  1. My band is good! I think it does its job! I can only eat small (and I mean small amounts of food at a time). about 2-3 oz of food at each meal. It holds me over for about 3-4 hours and I am not snackin inbetween meals. I have my protein shakes in between meals and my water. I chew chew chew, and take my time eating...just as instructed. I love my band! Although the begining was really tough for me! And I just got my first fill and trying to adjust yet again to my body and signs...but I LOVE MY BAND!
  2. I used to cheer! I miss it so much! After High School I didn't go to any college that had cheering b/c I was always the Chubby Cheerleader! But I loved it!!!! I did it for years, even pop warner cheering then in high school! Congrats to you..Jennibee that is AWESOME!!!! I will cheer you on! Keep me posted on how that goes! I wish my daughter would cheer! She is not into sports which makes me really sad! But my son is all about baseball (i played that too when I was young). So at least I have somthing to keep me going! Oh and he plays soccer! My daughter is a Girl Scout in which I am the Cookie mom this year, and I can't even eat any of the cookies! BUMMER!!! Well good luck! Keep me updated, let me know how you do!
  3. OH i get it now! Thank you so much for explaining! I haven't experience that yet! And hope I never do! Although would that be the same as regurgitating? I just have alot of saliva, gurgling, and noises in the back of my throat! (people told me its sliming)? Not sure what that is either???? If some one wants to explain that one! LOL...
  4. So what does it mean? PB? I was thinking it meant people us peanut butter or something to get things unstuck! I had no idea! LOL
  5. My one question I hear alot of people talking about...PBing? What is it and why do you do it!
  6. So far today has been a wonderful day! Even though its only 9 am... I woke up to the phone buzzing to let me know the children had no school due to the Snow Storm. Jumped in the shower to get ready for work, then got the call from my boss "NO work for me today"! Wow..great! I finished getting ready and decided to paint my nails and then "try to do my toenails" Its always a struggle (my daughter usually does it for me). But Guess What!!!! I was able to paint them by myself! I could reach my piggies without my belly boobs in the way! It might seem like "YEAH BIG DEAL", but its a huge deal to me! Must be all the sits ups I am doing!!!! Well just thought I would share my happiness!
  7. Welcome Nick~ I also read your comment on the other topic I started (Are you open about your band)! Good luck on your journey! If you blog, my blog is down below you can follow my journey!
  8. I offered my opinion (and I was honest) was not trying to be mean at all...and the girl was mad at me for what I said! I come to the conclusion that I am not going to offer my opinion anymore (if I have nothing "nice" to say)! I am 6 weeks out of surgery! By no means is any part of this surgery "Easy"!!! I am going with the flow! I come on here if I need advise or just want to share something that really no one else understands! (Non Banders) No one is perfect and some will slip with their diet! But if you have WLS; why would you want to eat Fast food or Junk, when this tool is supposed to help you on your journey to weight loss! Why would you do that??? And to come on to a Weight Loss Website and tell us that you ate a Double Cheeseburger and Fries and can't figure out why you can't lose weight!!!! That would be someone going to Weight Watchers and say "I am not following the program and For some reason I CAN'T lose Weight"! I can't support them, nor would I have anything nice to say! Ok i could go on and on...but I will just stop there! LOL. Nice topic starter TAN!!!
  9. Hi Tracy, I must agree, I am in MA and the snow is crazy this year! I have another day off today cause of the Snow & Ice that is starting! Last week I shoveled and shoveled and shoveled! Its a great workout!!!
  10. I like that you asked this question for a few reasons. It made me think! The day I was going in for surgery I was laying in the waiting room with my hubby and mom! My mom asked "Mandy, are you sure this is what you want"? Do you know for a minute I doubted myself....and really what if I was making a mistake! I tell you the first few days after surgery I felt like I made a huge mistake! But now I feel so good about the decision for LapBand Surgery I would recommend it to anyone who struggles the way I did!... And what would have happend if I got to the hopsital, juat about to go in for surgery and changed my mind! Just walk out of there the way I went in and I would have enjoy a 3 week vaca! LOL I don't regret it! I just wish I was ready (mentally) to do this sooner! Good luck on your journey
  11. Hello, I had my first fill last Thursday (3cc's). I can definately feel a difference with a few bites of my meal instead of the full 4 oz's. Thats no problem....the problem is; I eat or drink and I feel like its just sitting in the back of my throat...it makes these weird gurggling noises, I don't know what to do! I don't know if this is "Normal" or if the fill was maybe too much too soon! Has anyone else had this happen? If so what did you do? Thanks a bunch!!
  12. Welcome all you LBT addicts...tell us a bit about yourself! LOL.
  13. Hi Disneymom, I have been going to weight watchers for over a year now...It really helped me before my surgery to help me get on track and lose the 20 lbs I was required! I still attend weight watchers, although I don't follow the program. Weird, yes I know! But there is 4 of us in my family who go...and I am the only one who has had WLS. I enjoy going with them and I weigh in at the same time, same day, with the same outfit on...and I like to get the little incentives, stickers and such, for the instant gratification, I am doing a good job! My leader at weight watchers knows I had surgery, but only her, because the first week I lost 10 lbs (a bit drastic). But the people at weight watchers are my support group. I can't eat all the food they want me to eat, even if I tried. I would be throwing up. I am lucky to get in a full cup of food in a day! I can only eat about 2-3 oz at a time. My advice to you, is speak with your Dr. or Nutritionist and see what they say! Weight Watchers is a great program...and the new points plus program is great! ( I am supposed to eat 34 points a day and I am at 227lbs and 29 yrs old). I can not eat that much food in one day! Good luck I hope all works out,
  14. I was the same way! And sometimes still! I am introducing new foods..I tried a pear one day I felt like I was having a heart attack! The gas right after surgery does take a while to go away! The gas x strips only worked for me at bedtime. Good luck! It will eventually get better! Just hang in there! Its completely normal!
  15. Wow, that is interesting! THANKS
  16. So just left Dr's office not too long ago and today was my first fill since surgery! I was really hoping they would just leave things the way they were b/c I am doing good! I have lost 23 lbs since surgery 12/6 and I feel as though I have good restriction. Well the Dr. told me he was going to put in 3 cc's b/c people usually get 5 cc's for their 1st fill! But he will start me low b/c I seem to be doing great! I laid on the bed and honestly I could feel the Fluid filling up the band and sqeezing me tight! I am feeling a bit uncomfortable! Is this normal? Back to liquids today and tomorrow...but can have soft dinner tomorrow night! I think it just takes longer for my body to adjust to these changes... They wanted to see me back in 4 weeks...I asked for 6! Give me time to adjust to this new adjustment!!! OK...Thanks for listening! Have a good day!
  17. Hi my name is Mandy, And I am a LBT addict! I know I have a serious problem..LOL...but not sure how to control it! But I am addicted (I go on at work too)!!!
  18. What is this test? What does it consist of?
  19. could you send me your reciepe. that sounds yummy I had always eaten breakfast before I left for work around 6:30am well just cause thats what you do. Lately I have been making a lite version of quiche on weekends so it's breakfast for the week.. this way I can throw a slice of it in a container and take it with me to work and eat it around 8am or 9am when I am actually hungry
  20. I really like this topic! But then again I never really thought about "why" I was fat! I was always a chubby kid, chubby teen (I was the "fat" cheerleader). But really it all started to get out of control when I got pregnant with my daughter at the age 18. I was in my first year of community college, finally getting fit down to 135. Then found out I was pregnant and the cravings were crazy, I lived at taco bell! (could be why my daughter LOVES tacos). Anyways, I gained about 50 lbs (I was now at 185-190) with my daughter! Crazy, I know! But I was even on birth control when I got pregnant with her! After my daughter was born I had gone on the birth control SHOT! Well...I knew I would gain weight but did not expect another 30-40 lb weight gain. Now with a new baby, I was also working crazy hours and not much time for work outs. Followed Weight Watchers off and on..lose 20 lbs, hit a block, get frustrated and give up....try again...and the same thing. 5 years later I was told to come off the Birth control shot and try the patch because it could cause infertility if used for long periods of time. Yeah I tried the patch and GUESS WHAT!!!! I got pregnant with my son. LOL...I was fertile mertyle. My son is now soon to be 6 years and I am married and comfortable with my life, and just kept gaining weight! I have a desk job now and eat out alot. I am also idagnosed with Depression. My whole family (the women on my mother's side) are ALL over weight. My father is over weight and a few members of his family! My father also had a major inpact on the emotional issues I have with myself that I was never good enough. But that is a WHOLE other topic...but is also part of why I am Fat!!! I am just glad that with all the medical problems that run in my family on both sides (heart attacks (at young ages 40-50's), strokes my father had 3 stroke before the age of 40, My aunt had a stroke in her early 30's....high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, cholestrol problems, blood clots, asthma, and so much more...) I am just glad I decided to take care of the problem before it got so much more out of control. Take care,

  22. Yesterday was the 1st day I overate and ate too fast! And exactly what you are describing is exactly what I felt. I ate my lunch in about 15 minutes, it was a 1/2 cup of food...which I am still not used to eating that yet! But I realized when it was too late...I could feel the food sitting at the back of my throat...PRAYING noot to throw up! ( I was at work ). I told myself that I chewed chewed chewed, but ate too fast and too much! I Won't Do that again! The feeling was awful! Good Luck!
  23. Hello, I am down 42 lbs, and everyone says "OMG you look great" Wow you have lost weight! Wow this wow that! Even my husband tells me I look great, and I am so beautiful and I am getting thinner! Now, I know I am losing weight, getting thinner and feeling good! But I honestly DON'T see it! I can feel it in my clothes, they are getting too big! I see it in my pics, but when I look in the mirror I still see that fat chick and she is always staring back at me! Everyone always says "we ourselves are the last to see it"! It takes us longer to adjust than anyone else around us! Well I wonder why....? We have looked at ourselves for so long as the fat kid, fat girl, fat mother, fat friend, (and any other role you put yourself in)..and its hard to adjust and get used to the NEW us! I am really happy you posted that! It makes you think hard about how you see yourself and how others see you! Good luck on you journey!
