New To The game

Hey All

I am new to this site. I am just starting on my journey for the surgery. Hopefully I my insurance will begin to pay for the surgery. I really need to have the surgery. Can someone who has already had the lap band give me so pointers on getting the process going. I have already attended my first seminar.

I too am new to the banding game. I was banded on Jan 29th of this year. It's been a long process ~ my ins. req. the 6mo. diet also. So I met with a nut in my surgeons off. monthly for six mos. I've only lost 20lbs thus far. I shouldn't say only because that is a lost and not a gain. For some reason I was thinking more would have been off by now. I'll take my 20 and the inches too. I'm so happy with this new life!! I don't eat bread, pasta or any type of "goodies" Being 300lbs is not cool at all. I wish you the very best and God Speed!!!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm not sure if my insurance will pay but I surely hope so. If not I will just have to bite the bullet and pay for it myself. I am determined to get the surgery either way. I have been overweight my entire life. Have been on BP meds since I had my first child at 16. I have been given several kinds of BP meds just to figure out what kind actually works for me. I want to be around to see my son (2yrs old) grow up along with my daughter (14). I want to be around to play with my grandchildren and great grandchildren. I want to be able to go to the waterpark with them and actually enjoy being there. The funny part is that I am actually not t big food person. I don't eat much but I just can't seem to lose any weight. My mom and both of my siblings are very thin but I guess I didn't inherit the "thin" gene. Again, thanks for the encouraging words.

Hey,MsE, thanks for the comment on my name! It is a nick name my Grandfather gave me when I was just a baby( and that was a LOOONG time ago) but he was THE best!!!! And I sure do miss him, but anyway I have BC/BS of Neb. and I've been approved for surgery on 04-06, so maybe you will get approval too. Keep in touch!
