  1. I did the unflavored Protein powder with sugar free green tea with a splash of OJ.. it is really good... I just celebrated my 1yr anniversary~ I think I'm going to jump start my weight loss with liquids for 1 wk.... I've gotten kinda slack the past few months.... I haven't lost any weight in a while, but I haven't gained any either!!.. last fill was in april... I don't feel like I need another fill, I just need to eat the right things...   2. here's my reply....I'm 8 months out and I don't remember...so it couldn't have been that bad!! All I know is....IT WAS WORTH ANY AMOUNT OF PAIN!!! I hope these replys don't scare you... just tell the recovery nurse and I'm sure they can give you something for the pain...

Hello...last Friday night I fell over my dog that was laying on the ground next to me and broke my pinky and ring fingers...the pain is terrible and the Dr. gave me Hydrocodone....but it upsets my stomach and I can't eat anything...does anybody take Advil or Motrin...my WS dr. said to stay away from them due to the damage that it does to your stomach lining.... just wondering if I could take them short term??? thanks, BamaMom (Amy)

    Cindy... I would love to take motrin..but my dr. said I shouldn't take... I used to take it for bad cramps...but he said to stop...don't know why, something about damage to the stomach lining... I might just try to eat some toast b4 I take the Hydrocodone and see if that helps.... thanks

    Jump Start

    I agree... add some high protein snacks...peanut butter and apples is always my go to. I keep frozen cooked shrimp onhand and just pop a few in the microwave. The nurse that does my fills told me that if I was exercising everyday... I needed to eat a snack in the am and the afternoon. I've always heard...and I don't know if it's true...but to break a plateau...cheat for 1 meal...eat whatever you want...then when you go back to eating the prescribed way, I think it kinda shocks your system...it's worth a try!!     Sudden lethargy

    I agree with janB23.... I was also very tired. Told the nurse at a recent fill and she got the dr. to order a blood panel. When it came back and my iron was almost non-existent....Starting taking Iron supplements in addition to my multivitiam, calicum and b-complex... I have much more energy and work out twice a day 2 days a week and run/jog/walk 3 miles everyday. you should definately tell your doc or nurse!! BamaMom

    I used unflavored that I got an GNC.. Mixed it with diet green tea and a splash of OJ... I got really tired of Choc. vanilla and strawberry...this mixture sounds odd, but it kinda has a tropical taste...BamaMom
  9. I was banded in Nov...not a very high BMI to begin with (just medical issues). Lost 35 lbs since surgery. another 15 pre-op. Only 11 lbs to go to meet my doctor's goal for me.. but I want to lose more. I have kicked up my exercise and started journaling with FitnessPal on my phone. I hope that helps me start losing again. Still I'm happy with the results...BamaMom

    Had a fill Tuesday, so taking it easy today... breakfast- Protein drink - unflavored powder mixed with diet green tea and a splash of oj Lunch-refried black Beans with a little shredded chicken and guacamole Dinner-oatmeal or FF cream of chick Soup Snack- Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich
  11. Hey Slm2007.. I was banded in Nov.. and I eat steak about once a wk... You really do have to be careful with size of the bite and still chew, chew, chew... Grilled chicken does me in... If I do the grilling and don't overcook it...it's fine, but my hubby tends to overcook everything he puts on the grill. I made Chicken k-bobs last night and they were great... I rarely have to resort to canned tuna to get my protein in. I do eat alot of 93% lean ground beef with spag. sauce over 1% cottage cheese...that's my favorite!! that and really lean BBQ..(pork loin in crock pot with vinegar based bbq sauce)..just a few bites is all it takes...but it sure does taste good. It's normal to be concerned, but everybody's band is different!! Good luck BamaMom~ Amy

    Hungry

    licked one fry is too funny!! I remember those first few weeks... it was really hard....let me assure you, it does get easier!!! That time before your first fill is terrible. I got banded Nov. 3rd and had my first fill Dec. 23. and those were 6 wks of Bandster Hell!! I was starving.... I remember chewing a fry and spitting it out.... I learned later that "chewing and spitting" is a eating disorder, so I stopped doing that!!! but it did feel good to chew something!~ good luck!! Bamamom

    Coffee

    I have 1 cup of regular and 1 cup of decaf every morning.... I still use a little bit of 1/2 and 1/2 and splenda. I hasn't bothered me. I just make sure to account for the 1/2 and 1/2 in my daily calories and drink extra water for the caffeine. My doc said I should use coffeemate, but it's so artificial that I decided to go with a real product and just make sure I count it in my calories.
  14. My husband and I went to a great burger place yesterday and we split a burger (he got pimento cheese covered waffle fries too). I was only able to eat 1/2 of a half a burger. I could tell that was enough when I started hiccupping...usually 3 signals not to eat anymore. If I would have taken another bite,,,I would have been stuck. I ate very slowly and enjoyed all 3 bites I had!!!! I did eat a few fried pickles and they were awesome!! I believe in moderation. I have great restriction and still losing weight at about 1-2 lbs a week!! Leave off the bun if you can't tolerate bread... and eat real slow. ground beef is one thing that I can always eat...either in patty form or as taco meat..(sometimes I just eat a few spoons fulls of taco meat with 1/2 cup of black beans) Good Luck and remember to eat slow and chew, chew, chew!!   15. Sliming is not like throwing up... it kinda just slides right back up your throat...and you're left wondering where did all of this slime come from. It's really pretty gross!!! Don't attempt to eat anything in the car...because you will tend to eat it too fast, even if it's healthy....I did it once and was lucky that I had an empty cup in the car, because when the slime comes...it doesn't stop until what is stuck comes out or goes down. Good Luck... but I'm sure the slime will come soon enough...I knew that eating too fast was going to be trouble for me...I'd worked in restaurants for many yrs and it was just habit to eat fast...because if you didn't eat fast and it got busy...you wouldn't get to eat at all.. My Dr. told me that I would work it out once I got banded...and he was right... I have slowed down alot, especially now that I have good restriction, because I don't like to Slime!! BamaMom- Amy

    POST-OP AND HUNGRY

    You definately will be hungry!! It's unavoidable....it's the worst thing ever!! but it does get better. Drink lots of water and try to find a good low-fat, but hearty soup that will fill you up. I know you are tired of drinking shakes and soups. In fact I started eating refried black beans and scrambled eggs before I was supposed to... and nothing bad happened. Run it by your Dr. and let him know that you need more to eat and maybe he'll progress you to mushies early. Before I got my first fill... I felt like I was hungry all the time!! even more so than before I got the band!! I had to wait a full 6 wks before I got my first fill. That helped alot. I've had my 3rd fill now and I rolling right along. Stick with it and listen to you Dr. best of luck~~ BamaMom (Amy)

    4th fill and super tight!

    Hey Lashonda... try to ride it out...I was that tight too... with 6.7 in a 10cc band...but it's been a few weeks now and it's getting better...You really have to watch what you eat and chew, chew, chew...Now I think I'm at my sweet spot...lost 3lbs last week. After two weeks of throwing up... I know when to stop eating before I get to that point. I hope it gets better for you... BamaMom (Amy)

    4th fill and super tight!

    I also have a 10cc band.... I had a fill 2wks ago and she added .5cc...so I have a total of 6.7cc in my 10cc band. The PA said this was close to reaching the max in that size band... I'm really tight, but I don't want her to take any out... I just need to slow down and chew better... I have thown up mulitple times in the past 2 wks... and have slimed alot. but I know it's because I was eating too fast... I think when I finally get the eating slowed down, this will be a good place for me.!! Good Luck, Amy
  19. Hello, I was just wondering if anybody else eats air popped popcorn? I was banded Nov. 3rd and have 6.5cc in a 10cc band and love, love, love popcorn. I have been able to eat this with no problem... I only eat about 2 cups of it... but it seems like I shouldn't be able to eat that much. bamaMom
  20. I was banded 11/3/10 and have lost 37 lbs pre-surgery... It has not been coming off as quickly as I would have liked, but that is my fault. Not exercising regularly, eating too fast, not getting the water in. I've had 2 fills and go for my 3rd on monday. I think I'm almost at my sweet spot. I have 6.5 in a 10cc band. I too started doing Zumba this week and really like it. I also bought Julianne Hough's dance DVD, but I can't follow it, not because it's too advanced, but because the camera stays on her extremely tight abs..and not her feet, which is what I need to see!!! I ordered another dance type DVD from Amazon and I hope it's easier to follow....I'm frustrated, but it's with myself, not the band!! I'm down 2lbs this week and I had been stuck at the same weight for about 3 wks now!! Hopefully the scale this morning is the motivation I need. Good Luck to all!! BamaMom

    BRA SIZE

    From someone who's had a breast reduction...wait until you get to your goal weight!! It's major surgery!!! I'm 48 and I had a breast reduction when I was 28... and I still remember the pain!!! I've lost 45lbs since Sept. my bra size went from a 40C to a 36D....the lady that fitted me said 90% of all women wear the wrong size bra!! She tried to get me to buy a DD, but I refused. The D is comfortable, but 1 of my boobs is much smaller than the other and it doesn't nearly fill up the cup!! Good luck!! I'm hoping to get into a B cup again!!! BamaMom

    Is air popped popcorn bad?

    that's what I have .. the presto Micro cooker....best invention ever. I put just a tiny bit of oil....I'm trying to cut it out, because I know it doesn't have any nut. value... Trying very hard today to eat high protein, low carb....
  23. I agree Zeniada... I used to dip my lettuce, but now I just dip my bare fork in the dressing then pick up the salad... It's amazing how much less you use. I used to wait tables and I couldn't believe how much dressing people put on their salads...especially here in the South...We LOVE our Ranch Dressing!!! I haven't added alot of salad back in my diet yet, but when I do... I doubt I will measure the lettuce and veggies. I have been using Romaine lettuce leaves for sandwich wraps...I can't do any bread...it always gets stuck...I've only tried whole wheat though....I can eat whole wheat tortillas!! spread some refried black beans, taco sauce, shredded chicken on there yum!!...can you tell I'm hungry.... Does anyone eat popcorn for a snack... I just had some and it was wonderful. No problems with it getting stuck. ~ bamamom

  25. Hey Scoobie... I had my surgery Nov. 3rd and my first fill 6cc in a 10cc band Dec. 23. I go for my second fill on Jan. 24.. but I feel the same way you do...I'm still very hungry and I'm hoping with this next fill that I'll be less hungry between meals.... My stomach is growling now!! When I had my fill in the 23rd the nurse said I should lose about 1-2 lbs a wk, but I've lost and gained the same 2 lbs!! I guess I can look on the bright side... I didn't gain anything over Christmas... Hoping my second fill with keep me full!!! BamaMom~Amy
