    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

I had revision from Lap band to sleeve on the 8th. My procedure was done all at once, removal of Lap band and sleeve. My surgeon said there was a lot of scar tissue that he removed and he was pleased with the surgery. I saw the results of my contrast swallow (leak test) and it said I had dilated gastric fundus most likely related to the band. I'm 4 days post op and since yesterday I've been able to drink 3 protein drinks a day plus get all my water in. A friend of mine had surgery the same day and she can barely get the water down. I'm so afraid I will be that one person that this doesn't work for. Anyone have experience with the revision?
  2. So, I haven't been on here in over a month. So much has happened. This hasn't turned out to be the year I thought it would be and to be honest I was scared to log in to see how much more people have lost than I have. They tell me I'm in my sweet spot, but I don't think I am. 35 lbs in 5 months just isn't want I had in mind:(

  3. been a while since i logged on, life has been busy!

  4. 2 weeks and 2 days until I officially graduate with my RN. 2011 is gonna be a great year..sooo excited for all that lies ahead:

    Post surgery

I have to admit I'm a little jealous, I haven't lost any weight since the surgery. I plan to start exercising this week, maybe that will help.

    Post surgery

In response to Woodslass, I finally had a bowel movement yesterday and it was nothing but Water, but boy was there alot of it. I thought I would feel relieved but it only helped minimally. I wouldn't worry about having a bowel movement, your drinking so much liquids its bound to happen soon enough. Also, my throat is swollen..maybe from the tube? but it seems worst in the morning and this morning was just awful.
  7. learned a very valuable lesson today, never leave home without pain meds

oh ya and my doctor actually discouraged the gummy bear vitamins because theyre sticky and can stick to the upper stomach. I bought flinstones and they seem to do the trick.

    Post surgery

HI all, i'm glad to hear that I'm not alone in all this. Its very reassuring to hear some of y'all talking about the things that I'm going through. I am supposed to be on clear liquids for 7 days, then full liquids for another 7 days, then soft food until 4 weeks postop. I have done my best to only have clear liquids, but I am dying for some substance. I ate a lowfat yogurt yesterday and it took me a whole hour cuz I ate it so slow. I had no pain whatsoever while eating the yogurt and it went down just fine so I ate another yogurt today. Today was a really rough day, I'm 3 days postop and finally decided to get out of the house. I showered and went to them all for a pedicure and of course I didn't take pain meds since I was gonna drive, needless to say that was a big mistake. I was shaking and crying on the way home cuz I was in so much pain. These gas pains haven't gotten any better and it actually seems like walking makes it worse. My husband said he was gonna make me a protein shake tonight, he's so good at mixing flavors and I really don't mind the taste of the protein powder, it doesn't bother me. I know im supposed to be on clear liquids but I just don't think its physically possible, plus if I take my time and go slow, I think I'll be okay. Does anyone else feel thirsty all the time? I thought it was because I was dehydrated but I've been drinking water and gatorade like crazy, but if I go more than like 30 minutes without drinking my mouth gets real dry.

    5 stages of grief

I'm 3 days post op and it seems like everyday gets harder. I am dying for something substantial to eat, anything other than liquids. I did eat a yogurt yesterday, i ate so slow it took me a whole hour. I felt like I wanted to cry when I went to the mall today and could smell all the food. Usually my husband and I would go out to dinner on a Friday night, but since there's nothing I can eat I don't think we'll be doing that. I am still having alot of gas pressure in my stomach, walking actually seems to make it worst. I'm going back to work on Tuesday, sure hope I'm better by then.
  11. surgery went great today. the surgeon ran a little behind so i had to wait for a long time, but it turned out perfect. I actually feel really good, just gonna rest at home and let my husband take care of me:)

  12. Going grocery shopping on Sunday to buy my liquids. Starting to get nervous and excited!

    April 2011 Bandsters

I see alot of people talking about their 3-week liquid diet before surgery. I'm glad I don't have to do that, but I do have to do the low carb for 2 weeks prior..it is definitely challenging, I miss sugar so much. They had a potluck at work today and I could smell allt he good food. I just ate my chicken and salad in silence. It's like a drug addiction, you have to seriously learn to get over your cravings. I'm so ready for surgery..April 5th!! Woo hoo, I can't wait. I'm hoping to buy a bathing suit by the end of the summer.
  14. Started the low-carb diet on Tuesday. Doing okay, I guess. I sure do miss sugar tho!

April 5th!!! Seriously sooo excited, I'm counting down the days
  16. april 5th surgery date...I have to do the low-carb Atkins diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I am super excited and am literally counting down the days!!!
  17. I am having my surgery April 5, 2011 at True Results in Austin, TX. The self-pay price is $9,900 which includes a year of post-op visits and fills. My insurance absolutely will not cover bariatric surgery so I am taking out loans. Care credit approved me for $3,500 but at a ridiculous APR of 26%..I refuse to pay that. My credit union approved me for $5,000 at 13.9%, which I'm willing to pay. I just paid off my credit cards so I am thinking that I will re-apply with care credit in a few weeks when that hits my credit report and maybe they will give me more money at a lower interest rate. Does anyone else have any suggestions for places or companies that finance medical expenses? I am just trying to get the lowest interest rate to keep my payments reasonably low. I do have student loans, mortgage, 2 car payments, etc. so I want to keep my payment under control. Any advice any one has is greatly appreciated.

    Self Pay Loan Options

Thanks for all the great ideas and options. I am happy to announce my credit union approved me for the full amount at a much lower interest rate than care credit and my payment is only gonna be about $230/mo, so I am very pleased with that! Surgery date is april 5th, can't wait!!! Thanks again everybody

    Self Pay Loan Options

My husband and I also spent less on our house than we were approved for, but unfortunately, we just bought our house 9 months ago, the house was appraised for more than what we paid, but not much. I don't think a home equity loan is an option. My parents don't want anymore debt in their name so I won't even consider asking, my car is already in their name. I'm hoping care credit will lower my APR in a few weeks when I contact them and hopefully they will see that my credit score went up since I paid my credit cards off.
