I wish I could help, but I haven't had my first fill yet. Have you told your doctor this? I don't understand why you would be able to eat anything you want and not feel any restriction after a few days. Is it possible you could have a leak? I have no idea; I'm just asking. I think you definately need to tell your doctor your concerns.

Good luck,

I took am having the same problem.

Yesterday I went for my 4th fill since my banding 12 weeks ago and I complained again that the restricting I thought I had went away by the end of the day or the following day.

The doc took out the saline and replace it with a thicker liquid and for the first time I really knew what restriction was. I was starving when I had the fill done as I travel 2 hours to see my doc so I met my husband for lunch. He had McDonalds for lunch and so did I. A ceaser salad and fries ( just to test) I found that I couldnt eat very fast at all and it took me nearly an hour to pick through my lunch. But I finished it .......I was waiting to feel that full feeling but I felt restriction and in one minute later I knew food had gone throughl......by dinner time some 7 hours later late at night I relented and took pizza home to my hubby as it was late.......with the intention of me having a frozen diet meal, but as laziness set in and having been on the road all day 8.30pm I ate 2 pieces of pizza no probs............just made sure I chewed properly.......I shouldnt be able to do this......there was one piece left and I ate it......so three pieces down I was full and went to bed feeling defeated.............

Long and the short of it I may have a leak.......It feels as soon as I eat the pressure of the food must force fluid out......Has anyone else experienced this.????

I know how you feel. I just had my 4th fill yesterday, and barely any restriction. I'm disappointed that I spend so much money on this band. It does not seem to be working.

Something is veeeerrrrry wrong when you've had several fills and can't feel any restriction. Also, I don't understand why anyone's doctore would be giving them several fills in the span of a few days. My first fill, I didn't feel any restriction either, but when I called back and told my doctor this, they explained to me that it's a slow process and they couldn't just rush in and fill again. So, it really makes me wonder about a surgeon that will fill a band so readily after surgery. They further explained that it usually takes about three times before they find just the right amount. So, after 3 fills in 4 months, each fill, one month apart) I'm going for my 6 month check up today, and there is NO WAY my doctor needs to add anything to my band. I can't really eat breads and very little meat, and can't hold more than about 3 or 4 ounces of food at a time.

So, if I were doing everything I was supposed to be doing w/my band, (I am) and if I spent all that money, out of pocket (I did) then I'd be raising HELL if my band wasn't working. I'd want to know point blank why it works for some but it doesn't work for me. I'd read everything I could get my hands on about banding problems and then make an appointment with another gastric surgeon to have him/her take a look at my band, and maybe do my fills.

Good luck with everything. I wish you the best.
