  1. The progress can certainly be slow. I was banded on 10/27/2010. I lost 10 pds right before surgery, and have lost 20 since...but none in a month. I was overfilled and lost about 8 pds during that time...but, I started to become weak and lose energy. Dr C has taken some fill out and now I feel just a slight restriction and have not lost or gained any. However, pysically, I feel the best I have in some time. I just came back from Az where I hiked 6 miles one day. Wow! A year ago a half a mile was an accomplishment. So it is not ALL about the wieght ...more loss would be good...but being active is key... I would like to lose 20 more to hit the 200 pd mark, but at this point, I think that will take another year of being vigilant. Special K, I wish I could join you all this weekend but have plans. Keep in touch pls..for some of us, online support is the best we can get.
  2. Hi All, My surgery was 10/27. I lost 8 pounds pre surgery and then another 8 post surgery. When I hit week two post surgery, my hunger pangs went off the charts. For the next two weeks, I remained very careful as I introduced soft foods and then solids .....but was not able to lose, despite consuming less than 1400 calories a day and exercising. Since I had no restriction and found I tolerated all foods, my goal has been to not regain any of the weight I lost to date. Tomorrow is my first fill, and I am excited to get on with it and find the losing zone again. But I am somewhat discouraged by reports that folks still dont feel restriction after the first fill. Other than some port area pain and occasional abdominal cramps, I feel great and walk aboout 8 miles a week.
  3. The week before surgery I did a low carb high protein diet and was able to drop 8 pounds. I was banded on 10/27 and when I got home I had lost another 3 lbs. HOwever, since last Friday, I have only gained weight. My calorie intake has not even topped 800 calories in a single day becasue of the discomfort..... but yet I am gaining. I so dont understand and now feel totally frustrated.
  4. I am being banded tomorrow and was wondering how long after surgery do they keep you? I thought it was definelty 23 hours, but reading posts from others (not at Mt C West) they were home by evening.
