is this the right decision

I have my surgery date for 12/30 and then they called and said that they could do it earlier 12/9. Is this the right decision to make? People say gastric is the way to go but I don't want that invasive procedure. I am very very concerned that I will feel the port and when my 2 year olds play with me they will hurt the band in some way and cause issues with band or port. Any one have any great advice - I could sure use it right now!!!
