?? I've lost almost 65 pounds since starting this whole process, but was still mad about one pound...(I did have my clothes on, cute boots and a jacket.. O the things I tell myself, lol) This whole thing from start to finish has been about a year, to the date actually, I'm very lucky to have incredible insurance, (yay Boeing!) It feels like its been forever tho, like Ive weighted my whole life, which I have.

Surgery story
Thank you, that was very helpful

A Weighting Game
I've been fat my whole life, my whole family is big, well not my mom, so I know there is a little me in here somewhere! I'm tired of fighting, the daily struggle, the depression, the hopelessness, I can do this alone no longer, I'm finally getting help. I carry it well, but lets be honest, at 5'ft, and at one point 300 pounds, how exactly did I carry it at all? I'm luckier than most, I suppose.. no diabetes, no hypertension, nothing major except pretty severe sleep apnea, as if that alone isn't a major health hazard. My Dr. added oxygen to my cpap, a yr or so ago, since, when I sleep my level drops to around 70, sometimes lower. That alone was killing me... so many risks associated with oxygen deprivation, to say the least. I am beautiful, as I am, But, I have always wanted to be beautiful, and tiny... and healthy, I am sad, and I feel terribly selfish, that I am having this done, when my 2 daughters, are quite heavy as well. I had hoped that with the struggle they see me go through, they would have made some better choices, but sadly, no. Both are binge eaters, bored eaters, and sneaky eaters. I haven't made munching easy for them, but seems that they find a way. I hope I can help, in some way more. I don't want them to weight as long as I have before getting healthy, and living happy, as my struggles have been a work in process, so is my story...... To Be Cont...

My sleeve: 3/15/11
My surgery is wed the 16th!!!! I am soooo excited, yet terrified at the same time, thank you to everyone for all the info, I'm new here, and so very confused, I didnt have to do a liquid diet, just an Atkins type... I"m terribly hungry, grumpy, and cant seem to quit the coffee. I'm raising daughters, and thought nothing could scare me(lol) but.... o man I read a post that mentioned CLEAR protein drinks, post op, I bought the ones from costco, just to get me started, are those going to be ok? Thank you in advance for any advice, I'm over loaded at this point
