  1. From what I've been told, this is excellent advice. Seek your Doc's advice......
  2. Best wishes. Hope all turns out ok.
  3. Your Dos sounds like a wise person. Most folks don't understand that the 'band' is only a tool. Still requires willpower.
  4. Everything is ok in moderation. Check ( sign up ) fitday.com. You can find out cals, carbs, etc. for most any food. I sometimes have 4 oz. cooked pasta with sauce. Goes down easy & not that many cals.
  5. I've been lead to believe that protein will cause constipation. You should discuss with Doc.
  6. What do your doctor(s) say?
  7. This is a great Post. Now all I have to do is try it.
  8. Great advice. If it feels good, do it.
  9. Sorry to read of your physical problem. I agree that plain old Water doesn't hack it in your case. The point I was trying to make is that counting Soup as water taken in is ludicrous. And, anything mixed w/water has cals. Just wanted to make people aware that the cals. in gatorade, coffee, tea, etc. should be counted. I'm a golfer who plays by the rules. Can u tell? Lol.....That's all folks.
  10. I suggest u check fitday.com or myfitnesspal.com. One should check facts before making a statement.
  11. Everything one mixes with water has cals. Ice tea, coffee, soup, etc. Water is the only thing with ZERO cals. I'm not trying to be a purist, but water is water.
  12. At the first sign of 'slimming', I usually excuse my self and take a short walk, maybe towards the rest room. Walking seems to help get the 'slime' thru. The hot liquid idea also helps relax the 'band' area relax.
  13. When they say water, they mean water. If u r going to cut corners, u may as well give up, 'cause u r not ready to take losing weight seriously.
  14. fitday.com for on-line
  15. If u r still losing weight, stay where u r. Fill only if static or gaining. Listen 2 your body. My Pop use to say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I'm losing approx 1/2 # per week & haven't had a fill in 6 mos.
  16. It's all about calories folks. 1 c/pasta has a lot more cals. than 1c/asparagus. Guidline should be cals., not size.
  17. If u say he's a well known bariatric surgeon, then u should trust him. I'm sure he's not going to do anything that will be harmful. Believe me, this venture takes a lot of patience. Trust your doctor as mush as u trust yourself. If u don't trust yourself, it's time to get another dr.
  18. Agree w/vickyd. Protein drink ( mix powder w/milk ) for b'fast; Greek yogurt as a dessert at night.
  19. Fish is never a problem. Have 'stuck' problems w/ chicken breast, stringy beef, pork. Mild problems w/scrambled eggs. Over easy ok. No problems with most veggies if not stringy. Salads ok too. You'll just have to experiment. Trick?: sip something hot ( coffee, etc) just before eating. Seems to relax muscles around 'band.' Best wishes.....
  20. My experience is that the more, the more cals u can get away with. Initially, on a 1200 +/- cals/day, I was losing 2#/week. Now that I'm near my goal, I'm losing approx. 1/2 # per week. Remember, muscle is a lot harder to lose than is fat. Don't get to wrapped up in weight loose as long as u don't gain.

  22. I too eat a lot more than recommended & have lost 77#. However, I do use fitday.com to track caleries, etc. And, I use a food scale religiously. I.e. keep main course foods to 4-6 oz., eat & love salads ( 1 cup ). One must change their mind set & one will be successful.
