  1. I was banded Feb 28th. Very underwhelming results....only lost 30 lbs. Anyhoo my port happens to be in the wrong spot and although they can still access it ...it qualifies as needing revision thru my insurance . My doc has offered to add plication while doing the revision on the port. I would have to pay out of pocket for some but way cheaper than adding it seperately. Seems like that might be the best option since the band doesnt seem to be working for me and insurance won't cover another option for two years. Anyone with banded plication feel like sharing ur results?
  2. HEY!! Banded by Dr. Bruce in cary Feb 28th...how's it going so far?
  3. Can anyone recommend a lapband friendly OBGYN?
  4. Anyone know of a good lapband friendly OBGYN in Raleigh?
  5. I am about 3.5 months post op and having a hard time finding my stride. Somedays its so easy then others its like I do not have a band. I only have about 4cc's in my 10cc band... my doc is a big fan of the SLOOOOOooooooowwwww fills once a month. I feel like I am using all my willpower right now to have small losses which is fine, but I want to know some tips from all you veterans on how to stay the course, what I can look forward to to keep myself motivated. Anyone start out slow then hit their stride? I know this journey is different for everyone I just need a little encouragement and advice. What is your secret to success? How many fills did it take for you to get to the "not hungry for 4-5 hr" stage? Was there a time when you were finally feeling the band kick in and got over the mental worry about failing? Thanks for your help!
  6. I'll follow!!!! Here is mine WWW.bandfulbliss.com

  8. I just want my blessed aleeve.....that was the o.ly help pre lapband
  9. I need some advice about what meds help for cramps. Lb office says nothing but tylenol....which does not do crap. They told me to ask obgyn so I did they tell me ibprophen.....which surgeon says nono.....meanwhile I am frustrated and in agony...I can't go through this every month :'( anyone have a miracle cure?
  10. Andrea thank u so much for ur reply. It definitely made me feel encouraged to tough it out. I glad I can come here and be honest.....none of my friends or family have the band ... it can feel very isolating at times

  12. Once you reach restriction is it easier? Does the weight loss speed up? I have my second fill next week and am still struggling on my own sheer willpower....I just want the lapband to keep up its end of the bargain. I keep reading all these posts about hang on till u.get the sweet spot after restriction but no one ever really says what happens once u get there....
  13. Awesome!!! I am so happy to hear things are much different with just that one fill. I am only at 2.5cc so far and I dont feel much different yet. Cant wait for my restriction!!!!!
  14. Thank u both hope I can make it to lucky #3
  15. Hey Feb banders. I was banded Feb 28th down 24 lbs since ....its taking every ounce of will power not to hog it up....only one fill so far. I hope to get some relief soon. Go for fill #2 5/11 and it can't come soon enough. Anyone else feel similar?
  16. I am a week out from my first fill. I know it takes time to feel restriction, but does the hunger eventually subside?? I am using all my willpower to stick to things but its hard to battle the constant feeling like this is no different from before. I just need a little pep talk from all of you veteran bandsters. I hate this constant fear of what if the band doesnt change anything for me? I am working out eating better using that willpower ... so I AM doing my part... I am just waiting for the band to keep up its end of the bargain. I guess I just want to know that it DOES get better with more fills. So far I am down 24 lbs from my highest, which is awesome.... but I am starving... I need some relief soon.
  17. I just started one also www.bandfulbliss.blogspot.com
  18. Get a second opinion. I have a friend this happened to...she had a surgery to repair the hernia...then was able to be filled again to restriction. It's not a loss cause just a hurdle.
  19. YES!!! I had surgery 2/28 and I felt depressed for a good week. Took a week off work and went back exactly 1 week the surgery... started feeling more level by end of Day 7 into day 8. Now its pretty much business as usual. Hang in there!
  20. Thank you!!! You guys have really made me feel better. I really appreciate being able to come here and get such great support and advice. I did end up going back to work today and it wasn't so bad, just like ripping off a bandaid =). I did leave a little early I was just so drained by 3pm. My coworkers were on their best behavior. I am doing better emotionally too. I didnt realize how much of an emotional connection I have with food.... (I do have a therapist just dont have an appointment again until end of march)... definitely something I am working on. I still have to believe this was/is the right choice for me. I appreciate each and every one of your replies. Its so great to know I am not alone.
  21. Just got banded Feb 28th. I am down almost 15 lbs from surgery feeling very weak. Still not used to my band. I just feel lost right now like maybe I made a poor choice. How long did it take for you to feel back to somwhat normal again? I finally weened myself off the pain meds, slept horrible last night without them but I have to go back to work tomorrow and felt I needed to try and clear my head. Band feels extra tight today.... is it possible that your stomach wells in your sleep? thanks for any word of wisdom, I just need to know that there is an end to the way I am feeling right now.
  22. We are surgery twins. I get banded on 2/28 as well!!!! Congrats.
  23. My surgeon also tried to talk me into the gastric... until he got to know me now he feels comfortable with the band. I think the concern is if you have alot of weight to lose that with the gastric you will lose more initially and with the band you have to be more compliant with behavior modification. I think the band is smarter in the long run. Bottom line we need to learn to eat healthier and be more active no matter what method is chosen. With gastric after a couple years there is no more "dumping" syndrome thats the time when alot of those patients start regaining and the stomach starts to stretch again. The band will not change shape you just have to be dedicated to keep up with the fills.
