Followers I saw the doctor yesterday and he gave me the date of April 9th for surgery. He mentioned not wanting me to get discouraged because on the average Banders will only keep 1/3 of the total over weight amount off. Is this true for anu of you?

djzlady96 LAP-BAND Patients March 26, 200917 yr Author stats Not sure but why believe that? You can do anything you set your mind to. I am glad my doctor didn't say that or I may have opted not to put myself through this if that was the case. I have talked to people 3-4 years out and they are doing great, and have kept it off. That doctor wasn't being very positive. You decided to do this, so you set your mind to it and you can do it. Think positive. Best wishes, djzlady96
meltingaway LAP-BAND Patients March 27, 200917 yr Author stats murphy, i am so glad my dr. never said anything like that. i just had my surgery march 2. i feel great. i get a little winded at times. i wait tables so i am always running around. when i feel this winded i take deep breaths and they help so much. the first 2 weeks after surgery all i wanted to do was breath deep . it hurt at first but do it as many times a day as you can. its so calming. and it relaxed me.
Band_Groupie LAP-BAND Patients March 27, 200917 yr Author stats Hey Murphy! Just remember those studies/figure include all those people who 'failed their band' as they like to say here...you can 'eat around' any WLS. I could get a band and eat nothing but oodles of milkshakes. If you took a poll of everyone here who's had any kind of success with the band I'm sure the stats would be much higher...it's still all up to you. Good luck Bunny! -BG
