  1. http://www.cornellwe...gastrectomy.pdf loved this! Read all or scroll down to the foods...
  2. My stomach is something I'd rather forget and leave behind. The thought of keeping it for memories is just a little to dark for me to even think about.
  3. If you are still on clears and liquids yes. I was the same way. You aren't eating anything solid so there's nothing solid to come out. Liquids in liquids out.
  4. I agree with Rootman...ketosis. I went through it too. You can buy the ketostix if you are unsure.
  5. ME TOO! I have a huge shiner on my face and one under my chin! I have fantastic skin and now I have a crazy cyclops going on!
  6. I have an Ipod Tough and bought a great nutrition tracker that I can take with me everywhere. If you have an IPhone or any "smartphone" you can look for a nutrition tracker app. It works great for me! Good Luck =)
  7. Me too, I had Dr. Aceves and he left mine open. I had surgery on 1-21-11 and its completely closed and actually shrinking! I've been putting Mederma on it religiously to help it fade better. P.S. Dr. Aceves is awesome! I had absolutely no pain with any part of my surgery and even though I'm tattooed, I'm a big wimp with needles, stitches, surgery, etc. !!! hahaha
  8. mine was due the day of my surgery. Didn't come till 3 days after surgery and was a little lighter. Then it came like clock work this month to the exact day it was supposed to come last month.
  9. :oBe careful with MiraLAX. I almost died from it last Thursday...no joke. My throat closed from the main ingredient that I didn't know I was allergic to. Ask your doctor even if it's something as simple as an OTC med.
  10. GOOD JOB! I also went through my pantry and got rid of a ton of stuff! I did this in my first week of coming home from Mexicali as well.
  11. Susanne, I agree! That's why I was worried about Peanut Butter on mushies! Be careful with the hives, my hubby's swift reaction saved me. I haven't done any coffee yet. Ironically the yahoo next to me drank 8 large redbulls in 10 minutes. His heart was racing.
  12. So I've never been allergic to any medications my entire life. I've tried tons of laxatives and stool softeners before. Even as a dieting fad. So I haven't had a BM in a couple of days and decided what the heck, I've read on the forums to try MiraLAX. I take a half cap full to try. I thought the whole cap looked HUGE. Within 5 minutes I started to get shortness of breath and within 25 minutes my body was broke out in welted hives burning and itching BAD! My breaths were getting worse and DH told me to swallow a Benedryl and put my clothes on. We packed up our 4 y/o Thor and headed to Kaiser ER. They immediately put me on IV and administered an EPI pen right above my heart. Now if you don't know what this is...it's a powerful adrenaline shot they hold with 2 raised hands and powerfully jab into you. Like in that movie Pulp Fiction when the chick O.D.'s!!!!!!! My throat was closing! I thought I was going to die! They then put liquid Zantac and nausea meds in my IV. I felt better so I had Fuzzy (DH) take Thor home...poor guy. My blood pressure was super low as well. They kept me for 6 hours. Needless to say at 3AM I was dischargerd sent home with Predisone, Benedryl, Zantac, and an extra EPI pen just incase I need to self administer another shot....UGH! So my point is, sometimes it sounds so easy to hear/read that taking this OTC drug as simple as a stool softner is o.k. I almost learned a hard lesson with my life. Thanks to Fuzzy's fast thinking. The RN's said him giving me that Benedryl saved me some time. I didn't even want to go! I thought it would pass! I now know after I came home and read the back of the MiraLAX that I'm allergic to "Polyethylene Glycol" and if you don't know.......please folks find out first!
  13. Our day of eating is identical! I wanted to know the same thing! so BUMP =)
  14. Thanks everyone, being that I'm lactose intolerent now I thought I might have some weird reaction to peanut butter too. I look at my new belly like a babies...you know no nuts for a year...hahaha...I tried it in a smoothie with the peanut butter...whoa nellie, FILLING
  15. So, I'm struggling to get the calories in. I just can't eat that much food. A couple of bites and I'm done. I've hit a stall this past week. I think due in part of me not getting in the sufficent calorie intake. I get 40 grams from the Isopure (1 daily) and a Protein shake late afternoon another 50 grams....but the calories are not adding up. I started with mushies today. Had 3 bites of an omlette and a hard boiled egg for lunch with a spoon of hummus. So, is Peanut Butter o.k. to eat 3 weeks out on mushies? it has some calories and protein and low in sugar??? Help
  16. @ Foxbins....ME TOO! hahahaha...I'll be there with the protein shake to! After I got stern on the phone she was better and did email me the vitamin and supplement info. I've been taking "OptiSource" and a liquid B12 with folic acid.
  17. Dr. Aceves is AWESOME! Good luck tomorrow. The sleeping aid really worked..AHAHHA! Keep us posted!
  18. I've heard the same thing! I work in S.S.F. so I might try them, I heard they were nicer. Regardless, they are obligated to do my aftercare. I did some legal eagle homework on that! Did you go through Kaiser? How was the experience?
  19. Hi everyone, I've been off the grid for a week or so. I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I've finally moved to mushies and can definately feel restriction. I have become lactose intolerant because milk definately goes down queeesy. For the past few days I've been struggling with Protein. It's been making me gag before I even start it. So, I'm hoping to get it in with regular food. I don't mind the Isopure too much and still drink one 20 0Z'r a day....far from my days of a 40 OZ'r of beer (j/k). I'm down 20 pounds and have been at a stall since last Sat. I'm not too concerned and know that I need to get calories in....the other thing I'm struggling with. I can only take a couple of bites of anything and get stuffed fast. I think if I eat more often it might break my stall. So, I went back to work a week after surgery. I needed to get a release. Made my appt. at Kaiser with my primary care guy. He had no clue what a sleeve gastrectomy was and had to look it up on his computer...needless to say, I'll be switching Dr.s to someone more qualified for the job. I requested aftercare to be done at their Richmond Bariatric center. I got a call from the dietican there. I explained to her what I had done and where I went. She was SUPER UNFRIENDLY! I explained that for 5 years I've been trying to get it done at Kaiser with no avail. I said I needed a 3 month check and she said they don't do that. I also explained that Dr. Aceves recommended some follow up 3 months post op. (esophogus testing, leak testing) she was still a B_ _ _ H about it. I finally told her "look, I'm paying for my insurance and I don't need you to make any decisions on what it covers at this point...and BTW, they do have doctors in Mexico as well"..really sternly...and she started to get a little nicer. She sent me Kaisers post op diet which was different in the first stage than Dr. A. I'm glad I stuck to what Dr. A gave me. I think I will go back to Dr. A for follow up. I had a wonderful experience with him. Needless to say, I've been doing AWESOME. Just some days I feel cold and know I need to get nutients in me. Some days I've been super tired and I drink some tea and perk right back up. I've had absolutely no pain throughout this whole experience...even in the hospital. I do need to take smaller bites that last longer though. Anyhooo, CHEERS EVERYONE!
  20. HA HA HA =) Kris, I know Dr. Campos was so cute..His wife was just about to pop their first baby out the weekend I was there and I had to ask him how old he was..33!!!! Sheila, I'm telling you! can drink the liquids botomless. I'm sure it won't last long though. I'm 7 days clear so far and Dr. Aceves said stay in it for 10 days. I'm dying to have a vanilla Protein shake and some milk!
  21. I too went to Dr. Aceves on the 21st and had mine done. I'm 7 days out. I feel like I can drink a ton of liquids...I even told my husband earlier that I wonder if I even had a sleeve!!! AHHAAH...I can't wait to see what my new tummy will tolerate!
  22. The only thing I can think of would be vitamin D? Not sure.
