1. Getting ready to go...is it really here?
2. I was approved by insurance before my consultation with the surgeon. The consult is normally two weeks before surgery but I pushed mine out to 5 weeks. I started losing weight after my consult so about 5 weeks now and I have lost 31 lbs so far. wow...that's the first time I figured how long it has taken me to lose the 31 lbs...now that I have said it, it seems like alot. Surgery is Monday...I'm excited.
3. How funny is it that the mascot name was cougars...:lol0:
4. Is this anything like the old question "how much wood would a woodchuck chuck"? :drum:
5. Someone that has more time on their hands than I do should put together a master list like the Jewels of June did.
6. How about..."next time I need a little discouraging word, I'll know to come to you." don't forget to roll your eyes like that too...lol
7. Wow...congrats on the great results. btw, don't forget to update your ticker...lol
8. I kind of view this the way Dave Ramsey talks about convincing your partner to get out of debt. He talks about you hearing this guy on the radio and maybe reading his book and then going to your spouse and "beating the over the head with Dave Ramsey" with the Dave says this and Dave says that. You have to educate them on the whole process and make sure they understand why you are doing this.
9. I'm afraid I can't help you in department yet. Since you are ahead of me. You might have a little more luck finding advise on some of the main boards. Besides, I'm sure several people on the boards are looking forward to hearing from you again. I see you are down 29 lbs <high five>
10. I have had some funerals (Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen tonight). I start my 2 week diet tomorrow. I'm on a 3 shakes and one meal a day plan too. I'm getting pretty excited about getting this going, especially since I have been able to lose almost 20 lbs before the pre-op diet. :whoo: :woot:
11. Mine is July 11th. And I can't wait. I'm so excited. I start preop diet on Monday. I guess part of the reason I'm so excited is that I have already lost almost 20 lbs. Just on my pre preop diet. . Let's get this liquid thing going so I can see how much I can lose before surgery.

I have heard through going to support group meeting that it is very normal to "morn" food. being that you are only 5 days post-op, I think what you are feeling is normal and something that I don't look forward to going through. I also think that the feeling you get by taking food to work and the like will be replaced by the feeling you will get from the positive attention your weight loss will bring. I lost 70 lbs doing weight watchers and when I was going through that, I had many people at work that I didn't really have any relationship with give me very nice comments and ask me about how I was losing the weight. I can only assume it will be similar after my surgery. Another person on here described her feelings after surgery as "buyers remorse" but I think that too will pass. good luck to you and remember, just because can't eat everything you used to, doesn't mean you can't cook it.
13. I have been very upfront with people on my plans to have surgery. In fact, in some cases, I have come out and told them unsolicited. It seems like most people are supportive and in many cases know someone who has had the lapband (which has confirmed my decision to get the sleeve many times over). My sister was probably the most reluctant person I have told. She has always been the largest person of all my brothers and sisters (there are eight of us). I am not too far behind her. She and her husband lost over 100 lbs a couple of years ago using Weight Watchers. Seeing their success, my wife and I joined WW and had really good results. I lost about 70 lbs in about 6 months. Two years later I have gained every bit of that weight back and my sister has regained a good portion of her weight. Yet she is still the one to caution me on WLS. smh :nonod:
14. My registration is July 1st and expect I will have to pay something. My wife is having her EGD the day after my surgery and will likely have to pay the $122 dollars like I did.
15. Congrats...you rock..:waytogo:
16. more the merrier...you just have to have your surgery in July. I wonder what August will be..:confused2:
17. she is having hers later. she isn't on here as much as I am. but you never know were she is lerking . lol.
18. It's like the people sleeved in June are the Jewels of June...we're the July Firecrackers I'm surrounded by beautiful women all the time with my wife and two daughters. (my wife is on these boards...I have to be careful )
19. what about the July guys...:noidea:
20. I think I will comment from two different perspectives...if I may.

First from the man perspective. Maybe he is scared...maybe he's worried that once you lose the weight, you won't want to be with him any more. or you start getting more attention from other guys and start looking at the greener pasture...so to speak. I would think that he would do well with some reassurance from you that even after you lose weight, even after you start getting the added attention from others, that you still love him and that will not change.

Ok perspective 2. I'll call this the Man perspective #2 or the child perspective (since there is not a whole lot of difference sometimes). Have you ever had a child act out because they are wanting attention? and any attention, even bad attention is better than no attention in their eyes. Maybe, in his eyes, you have been spending so much time and attention leading up to this surgery that he is feeling left out. Maybe a night out, just the two of you, once a week would help him appreciate the time you spend together more.

Anyway, just a couple of thoughts from a guy who has no idea what you or your husband are going through. Take them for what they are worth. Just remember, they were free.
21. July 11th is my date too. I have already started decreasing the intake and using the shakes. I can't wait to get this thing going. so excited...for now.
22. Yeah, every encounter I've had with Dr. O has been good. From the beginning after the siminar he stayed as long as he was needed to answer questions. We went to the support group meeting last month and he was there and was the last to leave. He just seems to go out of his way to make you feel comfortable. I am having my surgery at Baptist East. I can hardly wait. I was telling my wife about the OnQ pump that they told me about at my appointment and how I may be sent home with it. She did say that she wouldn't think I'd need that since I have such a high pain tollerance. I guess it's true, I had back surgery a couple of years ago and was off the pain meds after a week. Anywho, I hope you are steadily making progress. Try not to rush back to work.
23. you should come to the support group at Baptist East on the 16th. last month they gave away samples of a Vitamin powder that you mix with your Water. that may be a good option for you.
24. Wow...sorry you are having a hard time. Especially since I am seeing the same doctor.. I was talking to Dr O on Thursday and he mentioned that he had just done a sleeve on someone that was going to be staying another day or so...I was afraid it was you since you hadn't shown back up on the boards yet. I hope you feel better fast and are able to enjoy the journey again.
