Keeping to Myself

I find myself wanting to shout at everyone "I am finally doing something with my weight" And then - I stop. No one knows what I am doing except by hubby, my mom and my bestfriends (2). Why???? Personal decision? Yeah - but why not let others know what I am doing - almost everyone I work with is overweight - and we're not talking a few pounds on the lovehandles here - we're talking we all qualify with high BMI's. so why don't I want to tell anyone? Shame? Fear of reprisal? Mockery? Hmmmm.. still working on that one - Now that the day is getting closer - my emotions are one big jumbled mess...

LAP-BAND Patients

It is a hard decision to make, i went through a similat phase. My famil and few close friends knew, but my work colleagues i wasnt sure about. I think it was a combination of fear it wouldnt work, its not their business anyway - its a personal journey and i will be watched and talked about constantly. Then i thought well they are going to notice all this weight falling off and those few that i told would probably let the cat out of the bag, then i'd look like a fool. So i decided that after i had it done and people said "your losing weight how are you doing it?" I would say that i had the band. Its not a cop out because we all know that its all about diet and exercise, but it doesnt work for us all. I want to have a healthy lifestyle and if having a band can give that to me then so be it. You still have to eat healthy and keep fit, its just a tool to help uis through it. At the end of the day its your decision and how comfortable you are with telling these people, yes it will put you on the spot light as people cant help but comment and dont understand the process fully. You focus on being mentally prepared for your op and the rest will come later when you are good and ready. You know when its the right time! Sorry, i wrote an essay! Good luck with it all....
