Right now is the healing time, not the losing weight time.... I have been there myself about two weeks after my banding date, when I could eat real food and the weight loss slowed down, it was hard to realize that you are still swollen and healing..... You will start losing again just give it time. I used to weigh myself morning, noon and night....... I drove myself crazy. Now, I only weigh myself on a certain day of the week. ( to help my own sanity) GOOD LUCK

Congrats on the wonderful success, I was banded Dec. 14,2010 and have lost 35.9 pounds so far.... But I still am hesitant to go buy clothes, as I still see myself as the size I was not the size I am. My husband told me yesterday that I look like I'm drowning in my old clothes...which felt very good to hear, so I guess I'll try to go buy a few things. How fast did y'all lose that much weight? I'm wondering if this will slow down cause I don't want to waste money on too many new outfits. Thanks for any info y'all can give me

I personally harassed my insurance company and had an approval within 2 weeks and that included time for them to deny me once.... GOOD LUCK Don't give up call at least twice a day and make sure you write down who you talk to and what time and day you called.

I had the same doubt after attending my first seminar, but what helped me make this life changing decision is, the band is reversible and if god forbid any complications arise it can be adjusted. Also, there is no manipulation of your intestines or other digestive organs. It's just a band on your stomach. Now having said all that, it is a tool, you still have to do some work to be successful with weight loss. The band has been successful for me so far, since my surgery on Dec. 14,2010 I have lost 20.9 lbs for a total of 29.8 so far since I started this journey in late October. But trust your decision weigh all the odds and research every possible option and you will make the best decision for your personal situation. Best of Luck!

I had the exact same feeling, your body is still healing and you are still swollen. I had surgery on Dec.14,2010 and just now can really sleep on my right side and not feel that strange sensation. It will get better.... GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!

I had surgery on Dec. 14,2010 and was back at work on Dec.17,2010 so from Tuesday to Friday then had the weekend off. I have a desk job which helped alot but the moving around made me feel so much better, I didn't suffer with gas pains or really much pain at all. Wishing you all the best in you journey.

I also have BCBS and after being told that my doctor's office had not submitted all the required paperwork and then being told I was denied because of lack of info on comorbidities and then appealing and finally being approved..... it is all worth it in the end. Call your insurance company everyday and sometimes twice a day, make sure you write down names of who you talk to and get specifics on what they want. Through this whole process I learned that they don't really look at what is in front of them and different people will give you different answers. I had surgery on Dec 14 and I was so uncomfortable with the gas pain, for a moment I regretted having the surgery. But it will pass, I promise it gets so much better. By friday I went to work for half a day and the day after i got home from the hospital, I drove my kids to school. Just walk as much as possible cause it really does help. Hope you feel better soon

Thanks for the kind words, I guess I just need to patient and get through the first few days, as for pain relief my sweet husband went and find me some tylenol suppositories so hopefully that will help and not make me want to yak. But again thanks for the support it nice to know that there are other people in the boat with me .

I to had surgery yesterday and I am horribly im horribly uncomfortable, I can't swallow the liquid pain meds because they made me vomit and nauseated. So I;m trying to stick it out through the night and hopefully my doctor will call me in some really small pills... Also the gas pains are the worst. The bad part is at one point today I asked myself what did I do? I pray its the pain making me feel like that .... I really hope it will get better in a few days

My insurance requires that I stay for a certain number of hours, or they will not pay... Also, my doctor stated that because I have sleep apnea he is keeping me over night. Although I am a little disappointed about having to be away from my children over night, I am grateful for the surgery, so I will do anything they tell me too...LOL GOOD LUCK BTW I check in tomorrow at 7:30 am so HAPPY BAND DAY TO ME !!!!!

Can anyone help? All my info was submitted to my insurance on Nov.4,2010, then the following week we received a letter stating that they wanted results of my sleep study, the results and a letter from my GP stating that I have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, 3 month doctor followed weight loss and medical necessity was resubmitted on Nov. 18,2010. Now, I called the insurance company to make sure they received the fax and that it was sent to the correct dept. cause I truly believe they "lose or misplace" your paperwork on purpose, and the person I spoke to indicated that she personally sent it to the review dept.. The following morning I called just to check the status and some twit tells me I MET all the medical requirements and have been APPROVED, so I immediately contacted my doctor's office to tell them the GOOD news, they contacted the insurance company and was told to call back this week before thanksgiving to get the approval code. Well imagine my surprise when I was contacted by my doctor's office stating the insurance company informed them this morning that I was DENIED!!!! When I called to find out they told me it looks like I have 2 different folders and maybe they didn't have all my info on the first look, so I asked a few more questions, then she tells me it looks like they don't have proof of 2 co-morbities, when she just told me she has the letter my doctor sent her and the medical transcript from my sleep study. I AM SO CONFUSED,and to top it off, I have been on my pre-op diet since Friday and my surgery is scheduled for Dec.6th. If any one has any advise or help please respond. Thanks in advance.

Update : the denial letter sent to my surgeon states that they have no info on my co morbidities and proof of my doctor followed diet. In the letter my GP sent them it states my high blood pressure plus they have the progress notes stating I'm on medication for it and second they have the sleep study interpretation report that states I have sleep apnea. I am so lucky to have the insurance rep at my doctor's office, she told me today that she deals with this all the time and she will get it straight, and my GP is correcting the 1 progress note that he forgot to included the diet and exercise part. I am stressed out by all this, I have gone through the process of telling my family ( some do not approve) and I just have to pray and put this in God's hands. Hopefully my prayers will be answered. Thanks for the posts, sometimes you just need to be reassured that the end result is worth all the trials and tribulations you have to go through. Will update soon.

So excited to find this forum, my date is set for Dec. 6th, and I have been on pre op diet for 2 days. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! Ready for my new banded life. Is any one else in the south Louisiana area?
