19 YO - Will I need Reconstructive Surgery?
That depends. How long you've been carrying the extra weight and how fast you lose it. Your youth should work on your side. Good luck

I'm really confused. How does this thing work?
Rainydayz...maybe, just maybe lapband isn't for you. You can poke holes in it all you want but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. You're not willing to rake the risk...that's fine. Perhaps one of the other WLS is for you...or perhaps none at all. Perhaps you could give willpower another try. For me, I love my band somedays and others it frustrates me. I can't argue with the success I've had. Perhaps go to a seminar, do a consultation, find a surgeon you can trust. Personally I think it belittles what we've all done and the effort we've put into our banded weightloss to call it snake oil...just my 2£. Feel free to give me change back.

To Fill or Not to Fill
MarcyLoo, As for your question about ovulation and hormonal fluctuations, I believe they do affect the band. For example, I time my fills after my menstral cycle so that I have 4 weeks before my next cycle to figure out if the fill was enough. I believe that was the question you were asking...I hope my answer was helpful and I wish you continued success.

isopure
I love Isopure the big bottles. I have 1/2 that I will sip on during the day, then down the other half post workout with my trainer. I keep several kinds of proteins around as I get bored easily

No longer overfilled
Wow! A year is a long time. I was overfilled for 2 weeks and it was incredibly painful...but the weightless was good. My suggestion is that you follow your original rules. First the protein (3 oz), then your veggies, them starches as needed. Not to exceed 1cup...but every surgeon is different. Get your water in, that help fire up your metabolism. Get your exercise in and Just because you can eat more...don't allow yourself to. Just get up and walk away from the table. Glad to hear you are no longer overfilled!

In India...Band Too Tight...Acid Reflux...Need Helpful Ideas
Thanks everyone for replying, your support and your suggestions. I am still in Bangalore and I'm flying out tomorrow, an earlier than planned departure. I did get a Dr and was examined. The whole lapband thing here is not very well known. None the less they stopped my vomitting and have not got the acid reflux under control. They left a nurse with me in my hotel room over night which was nice. I'm feeling so much better. The lady Dr was kind enough to contact a bariatric surgeon and discussed with them my lapband and what they had prescribed to ensure it wouldn't do any damage. This morning I was able to eat, and keep down a small bowl of oatmeal with skim milk. I am on soft foods all day and the hotel has been instructed to craft no spice alternatives for me for the duration of my stay. I'm very impressed with the care I received in Bangalore...seriously, I was so worried that I would slip the band or something...and now I feel good. Not great...maybe that will be tomorrow Thanks again everyone.

In India...Band Too Tight...Acid Reflux...Need Helpful Ideas
Thanks all...I did seek medical advice and received some medications. I'm booked to leave to go back to the UK tomorrow. I'm not ready for the long haul home to Canada, but at least in the UK the food is more bland and there are doctors knowledgable on the lapband. I'll be calling my fill nurses as soon as their office opens up

In India...Band Too Tight...Acid Reflux...Need Helpful Ideas
Thanks all...I considered the boost idea...and have been looking for bland soft foods...of which there are not many. I think what I'm going to do is cut the trip short (hopefully not career suicide) and come home...I've been throwing up all night and I think I'm thowing up bits of blood....not good by any stretch I think it's time to go home and get an unfill and let me heal as I know I am sooooo very swollen

In India...Band Too Tight...Acid Reflux...Need Helpful Ideas
Ok...so a month ago I posted about acid reflux. I went in, got an unfill and felt fine. Now, 1 month later, I'm in India for work. My band is excruciatingly tight again. I think it's a combination of stress, air travel, Water retention. I am eating very little and the acid is unbelievable. I did bring Zantac with me...it's not helping I'm not sleeping, eating is a struggle...I feel like crap. Not much mild food here...I've thought, go to liquids, but then...there's water, or juices with acid in them. I don't want to drink milk as I don't trust anything uncooked here. If I was in the UK I'd go to a pharmacy and buy some boost...but alas...I'm no where near there Anyone have any suggestions to help me through to the 15 April when I go home...and I will go into the Dr to be checked out and likely have an unfill until this calms down Please....

Doc sais no fill if loosing weight...
I'm with Eelfi. You should be able to go to your fill dr and say "I'm losing weight and that's great, however, I'm eating my allotted amount of food (some Drs it 1 cup other it's 3 oz protien then veggies then starches...whatever your plan is) and I'm hungry after 1,2, or3 hours (whichever it is) and I'm making it through on sheet willpower...I'm hanging on for dear life here (call it whiteknuckling) if they don't give you a fill after that I would think twice about continuing there. Having said all that...I respect why they are so conservative. I recently wa fille too much and had awful acid reflux and had to go for a slight un-fill. There are what they call fill junkies" out there and perhaps they are simply testing you a bit. Go back and assert yourself...let us know how that goes. *disclaimer: fill junkies is something I heard from my fill nurse and is not intended to describe impart, or in full anyone on this forum

Increased Acid in Stomach
Thanks reverie...when you put it that way...it makes it very clear what needs to be done. Never thought of that aspect.

Increased Acid in Stomach
I got a call back from the nurses. They too suggested a slight unfill...just waiting to hear back on a timeslot..hope they don't take out too much

Increased Acid in Stomach
Thanks you guys...I was hoping to not need an unfill...but possibly just a small one wouldn't be so bad. I love the restriction...I'm satisfied sooner for longer...don't want to give that up...but do not need this acid reflux..yuck. Anything that I can do until I get in for that unfill?

Increased Acid in Stomach
So I've tried searching hte forums and haven't seen exactly what I'm looking for so I shall post my question: I've now had my 2nd fill 2 weeks ago. I tolerate liquids and foods, however, I find that no matter what I'm eating, my stomach feels like its producing more acid and it's coming up my throat a bit. It's so uncomfortable. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas about how to manage this?

Which diet is better?
I've just been reading up on the Paleo diet and its not a no veggies or fruits diet. It's high in fat, moderate in animal protein and low to moderate in carbohydrates. Calorie counting is not encouraged, neither is portion control....although with Lapband patients I would say that portion control is a factor.

Excersise after a fill
Thanks for the update Fluffy...based on your surgeons liquids only instructions, that does make sense. For me, I was on soft food the rest of the day of the fill and then back to normal the next day. Every surgeon really is different, aren't they? I'm sure you're looking forward to getting back to the exercise as, for myself, I really find the weight dropping off when I consistetly go to the gym. Keep up the good fight!

Excersise after a fill
Hi fluffy. I had a .4 cc fill yesterday. I didn't work out yesterday, bit did workout hard with my trainer today. I feel great and had no problems. I do feel my band is tighter after a hard workout. I just have a Protein shake and ride it out...usually see a nice loss when I'm consistent I say...give it a try, listen to your body and you should be ok. I'd love to hear what your surgeon comes back with.

Am I too tight???
Are you gulping or slowly sipping your liquid? I thoughtlessly gulped down water today instead if slowly sipping it and was like a volcano erupting
-
Air planes?
I fly all the time. If your NAND tightens up A bit, just sit back and enjoy the flight

Travel advice wanted
I travel all the tome for work and find I lose more when I travel. I have an eggwhite omlette with veggies for breakfast. Lunch is some sort of meat and veggie and the same with dinner. Hydrate as much as you can. If your band feels tight inflight...sit back, sip water and enjoy the flight.

Frustrated!
Good to hearfrlm you Brian. I find when I don't drink my whey shakes or water everything stops...sometimes the shakes get a bit much...too sweet etc. Any thoughts on that?
